CONGRATS!!! Newport

1st team in the ninth region to win 10 games! :thumb:

Congrats to Newport closer than I thought it would be any stats?

Conner has shown that they are simply inconsistent. They play well often but when they play poorly they play REALLY poorly. So nothing surprises me with them.

Another nice win by the Wildcats!

I thought Conner might get the Cats tonight but Newport held strong and won a tough ballgame. This could be a precursor for whats to come in the 9th Region tourney.

Im telling you the Cats are for real this year.

This was a very good game. Back and forth in the third quarter with neither team leading by more than 4 points.

In the 4th Conner took a 54-48 lead with 5:03 left and in less than a minute, Newport had stormed back to take a 55-54 lead at the 4:10 mark. Robinson responded with a 3 at the other end to push the lead back out to two at 57-55.

With 2:10 left the score was tied at 59-59. Newport took a 61-59 lead with 1:52 left and Conner tied it up 4 seconds later after two Tim Lang free throws.

On Newport's next possession Tucker hit a 3 in the corner to give the Cats a 64-61 lead.

Flesch answered at the other end to bring the score to 64-63, but Tucker hit two throws with 14 seconds left to push the lead to three at 66-63.

Conner came down and got two attempts at a three before Robinson grabbed the rebound and hit a jumper in the paint with 2 seconds left but Newport simply let the ball roll on the ground and the clock run out to preserve a 66-65 W.

I believe Luther led Newport in scoring with around 15 (give or take a few) and Tim Lang and Clay Robinson both had 15 for Conner.

I don't think you are getting too many arguments.

I won't argue it. I agree the Cats are a dangerous team to anyone, and they did what good teams do and that is find a way to win. However, this game could have easily have been Conner's. A missed three from the corner and this game belongs to the Cougars. I did not expect Conner to lead most of the game like they did. I still think after Holmes, NKY in general is wide open.

Tough to play 4 games in 4 days. Regardless of the score, nice showing from both teams.

Conner you hung with a more athletic team in Newport and put yourself in position to win the game.

Newport way to bounce back after a tough loss, and not play your best and still get the "W."

Four games in four days didn't seem to bother the Bulddogs. If I remember correctly they played four games in three days last march and did okay as well.

It bothers teams that dont have much depth like Newport this year.

Looking at the schedule looks like Newport plays Conner again in their next game on the 5th.
