I am glad the refs let them play the Varsity game because the freshmen game was tightly called. Nice group of freshmen for NCC. Triple Header with close good games. Good sweep for newcath. -
Greenwell Leads NATION in Scoring

I totally agree with the previous post. A leader must make her teammates better. I observed this the other night at the NCC and Holy Cross game. NCC play total team ball. Scoring for the most part evenly amongst the team and winning. I love watching this over a one man show anyday. Holy Cross has talent but was a one man show. -

It is sad that this girl will have to sit out at all. Crazy. It would be one thing if St Pats was stacking a team but please they barely have a bench. Good Luck to Ms Lykins. Hopefully, you will not be denied to play the sport you love. -
Seems like your daughter has a grip on the situation. Regardless what happened the bottom line is a determined player is being held back in the hands of a highschool coach. Is this individual really that qualified to be in this role??? What a shame. I like how fingers start pointing at the kid. She played for 3 years and now not skilled enough...Seriously...And I repeat what a shame

Don't know the circumstances but...isnt it amazing how a coach can influence a kids life. Some good but some that can have negative lasting impressions. As parents it is so hard to see this happen. Good Luck and I can totally relate but fortunately my daughter was alot younger and it was an easier transition.

Focusing on one sport????
cincy firestorm replied to cincy firestorm's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Fastpitch would interfere with AAU. I think her passion is basketball and I am hoping after this season she will stick with it. I don't want to push her to hard but just want to guide her in the right direction. I hear pros and cons on concentrating on one sport. She actually quit fastpitch a few years ago because of the conflict. -
My daughter who is a freshman told me she is thinking of not playing AAU and playing fast pitch next year. Fast pitch coach told her she should not just play one sport so she uses other muscles. I am upset since she has played aau around 4years. Is this good advice or bogus??

Michael Jordon got cut his freshman year...hmmm. Poor judgement on the coach, wouldn't you say?? Why crush a kids confidence. Encourage them and give them confidence. If life was about giving up without even putting forth your best effort it would be a sad world. I just found it very ironic this coach is also a teacher. I sure hope he has a higher vote of confidence for his students in the classroom than on the ball field.

I heard something pretty disturbing from a parent yesterday. Her daughter approached the highschool coach about trying out for softball and this coach told her there is no way she could catch up with the other girls. This particular coach is also a math teacher. Wow.... Are we not suppose to encourage our youth to get involved with school activities. This particular girl played softball when she was younger and wanted to start playing. I am very fortunate we were in a situation to move our daughter from this school system at a very young age and give her the opportunity to grow. I dont want to mention the coach but this should be a lifelesson on how we can be mentors to our youth. This young lady said "oh well I guess I am not good enough". Great coaching and teaching. Thank god my daughter is now in a school with excellent coaches that truley care about the kids.

Holy Cross Coaching Position

I think NCC has a good shot at all A again. I know HC got some good talent from Holmes but NCC has a lot of experience and chemistry. We shall see. -
You can only have 2 girls from the same highschool on a team. I think they changed this rule when LeBron James played AAU. I don't think Ky has the same rule
