  1. There is a team in this tournament that will bring their freshmen that play JV/V and let them play down in this tournament. This team has done it for the last two years. It is not right to the freshmen who have played together as a team all season, but it happens. If the freshmen have played up all year then they should finish playing up with the JV/V teams that they are playing with. Let the freshmen team have their playing time, and give the freshmen who have played up playing time with either the JV/V teams, whoever they have played for...IMO
  2. Four schools in the same year and two are prep schools? I would not think their curriculum is a joke, or on the same track academically. How could they be??
  3. It also bothers me that this father had to miss 1)his daughter scoring her first varsity points and 2)a very exciting and well played game by both teams. Hopefully HC can resolve this issue soon! Congrats to this young lady on her first varsity points! Congrats to both teams on a great game!
  4. When looking at overachievers and underachievers, you also have to look at the team's strength of schedule. Just because a team is doing better or has a winning record does not mean that they have improved if they do not schedule teams that they can compete with. Conner's record is surprising I agree, but he plays a very competitive schedule which will help him later.
  5. None of the colleges are in Kentucky, but all of them are within driving distance in the surrounding states. They all saw her this past summer when she played on her AAU team.
  6. She has not received anything from NAIA schools, only DII and DIII schools. She has received both snail mail and email every day this week and now has 20+ letters of interest. She received two emails today from two different colleges wanting her to schedule visits. This will make six visits if she can get them scheduled.
  7. I am not going to post her name or school here at this time. I will post it when the time is right.
  8. All of the schools that she is talking to and setting up visits with now are DII and DIII. A few DI schools have watched her but none have contacted her so far.
  9. I did tell this to the AD but he still agreed with the coach. The school is fairly new. There is some talent on the team but they have yet to have a winning season. I took all of the letters from the colleges and copies of emails from the college coaches to this meeting and the AD only thumbed through them but would not look at them. Another post asked if academics were an issue. No, they are not. And Bearcat, I agree with you, it is a shame and very sad that a school can do this to a child
  10. I don't remember a potential college player ever being cut either. Our team is not loaded! If there is more to the story I do not know it. I have also followed girls basketball for many years and have never seen a girl get cut for "skillset". I'm also pretty sure we are not talking about the State Champions
  11. She played both JV and Varsity her Sophomore and Junior year, but mostly JV. In any case, wouldn't her Varsity play make it hard to transfer her by KHSAA rules? Besides, aren't tryouts finished for most teams now? She would transfer, if she could, even with this being her Senior year. She knows girls in most of the schools in our area because of her AAU ball. I have met with the coach and AD. Coach said the same thing, that she was cut for lack of "skill set" and that she put the best people on the team that she thought she had. I asked how that was possible when she cut a possible college recruit and why would she deny a child's chance to go to college? The AD told me that it was the coach's job to develop the program, not the person. She has an awesome attitude and demeanor, even with all of this going on. She is strong and determined. She has a personal trainer that she has worked with for over a year now and she will keep working. Sorry "Hang up the high tops" is not in her vocabulary.
  12. My daughter, who is a senior, was recently cut from her high school varsity basketball team. The coach's reason was that she did not have the "skill set" to be a varsity basketball player. Their JV coach gave her most improved JV player award last year. She has played AAU ball the last few years. She has letters from 15 colleges that are interested in her playing college basketball and the same week that she was cut, she went on a college visit. She has another college visit scheduled next Friday and she is trying to schedule two more. Several of these 15 colleges want copies of her schedule so they can come watch her play. What is she supposed to say to these college coaches?
