Ram: I wouldn't say Ashland is horrible. But, they sure have a lot of work to do defending the run. I think their passing offense is good, but the running game will also need work, IMO. I do expect the coaches to make big improvements between week 0 and week 1. We'll just have to wait and see ...

The power running game of Greenup County exposed a possible Ashland weakness. However, I think Ashland fans will have to wait until the Ironton and Johnson Central games to truly find out if Coach Hart has the problem fixed. Raceland doesn't bring a power running game into Putnam Stadium this Friday. Instead, they present a completely different challenge with their spread offense and terrific QB. It would surprise me if they vary from what they do best offensively by trying to grind it out on the ground against Ashland, but I trust Raceland's coaches will do whatever they feel gives their team the best chance to compete with the Tomcats. Offensively, I think they'll put the game in the hands of QB Tyler Farley. They'll just need to be creative with buying him enough time to complete short routes against the speedy Ashland defense. I know he's a good QB, but he'll have to be a great QB to pick apart Ashland.

Can Raceland stop Ashland? Greenup couldn't. Apparently Mason County couldn't. The Ashland passing game is at least equal to Raceland's coupled with perhaps a better running attack to go along with it. The question for me here would be does Raceland lay back keeping the receivers in front of them and allow Ashland to move the ball down the field methodically hoping for the Tomcats to make a mistake? Or does Raceland bring big pressure and risk giving up quick TDs? I thought Greenup might have the personnel to get to Ashland's QB, but apparently they didn't. I don't think Raceland has the personnel to do so. I'm glad I don't have to pick what to do against this Ashland team. When Ashland scores a lot this Friday, I can just log on and say I would have picked the other option. :-)

Raceland is going to have to score and score a lot. Farley's numbers are going to need to be tremendous. I can see them possibly getting the ball to Reed on offense a little and seeing what he can do with it as well, but this is Farley's game. Ashland has handled QBs and offenses like this in the past. Wasn't Waverly a QB driven passing team last season? I look for Ashland to win this one, but I hope Raceland keeps it close and makes it entertaining. Either way, it might be the longest game of the weekend with as much as both these teams pass the ball.

I thought Raceland looked pretty good last week but let's face it, Boyd County doesn't have the horses in the stables that Ashland does. I was in attendance for the GC/Ashland game and yes, the Tomcats gave up yardage on the ground to GC but we do not run the same style of offense. I surely hope that this one doesn't get out of hand too early. Ashland was my pick as the top team in the area and they took everything a very good Greenup team could muster and won by 16. I hope we don't get embarrassed Friday night.

Let the sore be what it's going to be. As long as this bunch leaves everything out on the field. I don't care about the score! If we somehow win this game it will be a great time in RAM history. If we lose by 40/50 oh well. Just play till the last play. No heads hanging. If we play our hearts out win or lose it will be a big building block for this team. "RAM PRIDE"

Nobody has ever expected the RAMS to ever win a game in this series. Thats why the Cat's play us. It's a game every Tomcat fan circles as a win. So as long as we leave the orange and black out on the field. Things will be fine. GO RAMS!

Nice post Coach - except the part I copied. Now that's funny

Maybe once upon a time, in a land far, far away ...

After beating us at home 3-years in a row the Rams have earned respect - AND the right to be taken very, very seriously. Why do you think you're not the season opener any more???

Nice try - I give you quality points for style.

The Tomcats better work hard this week and get ready to be tested.

Now Graybeard you had a little laugh with my post. But I look at this post and feel the same way. You took a very very good team on their home field and beat them by 16pts. Most are taking GC to beat up on Russell. Maybe GC is just that good! And you say your defense needs a lot of work. Some teams just don't match up well. But without getting any better. I bet we are more your teams style of play that you would love to play. Wide open!! You have more strength, speed and experience. What are we to do? We can't out run you. We can't out muscle you. I guess we pray for turnovers. And lots of them! I do know alot of cat fans have gained respect for the RAMS. But most still circle this game as a should win game. It's a pride thing both teams and fans have. The tomcat fans think it's dooms day and the end of the season if we win. And we the little school always feel we can play with the big boys. Some years we can. But I do think we are past the stage of moral victories when we play the Tomcats. It's a pride thing!!:D We have so much respect for the cats that when we are lucky enough to win a game. The towns of Raceland and Worthington bring out the fire trucks and police cars and escort the buses to the school. Now thats respect...

This is a rare moment for me when I am really not judging victory for my Rams by the outcome on the scoreboard. This is to borrow from Rocky I when Rocky goes the night before the fight to view the ring and when he returns to his apartment he tells Adrian........(paraphrased)"I just want to go the distance. No one has ever gone the distance with Creed and if I can just still be standing on the final bell rings, then I'll know that I'm not a bum. I'll have won." If our boys will just play for 48 minutes with heart and no excuses and play to their potential........no matter the score, our 1A Rams will have won. It will bode well for our 1A schedule and our playoff future.
