This will be the first time since 1978 that a team from NKY did not make the State Championship. Any other area of the Commonwealth have a streak going?

I was just wondering when the last time NKY wasn't represented.  This answers my question.

That is impressive. I’m going off the top of my head but 1977 was Bellevue and highlands? Then 1979 was just Bellevue? Coach Hauck was getting the Boone Co Machine slowly rolling at that point. Stinks this year but good luck to whoever won tonight.

Lloyd was there in 1976?   Nearly 50 years of the area being represented at at least one level.  Impressive.

Lloyd won 1976.

Northern Kentucky definitely had a very good run of having one or more teams represent for state championship football on the years of this run, which is impressive considering how small it is compared to several parts of the state. My guess would have been since the late 1970’s.

This is the 68th football season where the KHSAA has conducted football state finals, and this season is the first since 1978 where football programs from Northern Kentucky high schools were not represented in the state finals, thus ending a streak lasting 46 years. In 68 seasons of official Kentucky championship football, at least one football team from NKY has competed for a state title in 59 of those seasons.

Upon the completion of the six games plays in the 2025 football state finals weekend, the KHSAA will have held a total of 290 state championship games. Of those games, Northern Kentucky high school football programs will have competed in 100 state finals games and have won 62 state titles.

That means, total, NKY teams have played in 34.5% of all football state finals games, representing 17.2% of the total teams playing in state finals games. And NKY teams have taken home 21.4% of all football state championship trophies awarded by the KHSAA in 68 seasons of championship play.

I can not remember who it was. When I get to work I will post the work sheet I made a few years ago that has that info.
it is disappointing that none of the titles have to go through NKY this year.

Here is my sheet. It is the same/close to Colonels.
