I don't know if there is a problem with Highlands or not but they looked bad last night.Maybe it was Newport that made them look that way but they looked off last night .Newport JV also won 50-43.

Newport i do believe.

I think the 36th District is one of the toughest in the state this season.

Does anyone know if Hannah Haight is being recruited by any colleges?

Congrats BBHS on a good win. I said it would be tough for HHS to continue to win without two of there starters.Good luck to both schools on the rest of their seasons.

Mason also had two players out last night. Im just saying its tough not having two staters for any team.HHS does have depth on the bench but they are role players not starters or they would be in the starting five alredy. If you think you can continue to win games without them starters then lets give HHS the 9th region championship now!:lol:

If the two starting guards for HHS do not play tonight i will take Brossart in a close game. I know HHS has a deep bench but losing two starters is tough so i will say Brossart 52 HHS 47.

I liked the energy from #33 for Newport. He was at least physical against Holmes. The trash talking was going on by both teams especially #33 Collins and Pittman.I agree that Rice did keep his cool and looks like he has grown up. Holmes is great on the defense end and we all know thats what wins championships!

It was more than 10 free throws they missed 17. Terrible at the line and only shot like 30% from the field. Newport missed alot of easy shots and should have lead at the half. Holmes turned it on in the second half to put the game away.

Highlands by 12.

Holmes by 10 or so. But I'm interested to see how Newport plays against a team this good.If Newport can keep it close or pull off a shocker then this team can compete with anyone this year.

By the look of the pictures was there any people there?

I don't see JJ for Holmes in the box score.Did he play at all in this game?

Was Pittman hurt?

If Newport continues to share the ball they can play with anybody in the 9th region. If teams thinks this is the same old Newport this year then they will be surprised.Come tournament time they will be ready with a good regular season schedule.They are playing Holmes,Highlands,Connor,NCC,Boone Co,Campbell CO,Holy Cross,St. Henry and Brossart this year.

There J V team is all juniors except two i think. Next season the varsity will have alot of seniors again.

I totally agree. Every time you step between the lines in any sport you should give maximum effort. IMO i did not see that from Holmes against GRC for whatever reason. To only step it up "when it counts" is not they way to go because there may be a big game when they try to "step up" or turn it on and they wont be able to. IMO just play hard all the time.

Is Buckler going to play this year?

Both schools have great teams but i thought GRC wanted the game more than Holmes. It looked like Holmes didnt play very hard or put up enough effort in my IMO. GRC had tremendous effort and played hard. Holmes needs to develop a bench i didnt see much from them in this game.

I don't think Ricky Buckler is going to play. It will hurt them if he does not.
