  1. Grant-Shelby Oldham-Gallatin Owen-North Oldham Collins-SK
  2. They are the favorite, but not that heavy of a favorite.
  3. Should be a great tournament. At least two of the quarterfinal games will be close to pick-ems (three if Oldham-Gallatin draw each other to open things). After Oldham, there isn't a big difference between two thru seven.
  4. 2pm at Henry Co Champions: Oldham Co, Collins, Owen Co, Grant Co Runners Up: North Oldham, Shelby Co, Gallatin Co, Simon Kenton
  5. Elite level coach and most talented team in the 8th region? Reality check. Last night was the first win over an 8th region team that has a plus .500 record. 6-6 against the 8th, and 4 of those six were wins over Walton-Verona and Williamstown. They were beaten by 20 by both Oldham and Shelby, 17 by Collins, and were swept by Owen. All good teams, mind you. I know they had some injuries and other missed time in some of those games, and the Owen games were basically coin flips. But, that's their resume Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Nice veteran team with a coach who has rejuvenated a previously underachieving program, at least in recent years. Congrats on their district titles.
  6. Impressive. Grant has good guard play (love Johnson's game) and are athletic and have decent size for who they play against. They are certainly a handful if they are playing well.
  7. 16/25 from three? Yep, that'll win a lot of games. Congrats to PC. With no GRC or MoCo in the field, the Mason and Campbell performances in their respective title games, and Harrison now going on the runner-up line for the quarterfinals sets up for an interesting draw.
  8. Actually, the current system of having four district champions per region goes more in line with the "everyone gets a trophy" thinking then the one big regional tournament if you compare the two ways. Thats three (or four, depending on if a runner up wins the region) more teams that get a chance to cut down nets and call themselves "champions". One thing that would be lost that really hasn't been discussed would be the ability for more schools to host post season play. I know its a big deal for a lot of schools and communities the years they host district tournaments.
  9. He blasts everyone. I'll take SK in a close one, I don't know if Grant shoots it well enough to win this game..but I will say that both teams are better than their record. Don't know how I would feel if I was Collins/Shelby/Owen and see the runner up of the 32nd this year as the first opponent in New Castle.
  10. I say they claim it. They were known as their current nickname, I believe. They were drawing kids from the county, except for Augusta, just like today. In the old lobby at the old Bracken gym, the 1939 trophy, net, and various pictures were displayed prominently. I don't remember if there was a letter jacket or sweater, but it was a long time ago the last time I visited. Lots of info, too, in addition to that book above.
  11. I know that Brooksville changed names to Bracken Co sometime in the 40s (they won state as Brooksville in 1939 I think)....maybe PB98 or RP know more specifics Of course, there is the Deming to Robertson Co name change a couple of years ago. One of the current Jessamine schools (West?) assumed the old Jessamine Co HS Colts' nickname and school colors. East started with a new slate.
  12. Word is that she was treated for a concussion. Tough end for her career that has been riddled with injuries.
  13. final from Eminence. Carson Williams with 25 & 12, Vince Toftness with 13. Williams also became the first Rebel to ever score 2k in his career. Rebels are now 24-5, Will face either the host Warriors or arch rival Gallatin Co on Saturday for their 4th consecutive 31st district title on Saturday.
  14. Silver Grove has never made while they were in the 10th, but they have been a couple of times in the 9th, last time in the late 70s
  15. I concur with the two above...Henry and Mason- great atmospheres for a regional tournament.
  16. I saw that UHA team several times that year, and their talent was staggering. And, there is no doubt Christian Co beating them was an upset. But, Christian was no slouch. They entered the post season at 20-7.
  17. Bracken Co (10-15) over Brossart (23-5) in 2004 at Campbell Co was pretty big
  18. Villa Madonna made the 9th region tournament in 2009 I dont believe Calvary Christian has been in the regional tournament (9th/10th)
  19. GRC and Montgomery Co both came into the 10th region in the 1965-66 season. One or both had been in EVERY 10th region tournament since. That's over a span of 49 seasons. Wow.
  20. The biggest obstacle to overcome, but once it is overcome, you are right...its contagious. Congrats Augusta.
