  1. You know, this is exactly how I feel as a Cov Cath fan. (although a certain poster makes it real hard to enjoy anything positive about SK) Most of the posts in these recent threads about the football success seem to be from non Cov Cath fans. I, like you, just want to slow down and enjoy the success that they are having, because you never know how long it will last. No need to puff out the chest, gloat or anything like that. No matter how many things point towards long term success, you never know. Hope it lasts for a long time, but regardless I will enjoy it while I can!
  2. Back in the day when a bunch of us were still playing soccer, our team name was the NADS. We had cut off t shirts and the writing on the front of the shirts was the same as the Hockey team's - 'Go Nads!' We thought it was funny as heck when going to McDonalds or somewhere after a game and a little kid would read the shirts and ask mommy or daddy what Nads were.
  3. They have a store at GABP that sells these. I was shocked the first time I saw one that was a pitch in the dirt, and the selling price was $40 Why would someone pay this? No clue, but not me.
  4. 7 - Seahawks 5 - Chiefs 3 - Cardinals 2 - Browns 1 - Redskins TB - Chiefs
  5. Congrats to the Colonels on another great game. Keep it going. Hopefully both teams escaped with no major injuries and will have all hands on deck next week!
  6. Alright Colonels! Great job! Keep it going. Wish I could be there
  7. Looks like they have changed the terms so even if you sign up for their free service you are not waiving anything as was the original case.
  8. 7 - Patriots 5 - Jaguars 3 - Cowboys 2 - Falcons 1 - Redskins TB - Jaguars
  9. 7 - Eagles 5 - Bengals 3 - Packers 2 - Cardinals 1 - Titans TB - Packers
  10. From the Bengals web site: 'That sound is Bengaldom exhaling with initial reports that wide receiver John Ross’ right knee injury that he suffered in Thursday’s pre-season finale isn’t serious. It’s unclear what his status is for the Sept. 10 opener against Baltimore at Paul Brown Stadium, but it looks like he and six other receivers are going to be on the roster at Saturday’s cut to the limit of 53. But that is going to be far from the Opening Day 53 because they’ll most likely have to make some moves in reaction to other injuries, such as the one No.3 quarterback Jeff Driskel suffered Thursday with a broken throwing thumb. Initial reports show Ross injury not serious
  11. This is an easy one for me. She would never tighten the lids on jars before placing them back in the fridge. I can not tell you how many jars of tarter sauce, pickles, mayonnaise, etc dropped out on the floor when I reached in to grab. And of course who always had to clean up the mess??? yup - me There were many other of course, which may be why we are no divorced, but this one has always been at the top of the list.
  12. I had heard of that trick but we never tried. Dad was too old school I guess. Amazed me every time though that two hours after the turtle lost its head, the nerve endings would fire and move the legs when you tried to cut on it and the darn nails would cut you, and once you got to their heart it was still beating a couple hours of their head being cut off. Also don't want to stick your finger in their body less mouth as if you touch their darn tongue, the jaw would still snap shut. Crazy IMO but darn good eating so well worth the trouble.
  13. I ate plenty of turtle both fired and in soup fashion for many many years when I was younger. Dad was known as the local guy to call when folks had problems with the turtle eating the ducks in their ponds. There were times I remember pulling 10-15 turtles out of a lake in a weekend. Dad had a turtle soup recipe he cut from the paper back in the 40's that he kept in his wallet, and used it for every batch - 3-4 times a year. The rest of the turtle we would fry. Both were so so good. As far as taste of fried turtle, honestly the different parts had a different taste. I was always told that there were 7 different taste but I could not taste that much. I can tell you that my favorite parts were under the shell, then the tail, and then the legs. Each of those three did have a different taste. Dad is too old to catch turtles now, I have often thought about doing it but I remember all the work that was involved in harvesting the meat. I can still remember all the scrapes and cuts that would happen every time we would clean them. Always amazed at how long after they were dead, that they could still inflict pain! Man, after typing this I really had a container of Dad's soup in the freezer right now so I could heat it up for lunch!
  14. The same is true in Japan. And, I have to say, the best service I have ever gotten while out to eat or drink has been in Japan. I just got back from another visit as a matter of fact, and it was the same as previous visits. Awesome service everyplace we went. In fact, several times you see them actually jogging to get things done for you. Now, back here at home, I always TIP. I know what it is like in the Service Industry, and appreciate what folks do for me. Heck, I even tip my auto mechanic as he always gets me to the front of the line and gets things done quicker than expected. For those that say that tipping someone does not increase the service you get, I agree to an extent, however I can tell you that as one who has delivered many pizzas in my day, we know who tips, who does not, and who tips best. It definitely has an impact on how quickly one gets their food. For pizza's guys and gals we know who we actually lose money taking their food to. No one wants to lose money so often times their food may sit for a bit before someone will take it.
  15. Saw where they announced they are coming to Cincinnati for casting. Did not realize that you needed to sign up for a time slot. I always thought you just showed up and waited in line.
  16. Congrats to all, and especially to the freshman from Dixie. One heck of a pitcher and an even better young man.
  17. Yes he has. He was not getting much time on varsity so ha played third and pitched for JV.
  18. It truly was a wonderfully pitched game. Both pitchers kept the opposing hitters off balance. Nice fast paced game to watch as well.
  19. Thank you. Yes Workers Comp claim has been filed, and we are meeting with an attorney next week. Thanks!
  20. Sorry if I came across as saying all kids. Truly did not mean that as I know there are more good kids than bad, at least I hope so!
  21. I am not sure why but this story hit me: Florida teen who threw woman into pool arrested - CNN.com I think it is the video and just seeing how the kid picked her up, they fell, and then he drags her and they end up in the pool? Come on man. Why? I mean yea when I was young I did stupid things and had issues with adults trying to break up parties, gatherings, etc but NEVER would I think it is ok to pick up an older lady, and throw her in the pool! Worse yet, after dropping her and falling on top of her, pick her up again and throw her in???? Yea I know peer pressure is a big thing and you cna hear kids yelling to throw her in pool, but come on man. I should add, I applaud the young man for recognizing he messed up and turned himself in, but geez.
