Ironton keeps on winning against KY competition.

Russell played fairly well. Struggled in the red zone once again. Got to the 5 and settled for field goals. 15-13 at half.

I am waiting for the Russell excuses...Anyone?

Doc, how does this Ironton team compare to most years?

First downs were 19-15 Russell's favor. Total yardage was 332-264 Ironton Favor. Too many little mistakes by Russell. Must get the ball in the endzone. 4 FGs instead of TDs. Ironton has a couple really nice backs.

Russell played Ironton a lot closer this year. Ironton was supposed to be better this year.

My two cents on Ironton as opposed to years past is the lack of speed on the lines. They are usually, big strong AND quick. This year they are definitely Big and Strong, but don't seem as quick.

I'm not suprised Russell kept it close and seemed to hang in there pretty tough. They have an excellent program, and by the end of the season will no doubt be a team that no one looks forward to playing.

Russell played pretty well again. They aren't a bad team. Ironton is just good as always.

 

Russell's Wing-T attack was fairly effective for most of the night. Their one TD was about a 10 yard run by Logan Dehoff.

 

As spindoc said, the mistakes need to get cleaned up. They've got to cut out the interceptions and get a little more creative with the play calling inside the red zone.

 

Ironton is a hard hitting team. If nothing else, Russell has convinced me the past 2 weeks that they are tough and will not back down.

My bad. I left off in the past 2 weeks. Russell has 4 FGs in the past two weeks thanks to Tanner Locey, but we have to turn those into TDs. On a side note, both FGs Locey hit tonight were mid 20s but both cleared by 20 yards. He could be a nice weapon down the road. And he's only a Junior.
