With several very lopsided games this week: Lawrence County 75 Shelby Vally 14 Perry Central 63 Knott County 8 Pike Central 50 Boyd County 0 How much is to much? Are the days of putting in the second or even third string players when a team is so obviously outmatched a class act from a bygone era? What are your thoughts?

And from what I have seen from your team when they come to Greenup County for Camp, you are teaching your young men a lot more than just football. Class act all around!

Notre Dame shut out Fayettville-Perry last week 33-0. They racked up 240 rushing yards and have a pretty good QB in Hannah who passed for 199 yards with ZERO interceptions. This team has a new head coach and is not the same team the Musketeers faced last year. REMEMBER what it is like to be the underdog and really want the WIN. Don't look any farther down the road than this Saturday Night. Focus on your assignments and give 110% Give Notre Dame the same level of respect and preparation you gave Russell and Ashland and you should come out on top.

One of the big differences between last year and this year is simply the time spent in the weight room during the off season. Copley started in late March of 2009 giving the Musketeers only a few months of weight lifting before the season started. This year the team had a one week break at the end of the last season and have not stopped lifting. Even though Greenup missed nearly 20 days of school due to inclement weather the weightroom was open and the boys were in attendance.

Who wins this Matchup? Greenup is 1-1 and coming off a huge win in the Backyard Brawl. Notre Dame is 1-0 and under the direction of new Head Coach, Bob Ashley.

We will hold you to that!

Getting ready to head out to the field to tailgate for the the Backyard Brawl. The boys are focused and READY!! In about 5 hours this one will be behind us and hopefully there will be a Big Trophy on display at GC for the first time in 10 years!!!!

Woke up thinking it was Gameday...but we will have to wait until tomorrow for the Musketeers to make believers out of the few naysayers... STUDY your Game Plan, Get some rest tonight, and go out and show them that you mean business!

Since Greenup plays on Saturday this week I am looking forward to seeing this matchup on Friday night. Give it your all Rams and leave it all on the field!

I love the respect Greenup is getting in the poll but preferred it when we were the underdogs!

Greenup only has 8 Freshman (not enough for a Freshman team), 6 sophmores and 7 juniors (5 of the juniors are regular varsity players.) There are only 37 total players, 18 of which are seniors. The numbers are down for the underclassmen quite dramatically. Last year there were not enough freshman for a team either and the JV team played about 2 games before the rest of the season was cancelled. It is unrealistic to expect a 14-15 year old to come out in the heat all summer long, particpate in 3-4 hour practices all season, weightlift throughout the winter and never get a chance to play in a game. Having a winning season may help get the numbers out next year but the experience will not be there.
