Need someone to step into Fredrick's role ie handle the ball and score. Need Schult and young Hepp to be strong defensively in the post AND to be a threat to score occasionally.

Need Ben Heppler to have a better shooting year.

I'm most curious to see Bo's progression offensively.

Shumate and Theobald should get minutes. I think Shumate has more skill than Ben Heppler, but Heppler is a better athlete. Im almost certain Cole will start, his court awareness is unreal for a kid of his age. You cant teach what he has.

I like Shumate a lot. He can get on a roll from 3.

Ive seen him hit 3 in a row from the corner to put his team up big. The game I was watching he had 12 in the first half. Does anyone know who he plays for during the summer?

Some team called the Slam. Filled with mostly CovCath kids. Only have 6 or 7 guys playing. Play mostly in Cincinnati... Local stuff.

CovCath years will go as far as Ruthsatz can take them... Schuh should show natural progression through summer ball. I think he will need to be an offensive threat in the paint for CCH to rival last years run to the regional final. Schult adds some muscle and will rebound well, but can he stay out of foul trouble now being the IT man as far as big bodies go. I don't think VonHandorf adds "alot" to the team this season. Not because he can't, but because this is Ruthsatz team, and Schuh after that. He is also used to being the IT guy on his team, lets see how he handles his new role... I'll also be interested to see how well Cole handles the big boy bodies night in and night out, as most teams will attack "the freshman" to see what he can handle. I know he played varsity last year, but dont know that Villa played the big time programs that CCH sometimes plays. I'm not sold on Shumate as a nightly contributor yet, real nice player if he maintains his role. However, I've seen him try to do too much at times. If he gets the 3-ball going, look out.

What height does Covington Catholic have outside of Schuh (tall and lean (more of a 3), can he be a back to the basket type of player as a 4 or 5 if need be?), Schult (big, strong body, but how tall is he?) and 'young' Heppler (will he play)?

Anyone on the roster (perhaps JV) that has some height and strength? I just worry when they play against stronger, bigger teams (like NCC) that will pound the ball inside and try to get these bigs in foul trouble, who can they turn to?

I think CCH is set at the guards, just a bit concerned about the depth of the bigs down low.

Schuh, Van Handorf and the young Heppler give height but not so sure on bulk. The Schult kid has some bulk. Will be needed to free up outside game.

Fair question and CCH will have trouble matching up down low with NCC. You've named the bigs.

Unless CVH has shot up he's about 6'1.

Ahh. Some reason thought he was taller.

He probably isn't finished growing. Dad looks to be 6'2 or 6'3.

A few concerns I have.

1. CVH will start at the 2. Will he be aggressive offensively or will he defer to Nick R? He can't defer.

2. Will CCH be able to get any points out of the post?

3. Will Bo's offensive game be more polished?

4. Who provides toughness? They had it last year. I'm not sure who provides it this year outside of Wichmann. Can't have just one player.

5. Who besides NickR can hit an outside shot in the starting 5?

If I'm an opposing coach I take NickR completely out of the game and make the other 4 show me they can produce. CVH will have problem being a 2nd PG but can the other 4 score when Nick is not?

Team has a chance to be good if those items are handled.

Saw some summer ball & they looked pretty good. I do think post play will be an issue for them. But I've seen CVH hit the outside shot a lot. He will impress some people with this team. I don't see defenses being able to lay off him to help on Nick. If so CVH will make him pay. I think after last year he will settle in just fine.
