  1. Ok, I don't understand all the talk between Brossart and Campbell on this post. First of all I am a CCHS grad. I see no reason to not allow Brossart to use the football field when the CCHS is not using it. If they want to play on that pile of crap field, let them. There has been a lot of money spent on that field, most of them stupid ideas that never worked. There has also been money offered up to pay for turf on that field but "some people" decided it was not a good idea because the donor wanted the field to be open to all youth sports when it was not in use by the high school or middle school (see Highlands). People keep saying that the board has not cared about the football program in years, where is this coming from? If anything most people in the County care about football too much. When was the last time the football team had any success? They have some talented players year in and year out but nothing to show for it. There are other sports at CCHS that have had more success than that football program over the last 10 years. Why is this just being stated as a new football field? Why can't the girls or boys soccer programs use the fields for district or regional tournaments or when the weather doesn't work out for natural surface. Yes, the baseball, softball, and soccer programs all have nice fields out there on campus and I am not against the football team receiving a new stadium but lets open it up so it can have more use that just a "football stadium". By the way, ask the lady who is in charge of the fields in Campbell County about the million dollars spent on that joke of a field up there over the last 10 or so years. She could have already paid for a turf field.
  2. Are the dugouts and bullpens the same for Home and Visitors at CCH baseball field? The visiting pitcher has about 3 feet to stride off the rubberbefore he steps over a 3 inch ledge onto concrete in the visiting bullpen and the dugout is much worse. Care to respond???
  3. Both of the '90 games were bowl games Corbin - HHS was in the Thoroughbred Bowl Belfrey - HHS was in the Pike County Bowl Not sure about '94 but would be willing to bet it was the Thoroughbred bowl as HHS played in that game almost every year during the late '80s through the '90s
  4. 1992 Thoroughbred Bowl Birds beat Paducah Tilghman with a late comeback, not sure of exact score, maybe 25-24 1993 Thoroughbred Bowl Bell Co. - 10 HHS - 7 Birds missed short FG as time expired.
  5. Can you not find anything positive to say about this hire? He is an alumni but has never coached at CCHS. Hopefully himself and this team will prove you wrong.
  6. His interview was yesterday so you may be right. I think they got some sticking points worked out and I wouldn't be surprised if he is announced by tomorrow afternoon. Let's hope they do right by him because I think he will be good for the program seeing as what the boys have been through losing a great coach in Code.
  7. Probably true on the tenure point but he probably also wants full control and they are probably not going to give that to him. As far as the discipline point from a few post back, not sure where that is coming from. Examples? I will give you my take. I have been coached by Aric many years ago and thought he was an excellent motivator and great coach. Yes, he is a buddy to his players which can sometimes seem that he is more of a friend than a coach and teacher but this probably stims from his background. He is what CCHS needs if they are willing to meet his requirements. That school is in no position to be sticklers about tenure or control. Their decisions have put them on the hot seat and they need to do something to save face. Aric may be the answer. Everybody has the right to their own opinion about him of course.
  8. I have heard the same thing about Aric Russell. There was talk about him leaving the coaching ranks but he maybe the only on who could possibly deal the administration as it stands now. 1. Former High School Standout at CCHS. The "County" would riot if he were treated like Code was. 2. Well respected. 3. Has the experience of being a former AD. 4. Worked under Principal Boots at Newport. I would love if Russell would come to Campbell County. I sure didn't want to possibly see him come CCHS because Code got fired but we have to move on and deal with the situation. My other pick would be Sean Maddy, Freshman coach currently at CCHS. I know unexperienced on the varsity level but he has to get a shot sometime.
  9. Tell me how to help get him out of the postion and I would gladly add my voice.
  10. Coach Code does have tenure. Not sure if that changes anything. I was told by an active varsity coach in NKY that their district does a 3 vote system at a public high school. Wouldn't this be state wide? I understand the 1 year contract deal and the appeal system.
  11. There is a lot of talk of who was responsible for letting Code go, myself as well. Please confirm this for me. To fire/let go of a coach from a public high school in the State of Kentucky you must receive 2 out of 3 votes to be let go or hired. These 3 votes usually come from the AD, High School Principal, and someone from the school board. So if Jones was let go two weeks ago and didn't get a vote, are we to assume that the vote to let Code go had came from the Principal and a Board Member (Strong, etc.)? Just trying to figure out who is making these awful decisions so the blame can be given to the right people.
  12. Please read my follow up. I was not aware that Jones was let go as AD weeks ago. So I take back my blame on him. This looks like its was handed down from the desk of one Anthony Strong.
