Defense was rewarded. I had to burn a time out because my player got his self trapped in the corner (in which he will hear about as soon as he gets to the bench). And I also lost a timeout that since it is middle school, I would probably need. Heck most high school teams use all their timeouts so having to use one for this reason is not a "HUGE" offensive advantage.

Just thinking, since 2004/2005 through the 2014/2015 season the 40th District has had 16 coaches. The breakdown goes: Bourbon 6 coaches George Rogers Clark 1 coach (lucky you) Montgomery County 6 coaches Paris 3 coaches Has any other District has this much turnover in a 10 year period?

Both will be seniors. Joe would be a shooting guard that has the ability to take the ball to the basket as well as shoot the deep three. Braxton has been used in a subs role as point guard and small forward. The potential is there. Will they finally make something out of it????

The things going in this teams favor are: 1. They have played together especially the seniors. 2. This will be Coach Daniels 3rd year with this group. 3. Also, my understanding is that the assistants stayed on and this will be there 3rd year. The hidden gem could be if Joe Chism and Braxton Hopkins can play up to their potential. They are both outstanding athletes that could make a big difference in the type of season that Montgomery County has.

He might be around the girls game for awhile. I believe his daughter plays ball and is in middle school.

Battle Ground Academy has named former Brentwood second baseman Jonathan Hackett as its new baseball coach. Hackett, 32, coached Montgomery County (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) the past two seasons. He led the Indians to a District 40 title in 2013 before finishing second this season. Hackett replaces Brad Myers, who resigned in May to become baseball coach at Grace Christian Academy. Hackett was a BGA assistant in 2006 when the team finished as the Division II runner-up with a 32-8 record. BGA hires former Brentwood baseball player as coach

Brent Bach, Augusta's all-time leading scorer in basketball, spent part of Saturday afternoon shooting jumpers with another famous Augusta hoops alum: George Clooney. Matt Daniel always expected to be a head coach. Maybe not when he was 26 years old and maybe not at Montgomery County. But that’s how things worked out and last Thursday afternoon at the MCHS cafeteria, surrounded by family, players, fellow coaches, parents, fans and school personnel, Matt Daniel was introduced as the new head boys’ basketball coach of the Montgomery County Indians. “I’m really humbled by this opportunity,” Daniel said. “I have such a good feeling toward the people of this community, our school and our players and I’m excited about the chance to lead this program.” Daniel becomes the Indians’ fifth coach in the last five years, following Keith Greisser, Tony Wise, Happy Osborne and Jason Holland. Although that scenario would make it sound like Daniel was taking over a program in distress, the only distress actually seems to be that there will have been five coaches in a five-year period. In fact, all of the changes is apparently one reason Daniel was chosen for the job. Although he is untested as a head coach, Daniel has been with the program the last two years and promises to add some stability to the squad. “I’ve had a chance to work with these guys the last two years at the junior varsity level,” Daniel said. “That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about this opportunity. We’ve got some outstanding talent and I’m looking forward to trying to help develop these players and this team into the best group they can be.” Daniel grew up in a basketball family. His mother was an outstanding player at the collegiate level at Shawnee State and his father is a long-time high school coach who spent several years at Rowan County where Matt helped lead the Vikings to the state tournament before moving on to University of the Cumberlands at Williamsburg. There he played for Coach Donnie Butcher. “I guess you could say I was a gym rat, spending a lot of time with my Dad, even going on scouting trips with him when I was not very old. He’s been a great influence on me.” When Happy Osborne got the Montgomery County job two years ago he contacted Daniel about coming on board as an assistant coach and he accepted that post. Since being at Montgomery County, Daniel and his wife, Amber, have witnessed the birth of their first child, Cayden. His wife, incidentally, was an outstanding player at Cumberlands herself. Mt.
