  1. My only complaint with officials is consistency. If it's a violation early, it should be a violation late. I spend several nights a week in discussions with officials. I always try to be polite if they will engage me. I despise asking an official a question at a dead ball and being ignored.
  2. The best friends I've ever had played on a team with me. Same for my kids. In fact, the most influential people in my life have been parents, grandparents, coaches and team mates. Not sure what I would have done if I didn't have sports growing up.
  3. Good hire for Bath County. Not sure what the draw is for Williams though.
  4. If Shannon does want the job it's likely because his kids are in the Scott school district. Something that I would not want in this era of social media.
  5. 21-4 is nice but lets remember the level that they play. Scott is a step up from NCH without a doubt.
  6. I couldn't attend this year. Kids activities. It would be better if the games were played early enough that you could get young kids back at home and in bed before 10pm for school the next day.
  7. That was my recollection as well. Thanks for saying what I was thinking.
  8. Would it be fair to say there is a significant difference between JBS and PCC?
  9. Is he still a walk on or did they put him on scholarship?
  10. Would love to see a complete list of applicants for this job. Could be quite interesting.
  11. Was his experience there positive?
  12. Hard to be any more definitive than that....lol.
  13. I'd be in favor of requiring every coach and AD to vote for all stars by region and putting all 16 on the all state team along with up to 9 others selected by media to account for multiple stars from the same region. Got to be a better way.....
  14. It's fair to say that most coaches, in all sports, may struggle as they build a program from the grass roots. The key is whether parents/administration allow them to coach long enough to see their program flourish and reap the benefits of that early work. In this case, Grant has several youth teams playing in leagues that seem to be very talented.
  15. Always sad to hear of a life cut short. Prayers for the family and the JC community from Independence and SK.
  16. Congrats to Tanner, his family and the Ryle football community. Good luck at WMU!
  17. Is Brad staying on to teach at Scott? He was the ICE teacher, I believe. That would be awkward.
  18. Agree with BB in his comment. If you thought Brad was too intense, you need to look elsewhere if you're considering Minor. Maybe they'll pass out orange slices and participation trophies after practices in Taylor Mill.
  19. Morehead offers scholarships for cheerleading but none for football. What a shame.
  20. Anything new on tennis? Saw a tweet from the SK Athletic department that their JV girls tennis team was 45-5 on the season. That's either a ton of matches or a ton of kids competing.
  21. This issue is like life. Some folks follow the rules and do the right thing, no matter the consequences. Others choose to break the rules, do what they think is best even though its not an accepted practice and don't care about the consequences because they'll just threaten to sue someone.
  22. Kids want to play where their friends are playing or where a parent pushes them to play when going out of district. Why would a parent send a kid out of district unless it's to chase a ring? Maybe a beef with a coach? You could easily argue that no one should get a transfer granted unless you can show legal documents that the primary care giver has moved and maintains residence in the new district (no 'renting' in one district but living in the original district).
  23. If you allow the one move, I'd assume that any subsequent move would make that player permanently ineligible? Doing so might make the ring chasing parent think twice.
  24. Way too early.
