How do Breathitt and Somerset compare to each other based on how they played Estill? Sounds like the field conditions Friday were the same as they were when Estill played Somerset.

Channing has 229yds rushing, 33yds receiving, and 170 return yards through two games. That's 432 all purpose yards so far. He had 350 all purpose yards in game one. He only had 82 all purpose yards against Sheldon Clark.

I agree and will say that very few teams are conditioned better than a Mike Holcomb coached team.

What part of Letcher's offense gave Breathitt the most problems (running or passing)?

Breathitt scrimmages Letcher Central either the 14th or 15th. They only have one scrimmage this year. The scrimmage is at Letcher.

Louisville has said they will give him the opportunity to play RB, I'm guessing maybe fullback. He does have more speed that one would think when looking at him. Others have said possibly LB. I believe rivals has him listed as an athlete.

Rivals.com is reporting that the University of Louisville has now offered a scholarship to Channing Fugate. They join Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Stanford, Troy, and Western Kentucky as schools that have officially offered Mr. Fugate a scholarship. Congrats Channing. Hopefully UK will offer a scholarship soon.

Channing also played and had some yards as a Freshman. I don't know how many yards, but I believe it was between 500 and 700 yards.

He did not wear a tear away jersey. If he had, it would have "torn away." The game jersey was simply too small, so he wore his practice jersey. He did not cheat. The kid is legit. I think his numbers speak for themselves. He had an off game (that had a lot to do with the defense) and still had 133yds and a td against a defense that was loaded with division talent.

WYMT is airing the 1A, 3A, and 4A games on Sunday afternoon. I'm not sure of the start times though.

This matchup mirrors that of the Fort Knox-Breathitt Co. matchup in the '96 state championship game. Breathitt was at a size disadvantadge as well. They were smaller up front and slower at the skilled positions.

Well, so many people keep saying Channing is too slow. That he's only a power runner. Yet he usually breaks a few big gains running the edges after pounding it between the tackles. He's just got football speed and a lot of heart. Watched him close 30 yards after realizing that an Estill Co. WR had gotten behind the defense. He not only disrupted the pass, but nearly made the interception. He did that later on that game (not as far) and hit the would be receiver and knocked the ball loose on a sure TD. Watching him "allow" the first defender to make contact then cut, spin, wiggle, or shift then accelerate into the secondary is a thing of beauty. Then he'll deliver a massive stiff arm or pick out a defender and lower his shoulder when it looks like his run is winding down. To think that he's only a junior is mind boggling! Yet sometimes it seems that the larger metropolitan areas tend to chalk his success up to being in EKY. But the Belfry win AT Belfry, while not the big offensive contest everyone was expecting, raised some eyebrows. The cats have some speed players as well. Maybe not as many, but Fletcher, Pritchard, Epperson, Allen, the Huff brothers, etc.. Names "media" types don't see in the frenzy of seeing Fugate put up monster numbers week after week. Yes, I'm a cat fan, but stranger things have happened. So let's enjoy the buildup and hope for a fantastic finish.

It'd take a complete, flawless game. Breathitt could do it, but they'd have to get that defense off the field. Maybe Holcomb will finally realize that with Channing being the horse that "No Huddle" is NOT the best design for his offense to compete with the Yellow Jackets. But who knows? Ali wasn't supposed to beat Liston or Foreman. The Giants had no chance to beat the Patriots. Douglas KO's Tyson, the 1990 Reds sweep the A's and so on. That's why they play the game, right? Should be a most interesting game. Glad to see the Cats get some recognition. This was a tremendous gutty effort. Wasn't pretty, but got the job done. Go CATS!!!

I am going to give Breathitt the edge since it is at Breathitt. The difference between Breathitt this game and Breathitt the first game against Estill is more Fugate this time around. Haddix ran the ball a lot against Estill in the first game. When Breathitt started going to Fugate every play, on the last drive of the game, Estill had no answer. Also Pritchard wasn't getting very many carries in that first game. Finally, in the first game Fletcher had a problem catching the ball. I don't think he will have that problem this time around. Defensively in the first game, Breathitt did slow Estill's running game holding them over 100 yards below their game average. Breathitt has to play better up front than they have been playing. If they do Breathitt will win. If they don't play better up front it could be a long night for the bobcats. Breathitt needs to play with a lead to win this game. That could force Estill out of their comfort zone, thus changing the game in Breathitt's favor.
