Under Armor has partnered with Covington Catholic High School basketball.

 

UA was looking for a midwest school to partner with and had a few things they were looking for.

 

A passionate community

Support of the student body

Winning

Elite player plus lots of talent

Coach with a high or growing profile

Commitment to basketball by the school

 

This is a deal where CCH gets all of their apparel from UA - shoes/unis/travel gear/bags/etc.

Only school in the midwest , as far as I know, to get this deal.

 

 

One more example of CCH raising the profile of its basketball program. Working on getting a national profile.

When you say partners, what do you mean exactly?

 

It has to be more than just getting apparel, shoes, and bags, right? And I'm assuming this means the players will get those things for free, because otherwise I don't think this is news.

Wouldn't getting shoes/bags and anything personal impact amateur status? Highlands hoops has also gone to Under Armour this year I believe. Kids seem to like everything about it.

Exactly. Not to be rude to anybody, but that's why I don't get why this is news. My college just switched from Nike to Under Armour, but its really internal news. Outside of the student athletes here it is no big deal (and to players like me who love to play no matter what brand is on their feet, its barely news. ).

Warren Central has had a deal like this with Nike for about a decade, if not longer.

There is a difference between wearing a certain brand and getting an actual sponsorship, which very few high schools have.That is what this sounds like.
