I have seen some games on saturday mornings. The 7th and 8th grade league. I think St Therese and Holy Trinity have a few decent girls. St Mary 8th grade seem competitive but I think those girls will go to Brossert.

I was at a game last night at St Catherine and overheard a parent talking stating that St Therese and St Catherine kids are looking at Highlands due to the economy. Tuition at private schools are a factor for some families. If this is the case,Highlands will benefit from some of the talent of these girls.

Mike Kiernan is the trainer at NCC and father of this girl. I think chances are good she will attend NCC. How about guard play?

Does Newport Catholic feeder schools have any girls that can contribute to NCC basketball team? I have seen a few schools play but not sure where these girls will attend high school.

I agree. I feel these girls are not developing. I know some of the rural schools like Bracken,Mason pull up 7th and 8th graders to play jv and varsity. I guarantee these same girls would not make jv or varsity at some of the nky schools. Watching some of them play I feel they don't have the fundamentals down. Watched Bracken middle school and not one could even do a lay up correctly. Eventually it will catch up

Is there going to be an 8th grade team? It is ashame that the 5th grade last year couldn't have played up to help out the 7th grade team. They lost a year of practicing and competing due to a rule which is now thrown to the wayside. If there is no 8th grade team what is the chance of a freshman team 2010. I know you may get incoming freshmen but what is the chance of getting enough kids to be good enough to compete. I think St.Pat is a great school but was disappointed in the way the sports program was ran. Good Luck to Elaine Douglas who in my opinion is a class act and has the best interest of the girls. I wish well to the Lady Saints and really hope the program thrives.

Can someone give me info on Holy Cross coach and team. We are planning to relocate in that area and my daughter would be playing ball there. Any Feedback?

Could it be possible some of the 7th or 8th graders might transfer over to St.Pats? Elaine Douglas is a great coach and these girls could definitely benefit from her as a coach. Is this rumor or truth?

Bracken will never excel because they are caught up in the name game. Always have and always will. Kids at the middle school age that have talent but are overlooked because of the politics, eventually quit because of neglect. If the coaches would take interest in these kids and develop them but instead focus on relative kids, friends, etc. Just what is observed. Sorry

Maybe if their administration did not put that ridiculous rule on kids not allowed to play up more than one grade they would have enough numbers Thats great their winning but the only way to get better is playing better competition.

Refs werent the best...and St.Pat couldnt hit their shots =/.

I can't believe I am reading these comments about Coach Douglas. How when the tables are turned the other coach is the bad guy. Mason lost and by a big margin. Quit crying.

Sent my daughter last year to Pat Summit's camp. Pat comes to all the sessions and does a picture with your child. Great experience.

I think what upset me is the fact you have relatives or parent coaching the frosh,jv,or varsity team pulling up their 7th grader which is taking away playing time from a high schooler with just equal or better talent. I do not want to mention the schools that come to mind but I think it is unfair.

Pulling jerseys, pushing, or hard play, I think thats coached. But pushing them down when they are already injured..thats their nature.. in my opinion

Sometimes, the coach/parent brings their 8th or 7th child up to the high school level, and they aren't ready to play to that level and most likely the high schoolers quit! :ohbrother:

I feel unless you have an exceptional 7th or 8th grader who is having exceptional stats is each game should be playing. I find there is alot of the name game. Correct me if I am wrong? I just think it is ashame you have talented upper classmen and they loose interest in the game because of playing time and end up quitting.
