Are you comparing the talent at Villa and the talent at Cov Cath? Either way both are impressive, but IMO starting as a freshman at Cov Cath is much more impressive, if he is able to do so.

You believe they played in a summer league, yet you know he started every game???? :idunno: Regardless, yes Cole may start as he is a good player, but I do not put any stock in any summer games in determining who starts at the end of November.

Will the same decision be made with basketball? I do not understand the reasoning behind this. I would not think the risk of injury to be that much greater playing varsity - just wondering if there is another reason here. With you saying that he and his family decided, did the coach not have any part of the decision as well? Just curious....

Hopefully that is the case. Your comment got me to thinking. Would the Cov Cath trainer been able to prevent the player from continuing, if the Ryle trainer felt he could continue? I would have thought that the trainer from the other team would have no real say in the matter.

Congrats! Always nice to see a local kid get a chance to continue his playing career at the next level.

I also hope the young man for Ryle has a complete recovery. I do have to question the wisdom of the Ryle medical and coaching teams if he was truly knocked out, and they allowed him to continue to play. I hope he never lost consciousness, and that is why they allowed him to finish the inning.

Congrats to Ryle as they move on, as well as to the Cov Cath team as I for one did not think that this team would be able to make it to Region. At beginning of year they were young and inexperienced and I really thought that this had the potential to be a down year. Hopefully the experience they gained this year sets them up for next year.

Coach began not allowing kids to go away on spring break, and run track. I think reflects in the numbers being down, esp the seniors. Personally I do not agree with this, and would simply not schedule any meets during spring break. He made the decision to go the other way, and I think that has come back to bite him whether he admits it or not. I can not believe after that many years of winning region, that the talent has left the building.

Wonder if Coach McCoy at Cov Cath is questioning his decision regarding spring break? To win region every year from 94-2011, change the rules, finsh third in 12, and are not even ranked in the top 5 this year??? Is the talent down that much, or are that many boys not running due to his rule change? To me it looks like the number of seniors is down. Really a shame IMO.
