Just got word that Highlands is playing at Scott County tomorrow night at 6:00. :banana: Apparently some type of fund-raiser for the crisis in Haiti. Not sure but I think they're playing Menefee(sp?) Co. Does anyone have any info about this event? I'm sure they'll be another game to follow???:idunno:

I was not at the game... I just don't think its right for a person that played at NC and graduated from there calling a game.:notworthy: Bias or NOT...

Highlands missed at least 3 FTs during a critical part of the game also... And was Coach Flynn sitting down??? I couldn't sworn I seen velcro on his back pants pockets during a time-out. :clap: IMO He showed great patience and poise with his team tonight and the players bounced back from a lackluster effort the night before.:ylsuper:

Seen both teams play and IMO Brossart is much better unless Hazard had some players missing in late December. :banana: But anyhow this tread is about the WILDCATS big Win!!! :banana: Congrats! To The Cats

:thumb: Great but makes sure you put the emphasis on having fun :banana: at the 3rd grade level and NOT get to caught up on winning championships. Make it fun for them first then the championship will come later. Give them lots of love... tell them what a great job they're doing even if they're playing bad and please, please don't put so much emphasis on winning. We're ruining our youth sports by placing so much emphasis on "winning" and not competing and having FUN. AGREED! - :thumb: :thumb: Coach has these boys playing scared make a mistake and you're coming out. A great way to destroy confidence. These boys want to be coached NOT humiliated. Its "old school" kids are different these days. You have to be a teacher, mentor, and even sometimes a big brother or dad for some of these kids ask Coach Henley (Holmes HS) or Coach Dilts(Dayton HS). A seventeen year old kid knows when he's stinking it up on the court and deserves to come out. But, that same kid wants to be coached and what he can do to improve and not make the same mistake the next time. Just making an observation about the Highlands kids they're the most coachable group I've ever seen. If coach says run "Flex" offense everytime down the court they'll do exactly what the coach wants... To a fault. One of the beauties of AAU ball is there's not alot of time to practice and the competition is much more fierce than it was lastnight. Teams whose players work together will be more successful, hence look at what Grubbs, Lother, Gordon, Grote, Dill, Smith-Keller's AAU team (with a little help from their Newport buddies McDaniel and Collins) did at the AAU Championship last spring (3rd place) including slaying the giant Elisha Justice's Derek Smith All-Stars by playing team ball. They only ran 3 set plays. But they got up in the other teams grill and played tough TEAM DEFENSE forced turn-overs and bad shots. And most of all put on an absolute clinic of how to get the ball to the open man. Its not X's and O's that win ballgames its TEAMWORK coaches, players and everyone involved working together. Basketball is not rocket science you DO NOT have to run a play everytime you go down the court to be successful. Finally let me close with this Quote: "The greatest single factor that makes a CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER is - your desire to be ONE, and the greatest quality of a CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM is its collective, dominating urge to WIN."

Great Observation: #1 Pitful team effort :puke: #2 Overcoaching I've never seen anything like it ranting and raving the whole game. Sit down coach and show some poise... these boys know how to play check their track record going back to the 7th grade. #3 Players are lost and are not playing with confidence. Against Shroder HS Tuesday night Coach Flynn instructed his players to get the ball inside. Stewart gets the ball on the foul line tries a little high-low action tries to throw the ball inside, makes a bad pass - ball goes out of bounds Coach Flynn yanks him out of the game. Not one coach comes over and says a word to him. Thats sad Jack's a good boy he wants to be coached and he'll try to do whatever the coach ask. Or tell a kid he's a horrible shooter and not to shoot the ball. Thats a joke especially when you're scoring 36 points. Coaches are suppose to be teachers of the game... not tear kids confidence down :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke: CONGRATULATIONS TO Coach Mullins and RYLE :clap: Big win against one of N.KY. best teams... Sometimes

Coach Dilts does and outstanding job with what he has to work with. I was very, very, impressed when I saw them play in the All-A classic at Newport last year. They were getting beat by 25 pts late in the 4th quarter and he was still up coaching like the game was still on the line. But most of all when he took a player out he told the player what he needed him to do to help the team. Coach Dilts is not just a coach he's a teacher of the game. Unfortunately we don't have enough of them. Top ten??? He's in the top 2-3. If he were at a bigger school he would definetly build a powerhouse. Go watch Dayton play but most of all watch how he handles his players. Nope... Seeing is believing Wasn't a fan before he came still ain't sold on him.

Not yet... Grote DID NOT dress against Cov. Cath. and NCC. He went to the doctor again this past Wednesday no word on what the doctor told him. IMO he will have to be healthy if Highlands wants to make a run for the Regional Championship regardless of their depth and experience

PCC came in 7-0 from the 14th Region I believe Unoffically the Birds made 12-25 FTs at least 3 were front-end of 1+1 bonus :cry: Pressed most of the game... press had little effect against PCC i.e., forcing turnovers, wearing them down. Highlands looked nice when they were out in transition. Struggled in the half-court set Kowolonek played most of the game along with Grote. They were a little rusty but glad to have them back :ylsuper: Play Winner of Cov. Scott - Lou Trinity tomorrow @ 3?

WOW can't beleive this group of seniors laid down and took this beating and Coach Flynn allowing it. Highlands looked like they were unprepared... expecting to get beat Why come out and play a 2-3 zone defense??? And keep running the same "flex" offense over and over and over :deadhorse: Not ready to throw in the towel on the Bluebirds but there's enough talent to compete with Newport even with the injuries. Newport has a very experienced team. Congrates to the Wildcats!!!

What's your take on him statewide??? avg 27 ppg! that's pretty impressive. I saw him play AAU ball last spring has a nice package. He has great size for a guard and he's one tough customer. :ylsuper:

Expect Grote back in the line-up Tues. against Newport @ Newport... Kowolonek is day-to-day tendinitis in the knee my guess would be this coming weekend for the tournament in Lexington.

CONGRATES TO BROSSART TONIGHT!!! Highlands came in giving up only 44 pts per game. They simply punched Highlands in the mouth in the 1st Q. 20-5. :notworthy: Highlands closed to 36-34 but Brossart controlled the rest of the game. :notworthy:
