They do attempt around 18 FTAs per game, which isnt bad, although that doesnt take into account the pace of the game/number of possessions, etc. My point was...it seems like the FTA stat/differentiation was consistent with a lot of their season. If you win an overtime game by 9 points, you would think you would have to hit a handful of FTs to ice the game...but according to the stats they reported, they went 9/9 for the entire game.

Going with the home team. I would say three of the four 8th region district finals are toss ups (31st final being the outlier).

Based on the stat reports on KHSAA site, it looks like Mason gets out-attempted at the line most nights. i mean, there is an overtime, nine-point win against Montgomery where they had only 9 FTAs. How is that possible?

If the southern 8th region schools are worried so much about the travel to remote locales like Walton and Independence, maybe they should petition the KHSAA to realign the Louisville regions and put them in the 7th. Nah? As far as Kenton Co high schools are concerned, I don't think they necessarily belong in the same district to be honest...Dixie, located between Erlanger and Ft Mitchell, is probably is more in line with being in a district with Lloyd (which they are), or Beechwood/CovCath (which they arent). Scott, being in Taylor Mill and just up the hill from Latonia, would make sense to be in with Holy Cross, and then Holmes as a result, and Simon Kenton probably makes just as much or more sense with the rural northern schools of the 8th (as they are now) or even the newer Boone County high schools than they do with Dixie or Scott.

I am guessing ~ 2000, but that might not be the official number.

Mason County doesnt want to be in the same district as Augusta anymore.

Uhh, he absolutely did not. I dont want to hijack the thread that's obviously about the Grant/W-V game, but what on earth would Humphries be disgusted with? He just blocked a shot and then got fouled on the retrieval that could have helped ice the game. I guess he might have been frustrated he got fouled (doubtful) if was finally called, or maybe he might have been slamming the ball in reaction to the opponents fouling, I dont know...but "disgust" is not the correct description..I am guessing his reaction was celebratory as well.

Obviously, Mason County should never have to play a road game. In all seriousness, alternate it just the way they do it now. But, stop with the boy/girl doubleheaders. Go Monday/Wednesday/Friday for the boys, and a Tuesday DH and Thursday final for the girls. Or Mon/Tues/Thurs boys and Wed/Fri for the girls.

Owen got contributions from everywhere on the court. Dunaway is one of the best outlet passers I have seen at the high school level. The biggest difference in this team from last year is Toftness being able to get to the rim on his own. That opens up a whole new set of problems for a defense with the size of Williams and Dunaway already there. Oldham actually rebounded well on the offensive end, and defended the three well (I think Owen only hit three of them), or who knows how bad the margin might have been.

Im not taking anything for granted for the Rebels...good chance they are going to play their arch-rival Gallatin Co on their court to open the 31st District tournament. Gallatin has played well lately after a slow start, and they are a much better team at home. But, the opportunity is there. And they are certainly playing well.

Impressive win....as crazy as it sounds, the game wasnt as close as the score indicated, Oldham actually ended the game on a 10-0 run. Big win for Owen heading into the postseason from a confidence standpoint, as were the Collins, Anderson and South wins. Playing their best ball of the season.

Not buying the whole "holding back for a possible regional meeting" theory for either side. Its important for both teams for similar reasons, simply to gather momentum to head into the postseason. Despite their success this season, and in the past decade or so, Owen hasnt had a lot of success historically against the bigger schools in the 8th region. And, like someone said above, Oldham would like for the Rebels to still have that doubt on whether or not they can beat them. It'll be a close game.

Based on what I saw this year....I wouldnt count NKU out of the Horizon title in the near future.

They reported 11/30 from three on their game stat report on KHSAA's website, 27/61 from the field overall. I want to see what the rebounding totals were from the Owen Co side. South's stats only had them with 16 boards, and I know that Williams had 15 himself.

These two played a 8th region first round game two years ago that ended up 84-77 South, on the way to their repeat regional title. That may have been the last time they met before tonight. It was a wildly entertaining game. IIRC, it was tied with a just under two minutes to go, South missed a three but Owen couldn't coral the long rebound, and South scored on the putback and one to seize control. I think Carson had something like 37p and 21r in the losing effort.

40p and 15r for Carson.

Figured this one would be high scoring, up-and-down the floor type of game
