Oak Hills shot four Technical free throws. First two on some sub violation and the second two seemed to be about a non call on a 5 seconds. Those helped them get to 50.

The first one was legit because the Highlands book didn't have 55 Grubbs in it and that book is what the official book took his information from.

 

The second one was pretty bogus in my opinion. The referee called the T on #3 Lother because he was "reffing" the game and saying supposedly arguing the calls...I can't say one way or the other but it seemed to be a pretty cheap T. Overall, this was the most boring first set of games I've watched/worked in the five years I've worked the game for the BBCHC. The reffing was gawd-awful at times and the game play was just as bad.

I'm surprised Oak Hills was able to keep it within 15. I thought Highlands depth and size would be too much for the Highlanders.

Oak Hills didnt look small at all and arent they the largest school in Ohio from an enrollment size? Birds had this one from the start leading 13 to 3 after one. They led 26 to 16 at the half. Giving up 16 first half points is pretty good for a team that likes to get up and down the floor and score. The Birds are obviously still playing that hard nosed aggressive man-man defense.

 

Congrats to the Birds!!! They are averaging about 70 points a game through 2 so that is much better than averaging in the 50's.

Don't know how you would over-look Grubbs. He did a nice job the little time he was in

 

As far as the refs...:puke: they dominated the game I was there. How can players get into a flow when they're tooting the whistle everyother possesion?

Its not what I paid $12.00 actually $14.00 ($2 to park) to see.

 

Oak Hills was shooting the bonus with 3-4 minutes into the 3rd Q. and double bonus most of the 4th Q.

Having Flynn as their head coach is really going to open things up for the Birds offensively. He likes to let his teams get out and run and that's what Highlands is built to do with the depth they have.
