  1. I hope Pikeville can get it together. They need some stability and the turnover for coaches in their program has been pretty bad. If they are looking for someone new, what quality coach will they be able to find if they can not commit to supporting someone longterm. (or at least for more than a season.)
  2. 1. Its a Wonderful Life, 2. Miracle on 34th Street, and 3. Christmas Story. Am I showing my age?
  3. I am happy to hear your son is good. WOW an adventure to remember. I worry about dear on the road and my own son out driving enough as it is!!!
  4. In Greenup County over the last few years our banquet has been hosted at the school. We cater in a meal, usually ribs with all the fixens. This year we are going to host it at Greenbo State Park. We are excited about the change in venue. The boys have always been expected to come to the banquet in dress slacks and ties. We will continue that tradition. Each year we honor our seniors by featuring them in the banquet program (color pictures, bios, future plans, etc.) We also present them with a special trophy and their senior flags. These flags are made at the start of the season and are hung at all games. They are given a highlights film which includes additional senior pictures. They are also given a special gift from the boosters. Trophies, Letters and letterman chevrons are given out. We have, over the last few years, given letters and trophies to athletes for participation, not performance, i.e. playing time. This is one area that may be changing in the near future. I have mixed feelings about this, (and before it comes up let me state that I do not have a dog in this debate. My son qualifies either way). This year, players elected teammates for special awards (by position) and these will be given out at the Banquet. I think this is a great way to honor the extra effort given in a variety of positions. Coach will make remarks about each player. We will also have a special guest speaker. The players are given tickets for their immediate family. Additional tickets can be purchased for $5. The boosters also provide invitations and tickets to folks who have helped the team out during the year, such as; our flag staff, the folks who paint the field, the announcer, other sponsors and administrative staff. All the costs related to the Banquet are paid for by the boosters. So let's hear it, What are your traditions? What changes do you make year-to-year?
  5. We are changing a lot of things at Greenup this year in regards to how we handle the end of year banquet. I am curious as to how our traditions match up with other schools and also to see if the things we are going to be doing in the future are consistent with other programs.
  6. Curious to find out how other schools handle their Football Banquets/ Awards Ceremonies. Where do you hold your banquets? What do you serve? What awards are given? Who pays? Does every player get a trophy or just a certain few?
  7. Congratulations to Boyle County. What a great season!
  8. Woke up to our first snow fall here in Greenup County. I am finally in the mood for Christmas!
  9. In Greenup County they are "allowed" to go. They must use personal days. The school pays for the tickets only. The Boosters are paying for a portion of the meals and hotel. We feel this is an investment in the personal development of our Coach.
  10. :thumb: The length of the season is fine. More practice time on the front end would be my only change!
  11. Congratulations to LCA on the win, hope you can finish out the season as champions. Raceland Rams, proud to be your neighbor up the river. You guys have proven that hardwork, discipline, and most importantly, playing TEAM football can accomplish great things!
  12. Congratulations to Bell County. You have what it takes, now go out and win the rest of them. Lawrence County has had a tremendous year and a great turn-a-round for their program. Best of luck to their seniors.
  13. Pancake breakfast tomorrow morning from 8-11 at the High School. The boys will be cooking and serving. Hope to see everyone out to support the team!
  14. :thumb: I would of spent more time with my kids when they were younger, kept in touch with old friends, taken more risks, not worried about what others thought, loved more and been angry less...
  15. I think Bell will win this one, but I am pulling for Lawrence. What an incredible season they have had and I hate to see it end this Friday night!
  16. Congratulations to Lawrence County! Give Bell County heck next week!
  17. Give everyone in the family a house, car and plenty of spending money. Build a multi-million dollar community center with olympic swimming pool in Greenup County Get turf for the football field Get tutors for my boys and then travel the world!
  18. :thumb: My thoughts exactly Painter. Great job Rams! Keep playing hard!
  19. Prayers are going out for you.
  20. East Carter only has two very small sets of visitor bleachers. Most visitors end up standing.
  21. Congratulations to Bell County. We had a good trip down and quite a few Musketeer Fans rolled in to watch their team one last time. This has been a heck of a season and we have overcome quite a bit. The Foundation for the Future has been laid. Getting back to the basics, attention to detail, leadership, a renewed emphasis on academics are all stepping stones to a brighter future for Greenup County Football. Seniors, we are all so proud of you. You have hung in there through some really rocky times at GCHS. You have played your hearts out, hung with your teamates and worked hard to make this team better. You will leave a legacy. Coach Copley and staff, we are proud of the work you do with our young men. You have done a great job this year and you have our continued support. Best of Luck to Bell on the rest of their season.
  22. Congratulations Raceland Rams! Keep playing hard and good luck next week!
