I posted my vote for Highlands because I think it is brilliant Highlands kept Collinworth out of the Boone game. He obviously wasn't needed. So why in the world would you want to put this kid in harms way a week before the biggest game in his life? You don't! I have no idea if there is a shred of truth to it (the feigned slight injury rumor) but I would not be the least surprised if Collinsworth is perfectly healthy, has been, and the powers that be just want to make sure he stays that way until next Friday's kickoff! Ryle scored immediately to start the 2nd half so it was a 21 point margin that Dixie kept bringing back to 14, but every time they did Ryle countered almost immediately. It was a track meet in the 4th quarter!

Nice to be under-rated and flying under the radar screen a while longer. The soon-to-be championship teams are ignoring this foolish endeavor and look forward to an 'educated' poll a few weeks from now.

Elliot is NOT an EVENTUALLY guy. He is already there. He is a true 5' 10" and looks to weigh about 215. From what I have seen of his sprinting speed he could win the Northern Kentucky big school 100-meter dash championship next Spring if he were to enter. He's faster than Ryle's Gus Murray who won it this past Spring. That would mean he is faster straight away than Austin Collinsworth. I'm sure there will be many non-believers, but it is what it is and you can check these guy's 100 times on Milesplit. Elliot's advantage is not so much his top speed, which is very good, but how quickly he reaches it with the mass he brings to the table. I can tell everyone right now, Travis could play D1 tailback NEXT YEAR if he were a senior right now. He needs to stay close to his current weight and work on his agility and cutting a little, but he is there otherwise. When you consider how much he improved in the last years it is scary! He has the right (hard-nosed) attitude and football smarts. Playing D1 running back is not for the timid or frail, and he is neither. I do feel sorry for those that have to try to tackle him.

IMO Ryle staff prevented a score of 60-70 to zero by showing considerable restraint and professionalism after suffering through a tough loss to NCC the year before. Impossible to tell for sure if Ryle is that good or NCC is that bad until each has a few more games under their belts. One thing is for certain - if Ryle's passing game continues to improve they will be tough to defend.

Ryle's just starting to fire on all cylinders and will be more difficult to defend than they were Week -1 (that's negative 1.) I look for Ryle to score 40+. I don't know if Dixie can score more.

Austin would probably get more touches if he would quit scoring on those long runs. Tell him to run out of bounds i/o cutting back and then they'll have to give it to him again!

If Boone is not tackling well it will be a long night watching Collinsworth run wild. Highlands is good. One of Boone's coaches does not know what he is talking about.

Hemple threw 3 TD passes - Fugate, Mullins and Nichols. Elliot ran over a lot of guys. Defense probably held NCC to 100 yds or less. Ryle took foot off the accelerator in middle of 3rd and played reserves.

CocCath should probably be about 6th, everyone below 5 pushed down a rung in the ladder.

Sounds like SK had their way with Dixie. How much action did Simpson get? Was he much of a factor?

Mike has obviously been at this too long. He has absolutely no idea what is happening after No. 2.

Sadly I have already seen several 4'10" baby-faced 'Freshmen' suited up against 6' 190-pounders. This is not a contest, its a slaughter and WAY to dangerous for the little guys! That's why PeeWee football exists. Parents and coaches - don't push your 12 & 13-yr-olds into a high school program if they are not at least in 9th grade or physically ready to survive, no matter how short of players your program might be. The goal should be to have your kid playing when he's 17, not trying to overcome the nightmares of getting trampled by 'adults' while still a child.

My recollection is one of those teams was quite concerned about the final score of one of those 'scrimmages,' or at least that's what I heard.

A few posters have no logical basis for their comments. here is some facts you can base your top 10 on. HC football alum admits they get 'killed' by CCH in pre-season pseudo-game. Ryle rolls up Dixie in 3 qtrs in a pre-season pseudo-game, soundly defeats CCH, and Highlands wins convincingly over Ryle. SK beats NCC without Miles Simpson. Boone & Conner win as expected. I am sure there is more, but evidently some people think there has already been a 'shake-up' in relative strength of squads. I just don't see it yet.

I must agree with the sound system criticism. At roughly $5/head average and probably 5,000 in attendance per game they should have generated enough gate/concession revenue in the first two games to pay for an upgrade to the sound system to match the quality of the turf and rest of stadium. Let's pay Mr. Borland his due respect and make sure everyone can hear his stadium name announced before the contests, as well as our National Anthem. I for one got caught with my hat on :-( Mr. Demler, do you read these?

Highlands ability to spring AC to the outside along with a couple of 1st half Ryle calculated risks (that failed, but should have been good bets) was the difference in this game. AC was better than expected. Not to take anything away from Miles Simpson, but AC is probably the best open field/avoidance runner in the state. Very few running backs of that size/speed combination can see the field like AC. He went untouched (repeatedly) by 'freezing' the secondary in their tracks and cutting unexpectedly and creatively weaving down the field. He is simply unpredictable, kind of like Lewis McGahee was in college. The Ryle sophomore, Travis Elliott, is probably his equal already but is a different style of runner and has a less versatile offense. If Ryle can keep its composure and find better versatility on 'O' (to keep Elliott fresh, which they started to show in the 2nd half) they should show better next time around with Highlands. As for all the scuffles at the beginning of the game, just part of the game. If you haven't lived it, then no sense in commenting on it. Much worse goes on that no one ever sees.

No doubt Sage Powell can fly. How big is he? Should be a good guy to groom to fill Miles' shoes.

IMO Ryle is playing at a completely different level than a year ago when these two teams met -- which was a closer game than the score indicated. I expect field position and turnovers to determine the outcome. Neither team has shown what they're capable of yet. Should be interesting. Ryle 24 Highlands 23

IMO CovCath looked to be about on par with Dixie. That would be a good match. Ryle played a little sloppy and has plenty to work on, but should be pleased with the potential they have shown the last two Friday nights. For CovCath it could have been much worse if not for the 3 long kickoff returns which put them in scoring position right after Ryle scores and to start the second half. I am surprised none of them were taken all the way. Ryle's long TD drive in the 3rd after CovCath's 2nd TD was the coup de 'etat.
