Didnt know if the had lights or not. Don't really keep up with that kind of thing. I knew Mercer traveled to the 9th Region champ.

Game is Tuesday at Dixie actually.

Dominating defensive performance by CCH I thought. Ryle had few, if any, hard shots on goal. Most of their chances came via free kick or throw in.

 

Only Will Bedel kept this game from being 3-0. Great game by him tonight.

 

CCH score started via free kick played out wide to Schutt who played a perfect cross to Stava who finished with a great header.

 

CCH wins their second 9th region title in a row.

As expected by most, this match ended up being a defensive battle in Union tonight. Other than a couple chances on headers early on, Ryle did not have many good looks at all.

 

Agree with the comments made by GP about Bedel. In the second half he made a few nice saves that kept Ryle within striking distance.

I thought both teams played well and a very fair result. What a goal, Schutt to Stava to the back of the net, perfect! Great tournament CCH, back to back 9th Region titles, one heck of an accomplishment, congratulations. The current seniors and juniors have never lost a regional HS game, freshman, JV, and varsity. Congratulations to Ryle on a good season and to good luck to their seniors.

I'm not sure that anyone is all that familiar with Mercer County but based on their schedule and scores, it seems it should be a fairly even matchup with CCH. Mercer is 21-2-2 on the season and have scored 106 goals but it's unlikely they have seen a quality defensive group like CovCath will put on the field. Should be an interesting match.

I'd agree that the result was a fair one. CCH generated more and better chances in their offensive third of the field than Ryle did and they were the better team last night.

Congratulations CCH on back to back Regional titles. I believe this is the first back to back 9th region titles since Scott won it in 2009/10. I think back to mid July and not a lot of people thought CCH would be here in the end and for good reason. Loosing 18 seniors, 8 and sometimes 9 of which started last season is not easy for any program to over come. Add none of the current juniors or sophomores on this team were even on the varsity roster before this season, let alone had ANY varsity experience. Clearly Coach Robertson and his staff have ton a tremendous job molding this team into what they have become. IMO he is the run away winner of coach of the year.

Good luck on Tuesday, the road to a repeat State Championship keeps on getting shorter with every win.