  13. Sorry, did not realize Bob Jones was let go. Heck of a basketball coach but a questionable AD. Best of luck to him and best of luck to Coach Code. He will have no problem finding another coaching job.
  14. I wonder if this decision came from the pathetic Campbell County School Board or our so called Athletic Department at Campbell County. Don't get me wrong, Bob Jones was a very respectable coach but I think time has passed him by when it comes to being an athletic director. Their decisions make no sense. Code is a good coach and the kids played hard for him. Now you are going to go in and change it up for them again? It is crazy. It looks like if you sign up to coach in Campbell County that you might as well have a 3 year plan because thats how long your are going to last. I know the iron is still hot on this one but the deed has been done. Now they need to look for a new coach....any ideas? I will toss out a couple names of former Campbell County players, Aric Russell if you could get him away from Newport or Sean Maddy who is already an assistant. Don't think Carr would ever come to Campbell County. They have probably scared off every other coach with their actions to where you would almost have to have some ties to the school to see past all the Board and Administration bull crap.
  15. I totally agree. They really messed up when they did not allow enough land for a new football stadium at the new high school location. With the new stadium should have came turf. Everything in this county is poorly planned. I will say this though, they have an excellent baseball and softball facility. They really need a new football stadium but I don't know if I would put too much money into the football program until they improve. To see how good these kids are in middle school and youth football and then turn around and bomb in high school is sad. There is something wrong in CCHS with football when you have so much talent and so little to show for it.
  16. Not ragging on the kid? Actually you are by saying he is not good enough to play there but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I guess the coaches saw something in him that you did not. He can handle the ball pretty well for 6'5" and can shoot the lights out, not sure how that will convert in the DII Level but wishing him the best.
  17. Campbell County will lose a lot but they will return one of best Soph's in the state in Nate McGovney and Cory Cox should be someone to watch. Mason Monroe from Pendleton is top notch. Not to familiar with other schools in the 10th's underclassmen.
  18. Sean Maddy for Campbell County should be up and coming. Great young coach who is well liked by his players. Knows his basketball.
  19. For the most part I am happy with what I have seen out of Coach Code. I do question some of his play calling and planning during the game but who doesn't. I am not qualified to coach high school basketball but it is still ok to question a coaches decision but not to ask for his head because you don't like the way he does it. He gets a lot out of his players and I don't think you can ask for anything more than that. He may need to change his style according to the quality of players he has but I think he will be just fine. As far as his assistants goes he has one of best up and coming coaches in the region, Sean Maddy. Mark it down, if he doesn't end up the head coach at CCHS in a few years then he will be somewhere else in NKY trying to hand us a loss every year. Coach Code needs to stay but may need to change up the style a little bit.
  20. Has anyone on here got the facts straight? I have seen scholarship and walk on. Which one is it?
  21. That is a matter of opinion. Why can't we just say congrats and move on? Are some of us really questioning the recruiting of a D2 college basketball coach with a pretty good track record?
  22. I say give him more varsity minutes. The amount of time he gets on the floor is sporatic at best. One game he plays 40% and the next 20%. In the Brossart game it seemed like they had him sit almost the whole 3rd quarter. He looked more pumped up and excited about that game than most of the other Camel players. Once again I go back to the old "stick with the same lineup". Doesn't matter what grade level you are in. If you are one of the best five on the team then you should be on the floor. PERIOD!
  23. Oh, and Sheperd. I can count on one hand the amount of times that John Wall has been double teamed this year. He is a point guard in a dribble drive offense...you seriously think he has been double teamed more than 10% of time.
  24. I am speechless. Don't know what to say to this. I was at the game and didn't see any difference in the playing time or offense when it applies to Jolly. He was just double teamed (a few times) and guarded by Reiger. That makes it tuff. He did not have the bulk to match up with Reiger anyway, makes a huge difference in such a physical game. I really don't know what your hang up is with coach Code and probably never will but I have been to every game this year except for the Dixie game. I myself have questioned some of his moves but never once have I thought I could have done something better in the situation. He is a proven coach and me....., just a proven fan of basketball. The only thing as a "FAN" that I don't understand is rolling with the same 5 starters for the beginning of every quarter. Would just like to see it switched up a bit. He will get it figured out and as long as they are ready by district play then I am happy. IT IS NOT JUST THE COACH BUT THE BOYS HAVE TO PRODUCE AS WELL! At some point you need to stay on or get off the Camels bandwagon.
