OldhamOldie Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Final Very intense game, fun to watch. I predicted 68-52 in the thread early today! I almost had the score!
OldhamOldie Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I thought Owen County had too much going in, and they showed it. Oldham County cut off some of the interior passing into Williams, but his teammates showed they are much more than a one-man team. Fun atmosphere again, won't be shocked to see these two play again in the regional. I still believe South Oldham is the No. 2 team in the 8th Region, but Oldham County is solid and still has a lot to play for. Should be a great 8th Region tournament at Henry County! Districts will be fun, so let's get the post season started!
Randy Parker Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Carson Williams scores 29 & Vince Toftness 20 for Owen.
Mack The Knife Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Happy to say I was wrong about this one. Thought the Rebels would win a tight one.
OldhamOldie Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Oldham County faces rival North Oldham next week in the 29th district. Owen County meets either Gallatin County or Eminence in the 31st. I think Gallatin County will defeat Eminence in a tight game, but having the home floor will give Gallatin a small edge. Meanwhile, South Oldham meets Trimble County in the other 29th district game. South should win this one and set up a rematch with Oldham County for the district championship. Those games are played at Trimble County.
Yellow Card Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Very intense game, fun to watch. I predicted 68-52 in the thread early today! I almost had the score! Congrats Rebels, another nice win. Kinda stretching it to say you almost had the score though.
OldhamOldie Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Congrats Rebels, another nice win. Kinda stretching it to say you almost had the score though. Well, they were up by 16 with about 30 seconds left and I told my wife my margin is going to be exactly right. Then Oldham's reserves get a basket and free throw. I said a 16 point win, and it ends 13. Close enough! HAHA
OldhamOldie Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Anyone have the final rebound statistics for Carson Williams? I did not know if he had a double-double tonight. I saw it was posted he had 29 points.
nkywildcat68 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Impressive win....as crazy as it sounds, the game wasnt as close as the score indicated, Oldham actually ended the game on a 10-0 run. Big win for Owen heading into the postseason from a confidence standpoint, as were the Collins, Anderson and South wins. Playing their best ball of the season.

Oldham County also spoiled my 16-point prediction with that late flurry. I agree Owen County is heading into the tournament with momentum and playing their best basketball. Assuming they win the district, and it would be one of the great upsets in recent memory if they don't, Owen County should be in great position in the regional at Henry County. I believe South Oldham is the only 8th Region team that can knock off Owen County, that due to their uncanny three-point shooting. But even that would be a big upset. If Oldham County knocks off South Oldham in the district, we could have a Owen County/South Oldham first-round regional game depending on the draw. That would be the state's best regional opener I would think.
Mr. Athletics Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Owen will take them on 1 game at a time. They won't overlook anyone.
nkywildcat68 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Im not taking anything for granted for the Rebels...good chance they are going to play their arch-rival Gallatin Co on their court to open the 31st District tournament. Gallatin has played well lately after a slow start, and they are a much better team at home. But, the opportunity is there. And they are certainly playing well.
Yellow Card Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Oldham County also spoiled my 16-point prediction with that late flurry. You sure about that comment??? If the game ended on a 10-0 run, I think they actually helped you out.
8th Region Warrior Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I for one thought it would be a better game, but when the Rebels supporting cast can play like they did last night they will win the 8th region. I know Carson had 28-29 points last night but their team scored over 70, proving that they can beat you as well. Owen will definitely be a hard out rest the way. Congrats on a great regular season to both teams
