  1. You couldn't ask for a better game than this early season district matchup. The atmosphere is great and what a great rivalry. I hope that when Brossart gets their new sports complex that they can have a little larger gym and they can play these games on their home courts. The noise level in both gyms would be amazing. I think Reiger and Jolly will not be heard from much in this game. Both teams are going to try and make the supporting cast beat them. I give the supporting cast edge to Brossart right now but mainly for their heart. These boys come out and scratch and claw to win games. The Camels have a good supporting cast that is starting to come together but still has some work to do. I think Code is still trying to figure out how to use the players off the bench and what they are going to give him. I think Neises, Kennedy, and McGovney will have to be the deference makers in this game for Campbell County. I am going to say that there is going to be more points scored in this game than people think. CC 56 - BB 53.
  2. C3P, I think you made some very good points but I need to add one more. Not just in basketball but in all high school sports in the public schools you have a certain rule that can hold some programs back. It is the rule of being employed by the school district. They require you to have so many hours of college credits to get a head coaching job in the public schools. So lets say you are an above average coach who lands a job as Head basketball coach at "School A". They want you to teach Math on the freshman level. This is a full days work load and you have to get your varsity prepared for a couple of games a week. Now the question is....when is there time to over see a youth league? This also keeps public schools from hiring better quality coaches sometimes because they may not want to work for that school district or they may have a better paying job outside the school system. Take away the credit hours rule and do not insist on the coach working for the school district and you may have some better coaches out there. Hard to dedicate time when your time is limited. Maybe someone can tell me if there are any rules like this setup for the Catholic/Private Schools?
  3. Pendleton County played a hard fought game and deserved this win. Their offense looked more like the dribble drive then CCHS did. I don't agree that Mason Monroe won that battle though. Mason made things happen for his offense with assist but not much scoring, he also played pretty good D. McGovney didn't see half as much time due to foul trouble and scored 5 w/ 5 boards and 1 assist. I would say what they brought to the table was pretty even. Pendleton County won the battle tonight. Camels need to keep working on this new offense because that offense looked liked last years, when I heard dribble drive I was expecting a lot more running up and down the court and not so much passing. Code is got time to get this right though. I believe he can do it. Needs to have it done before next week against are district rival Brossart.
  4. Ok, I questioned your reasons and if your statements about Wayne are true then I would have to question some of his decisions. As far as Schweitzer is concerned I don't think the kids would get along with him too well. He would be ripping those kids a new one in practice and on the mound during game time. This was witnessed by other coaches that have played against Brossart this year. I think he would be a good coach but will the players get along with him? That is the question. Mike should get the job. The JV squad has excelled.
  5. That is the question!! We will have to see what developes. I think Code is a great coach but I find Maddy's brand of basketball to be more exciting. He pushes the ball up the floor.
  6. From what I have heard, he has been tearing up the AAU circuit as well. I will checking his team out in the next couple of weeks. Totally forgot about Nerl being Maddy's brother, thanks for reminding me. All these boys (Maddy&Nerl, McGovney) come from really good home environments. That really means a lot, most of the time.
  7. Just a side note on my last comment. The talent comment when it comes to McGovney comparison to Maddy was no knock on Maddy's talent. I grew up with this guy and he was a great athlete who didn't start playing organized basketball until 8th grade and even then could jump out of the gym. Just saying that McGovney is better in more areas of his game. He will have to earn his playing time behind Jolly and the other upperclassmen though. I believe Maddy is being groomed for the head coaching position in the future with CCHS or at least should be.
  8. I believe with the pieces that the Camels have in place they could do either, run or grind. With a mix of freshman/sophs and the junior and seniors this could happen. With McGovney and Skinner they can push the ball up the floor when they are in the game and the upperclassman can probably play that grind it out style a little better. As far as McGovney goes, what a kid! He makes great grades and is one of the most talented players in the state for his age. His personality is great and does not walk around with a bloated ego. Hope some college's start taking a look at this kid. Reminds me a lot of his coach last year, Sean Maddy but with more talent. Should be an interesting season.
  9. Sorry, I should have explained more. I, myself, have never saw the Camels beat the Breds at home in a few years. Hopefully we will see a rematch in the Region with a Camels win.
  10. It really all came down to pitching. The bats were really alive for both teams. I thought the Camels hit the ball with a lot more power than the Breds but the Breds found holes. Camels played better defense but I thought the baserunning of the Breds was a little better. When the Camels put in Albright (not sure the spelling) thats when things kind of fell apart. He couldn't throw strikes consistantly and got in trouble with bad counts. I haven't seen the Camels beet Harrison in a few years but this was there chance. Not sure if they didn't want to show some of their other pitchers in relief before the Region but you got to get past the districts first. Really good game though. #13 for the Camels was mashing everything he hit last night. Good luck to the Camels seniors as they move on.
  11. That is a pretty bold statement.....jealous of his talent? Hopefully he is that good and gets back on the field. Staying out of trouble is key.
