Devils will win. Raceland can't beat a good team.

Evidently neither can Russell. Ask Ironton, Ashland, or Mason County. Should be a good ballgame then.

This game should be a good game to watch, a prediction would be hard to justify. But, I do expect a good game. The only prediction that I will make is: big, big, big crowd.

As for one comment, well, what can I say, every school has a few.

We should be okay then:thumb:!

I always vote with my heart. Come on Raceland, this is a BIG Game, BIG Rivalry and I would love to see you put this one away!

THE TEAM needs our noseman and linebacker back for this game...We must be healthy.

I'm surprised at how few posts it took for this one to already get snippy! :-)

I'm with Ram in that I enjoy the environment for games like this more than anything. I think it's a good rivalry. For example, I went to the Raceland-Fairview game a couple weeks ago and sat on the Raceland side. They announced the 1st half score of Mason County 28 Russell 0 and I heard several Ram fans around me comment in approval. Conversely, they announced the 1st half score of LCA 35 Raceland 0 last night at the Russell game and I heard several Russell fans around me comment in approval. That sort of summarizes how these teams feel about each other.

When these 2 teams renewed this rivalry a couple of years ago, the teams were thought of as possible state title contenders. This year, neither team has had those sort of expectations and quite frankly, neither team has shown any signs of being state title contenders. However, this game should be a pretty evenly matched contest and great preparation for the playoffs for each side.

I know it sounds cliche, but I think the winner of this one will be the team that "wants it more". I hope both teams are at full strength for what should be a great game.

Ryan, I agree, I enjoy the environment of these type of games. The Raceland/Russell, Russell/Ashland, Raceland/Ashland games and the like are what I think of when I think of high school football games, big crowds, spirited competition, and a great environment. If you like high school football, then those games are what you look forward to. I just hope for good weather and a huge crowd.

Likewise, the two fan bases for these respective schools don't seem to care much for each other, and that's fine, they don't have to. But, putting this game back on the schedule was one the best things both schools have done in a while, the playoff atmosphere helps both teams, no matter if some Russell fans dispute that fact, and the money that both schools make off of this game can't be disputed. It's a win win situation as far as I'm concerned.

Most of the fans of these two schools (as well as the coaches) get along fine. It's a small percentage of ridiculous fans who act like idiots about this game. Of course, you can say that about alot of HS rivalries in the Tri-state area.

You're completely right, it's just that small percentage that makes the most noise, thank God those people are no longer around here. But, most of the fans do get a long and enjoy this game.

Have you seen this thread on the "other" site? It's not a small percentage over there:popcorn:

Did Farley sustain a hand injury or did I dream that? If he did, what is his status. I apologize for being out of the loop, been in the deer woods the last few days.
