What does everyone think about this week 1 matchup. From everything I have read Mercer seems to have some question marks heading into the season opener. I see Breathitt winning this one by 4 to 5 touchdowns.

I also see that this game is being playes on a saturday night in Campbelsville. What fiels is this at and is it some kind of bowl game?

I can see Breathitt winning, but 4 to 5 touchdowns is really pushing it. The Mercer squad is not that bad of a team, and will compete and could very easily win this game.

Mercer Co. is a young team with a new Coach. I dont look for a blow out but, Mercer could start the year 0-4.

It's hard to predict the first game of the season...Breathitt County started slow last year, but got much better as the season progressed. With the talent and experience they return for this season, that shouldn't happen in 2009.

 

Mercery County, from what I've read, is a team with talent, but also inexperience, question marks, a new coaching staff that got a late start. That doesn't sound like a good situation to hit the ground running.

 

My guess is that Mercer County's talent will offer some early resistance, but as the game wears on the advantage Breathitt County has with experience and continuity, along with their own stockpile of talent, will be too much.

 

I'll pass on picking a score for the first game of the season.

Breathitt County 's players are in shape, though. Two platooning will not be a factor in this game. Breathitt's defense might start slow but they are strong up front. I can't see Fugate getting less than 250 yards Friday night.

I agree and will say that very few teams are conditioned better than a Mike Holcomb coached team.

I am going to go out on a limb and take the Titans. We saw what speed can do in the state tittle, perhaps Mercer has comparable speed. I take Mercer by a TD.
