The Montgomery County High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Rob Ledington as the

baseball coach and Kevin Lawson as the boys’ golf coach. Both have many years of teaching

and coaching experience, including collegiate level, and have achieved personal and professional

success.

Coach Ledington has coached for twenty-five years, including two years as head coach at Sue

Bennett College where the team advanced to NJCAA and NAIA Regionals. During five years of

coaching a summer program, The London Hummers, the team advanced to four state

championship finals, winning one. In the past seven years as a head coach, Ledington’s team

advanced to regional tournament play six times, won two regional championships, one sectional

championship, and four district championships, and had one “Elite Eight” appearance.

I don't think I would have left Corbin to go to Montgomery County. I would think he had a better shot at going to state in the 13th...but best of luck to him with the Indians.

Ledington tends to change jobs often. He was an asst. at Corbin for several years before taking the Bell Co. job for 1 year and leading them to the 13th region title. He then went to Whitley Co. for a year before taking the Corbin head coaching job in 2010.

His wife was the asst. girl's basketball coach under Parsons and applied for the job when she left in 2013, but did not get it, which most believe led to this move.

To me Corbin is a great job with top notch facilities, any idea who the front runner may be?

I would have thought that ex-Redhound Jake Mahan may have been in line for the job. He was an asst. coach under Ledington, but he accepted the softball job at Corbin just a few days before Ledington resigned, so I'm not really sure if he would change his mind and apply for the opening or not. Maybe Coach Garmon will come back.

Trey Smith, son of G.J. Smith, was also an asst. on Ledington's staff and would be a good choice.
