I agree with you, and in fact that is what I told my son when we were discussing. Of course he did not like it, but thought it was cool Under Armour was doing this. He also now wishes he did not give up basketball last year to focus on baseball!

I think that is huge. When my son played basketball for Cov Cath a few years back, they wore Addidas. I had to pay for two pairs of Addidas shoes, plus a basketball fee of a couple hundred bucks. This fee covered a polo shirt and warm up type jacket they wore to some games, as well as a few other things that I do not remember. They wore uni's and warm ups that had been used for the last several years. The basketball program had purchased them before with money they made from their camps, 3x3 tourney, etc. They did not get team bags, or anything like that. All other equipment such as ankle and knee braces were responsibility of player's family, although I do recall being able to purchase at a discount thru the school. I am not sure if these are provided by UA as part of this, but the expenses for these are minor compared to everything else. Not having to pay for these things is a huge get for the school and the boys, as well as their families. Congrats, and I really look forward to seeing.

Said at school tonite, field will be completed tomorrow with a walkthru on Thursday. Kids will be on the new field Friday! I saw it first hand tonite for the first time. It looks great.

Very nice schedule put together this year. One other change from what I remember the old Colonels 'normal' schedule from being was this year that have Highlands on Sr Night. Used to always play them first week of January.

Been a number of years since my kids played in it, but it was well run, and great for getting the kids back into basketball mode. My only complaint with it was the courts. Not sure if they are still like this, but I saw a number of kids, mostly older, roll their ankles. One in fact broke his. They all happened under the baskets where they would go up, and come down right against the fence where the court would drop off. There was very little space past the back boards.

Well, we just learned the other day that with the win in the regional tourney, the 14u Kids qualified for AABC nationals and will be traveling to Oklahoma the end of the month! Congrats again boys, and good luck at Nationals!

Nice - Glad that they had a lot of success, and I am sure fun out there. Nothing worse than traveling that far and getting your butts handed to you.

Over the weekend, the Ky Kids won the Regional Tourney. Sixteen teams participated in the tourney. They went two and one in pool play winning on game last Tuesday, and split the two games played last Thursday nite. They then won two games on Saturday and two on Sunday for the tourney Championship. One of the most impressive things in this championship was that they only had nine guys for the games on Saturday and Sunday. They play in the American Gold South Division of the SWOL. Congrats to the Coaches and Players!

I heard the other nite that Cov Cath had three freshman teams, each having 20 kids currently working out and playing. Anyone know if this is accurate? I also know that Thelen at least is practicing with JV only and not included in these numbers. I knew that there would be great interest amongst the freshman class, but did not think it would be over 30%.

Congrats Jackson! Known the family for a long time, been watching Jackson and his brother helping dad coach the grade school boys for a while now. I am quite sure Mom and Dad are very proud.

If Parents decide they want to put one in their yard, why would you feel that you can take them down? I'll tell you what - if you took one down from my yard, I would prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law, and that is only if you survived the gunshot for trespassing, or the bites from my dogs. Wow your jealousy of Cov Cath amazes me....

Oh I understand that perfectly. There was nothing wrong with what Central did - it was just surprising that the four who ran had not run it in a single meet all year. Like I said, congrats to them for it. I was just mentioning it so that the colonel fans who may not be aware of the practice were not surprised if it happened again this year!

Congrats to the team! Way to get the region again. Hating seeing them falter those few years after so many years of taking region. Let's hope Central does not pull a fast one at state like they did a few years back when we were seeded first in the 4x100. They threw four guys together who had never ran it, and beat us by a bit. At least we won state that year! Good luck to all the Colonels at State!

He didn't have to scramble through the history books to find out. Many of his former players and regional champions were in attendance on the second day of action at CovCath's six-court facility, which opened for play at Monday's regional semis. "They did their job," Hertsenberg said of the team-wide effort. "They deserved to win." The Colonels clinched their 17th regional title and 14th in a row. Ryle finished runner-up.

Just curious - would the HHS coach and players feel the same way? Did it not bother them at all, losing these two games, esp since they were to the hated Colonels? I think I understand what you are trying to say that these were regular season games, and they do not mean as much as others, but to say that these were scrimmages is an insult IMO. I doubt anyone who is involved in these games would consider these scrimmages.
