Just wondering who ended up with the most rushing yards for the year including the playoffs. Top 5

I think the paper said that Channing Fugate from Breathitt had over 3000 for the season. I have not heard of anybody else with that many.

Miles Simpson had to be over 2,800 yards including the playoffs and maybe more.

He went into the game only like 60yards shy of the 3000 mark.

I think he came into the game with around 2,600 but didnt do much in the game. He did place 10th in most rushing td's in a single season with 47 I believe. Please anybody can correct me if I am wrong.

I'm a little biased, but Zack McCarthy of Bullitt East had 1250, entered the backfield around wk 6, but never had more than 10 carries in a game until the final week of the regular season. Would like to have seen what he could have done being the primary ball carrier throughout the season.

Miles Simpson had 2309 yards rushing for the year according to Maxpreps. He averaged 8.13 yards per carry.

Channing Fugate finished the year with 279 carries for 3052 yards (10.9 ypc) and 36 TD. In addition to that, he caught 27 passes for 353 yards (13.1 ypr) and 2 TD.

 

That's 306 touches for 3405 yards (11.1 ypa) for 38 TD.

 

Just wanted to congratulate that young man on a magnificent season, even if it didn't end the way we'd hoped.

 

Fugate was the state's leading rusher and became only the fifth player in KY High School history to break the 3000 yard mark in a single season.

 

Counting last year's totals, he's probably between 5500 and 6000 yards rushing for his career.

Yes, he is a senior. He was a RB through youth league, they felt his tools could be better used at TE, and while I agree he made a good TE, good runblocker, good reciever, he was still in an offense designed to get him the ball only a few times a game. I do thank Coach Preston for giving him a shot, I know for a fact it made his senior year and their playoff run that much sweeter for him personally.

I only saw three state title games, and he was the most impressive back I saw that day.

Quan Weaver had about 2,300

Dalton Cissell of North Bullitt had a down year rushing for his standards with 1,699 yds although, in his defense, he was banged up with a shoulder inujury for a large portion of the year. He ended up with 6,767 rushing yards for his career along with 83 TD's total. He also had over 1,400 yds in returns for his career.

 

I will 2nd the nod for the McCarthy kid at Bullitt East. He could have had a monster year had he been the primary back from day one. Plus he was an outstanding hitter at LBer.
