Again, as stated in an early post, Coach Kues was not asked back because of someone in the building wanting the job. I have not had a chance to speak with either coach personally, but I do know that the Superintendent was very happy with BOTH coaches and the results that they got. If the others in administration are happy with the new coach and the girls on the team are happy with what is going on than all of this seems to be over-kill. To bring my part to an end, I wish all good luck and it helped me make an easy decision on my childs next stop.

I think sometimes people hear things and repeat things and all of a sudden that becomes who you are and in reality there might be a slight grain of truth but unfortunately you have been branded. I have seen this happen on more than one occasion with coaches (actually have seen it happen twice at Brossart) and knowing these guys personally I can attest that these guys have been unfairly labeled. However.......in the coaching circles the more something is repeated the more it becomes fact (even though it is untrue or barely true!!!)....... Here is your statement from April, so I guess you have found new respect for one person and had a change of mind on the other:rolleyes: The AD was the same person then as now??

Again, go stirr the pot. If this were the case than why have so many of the players and parents voiced their support. Again, I only have a child that I needed to make a decision with and this has helped in attending a county school. Everyone will have their opinions, but I do know that both had a recent discussion with administration and this was purely a move to bring in someone within the building. You may want to check your sources before casting stones. As for the same issues, yes you are correct, it was wins and respect from other coaches, officials.... that are similiar. I would think that if their was a problem than why would you start the year with 8 players and end with 10??? No longer a dog in this hunt, but respect for Coach Kues

I guess that is misunderstood your statement. I will say that if this change has been made, I feel this is a very poor way to treat a coach that has well over 400 victories along with a small school state championship, and took the time to re-establish a program that nobody else wanted and was dead. As Coach Kues stated himself, "I did not come here to build my resume, but to do something that I have never done before and that is to build the program from the bottom up". A lot of time, effort and paitence went into rebuilding the program, to one now that is starting to get respect and for someone to come in and want the team after things not going well at another school for various reasons..... again to me all the wrong reasons to make the change. As for hitting the ground running..... you may want to ask the current parents and players about that? Living close to the area I know that only a certain few are happy if this change was made, and none of them are parents or players.

Are you saying this would be the best move for the program and most importantly the kids?? Someone on staff may not always be the best candidate. I guess if this is the answer than time will tell.

WOW what a surprise:idunno: Rumor had it that someone in the school wanted the position last season after the season had started and was making that known. The person that was interested was from a 9th region A school and let go for unknown reasons and while being a varsity coach has no where near the credentials of coach Kues. If the administration gave in due to someone being in the building that may not be as quailified but pushed for the job which I hope this is not the case, than shame on them! A similiar thing was done to Steve Hart a number of years back, so this would not surprise me. One thing is for sure, I was looking forward to my daughter playing for Coach Kues, but now NO WAY is she headed to the Grove. It is very obvious that the interest of the kids is not being placed first:madman:. Brossart would be very lucky to get this man back, but as has been said before by many others, the AD has an opinion that just will not change, so don't look for them to come calling anytime soon. Again I hope this is rumor, but if not good luck coach Kues and you will be missed by the parents and players at Silver Grove.

Good opportunity for Coach Kues and the Lady Trains to make their first appearence in the semis. It has been a very long time that a Silver Grove girls team has made it past the first round of the All A regionals and with them splitting last season and Augusta losing some seniors, look for Coach K to have them ready. The Lady Trains are still young and their best years are yet to come for Coach K and his Lady Trains.

With the end of school quickly approaching it seems time is running out and minds are starting to change to a new Dawn.

Have you given thought that maybe bigger schools did come knocking, but they were just not the right fit?? After being somewhere that the parents got the best of the administration, if I were him I would also be very careful on my next choice. Also, not many people have the opportunity to rebuild a program that was shut down for years. Silver Grove may not be the UK of high school coaching jobs, but there are a lot of good people and GREAT kids there that would not trade coach K for anything:thumb: While I am sure that no coach ever says never, if the right opportunity would come along...... well I guess Coach Kues would have to answer that one, but the parents and players at the Grove seem to be VERY happy to this point!!

Just sounds as if someone is trying to stir the pot. While I am not sure who the person in the building that would be wanting the job, I would say at this point coach Kues seems to be very happy with the progress that he is making at Silver Grove. From 2 wins to 9 wins would look like progress to me:thumb:

According to people close to the Brossart program, Mike Code has been offered the job and.......... DECLINED!!. So, I guess that is one coach off the list. I would think that Brad Carr would be a great catch and a good choice. Also, do not be surprised to see all of the teams in Campbell Co. to be in the 10th by 2011. Just a guess but a strong chance.

Will be a WAR!! I would have to say Mason is the favorite to win the region, due to the fact Scott and Clark will beat each other up in the semis and would be worn down for the finals. As Mustang would say "good draw, good bounce of the ball".......

The biggest play of the game was the 3 by Kitchen late in the game. Also, I had a hard time trying to figure out why Scott did not foul to get to the bonus sooner?? 1:39 to go in the game and Scott needed 2 fouls to get to the bonus and did not foul until there was 0:56 seconds left in the game. Why wait so long? Also, they were only down 4 with 0:35 to go in the game and the coach told them to shoot a 3?? It is a two possession ball game and Peters had 4 fouls, the ball should have gone into Tibbs, than a time-out Scott. That would have put added pressure on Campbell to get the ball up the court and may have created a closer outcome or maybe different result. Not to take anything away from Campbell which played a great game, but some of the coaching moves at the end by Scott had me scratching my head:confused:

I do not have a dog in this fight either, but I think if you were to ask either coach you may get the same response from both. Both coaches are very good people which are very respected in the basketball community and I think if someone were to look deep into both situtations you may find a lack of administrative support. I also know of people that would be in the know, and I can honestly say that the night the annoucement of Coach Eberhard not returning someone in an administrative position was already stating the applicatons had been received for her replacement. If this was said I find that to be very unprofessional to make such a statement while the season has not even concluded and not to be very respectful of their current coach. I honestly feel that Coach Kues should be considered as a candidate. This would not be the first time a school has brought a Coach back. I have talked with many people from Silver Grove and they are very happy with what he has done for not only the school, but what he has done for the girls on and off the court. He seems to be very happy with his current coaching job and who knows he may or may not want to go back, but that is a question he would have to be asked. Looking at Mustangs comments, I feel he very much hit the nail on the head with stating how important of a decision it will be to name the right person to replace Coach E. and by some of the other comments that were made it does seem to point in a direction of possible lack of administration support, but I could have been reading between the lines wrong? No matter the outcome, lets hope the right decision is made on the next coach and the people making that decision look at what is best for the players of the Brossart program.

Former Bishop Brossart and current Silver Grove coach Ray Kues lost his father early Wednesday morning. Please keep Ray Kues and His Family In Your Prayers On The Passing of his father, Ray sent out the following information this morning; Sadly, my father died this morning at approximately 3:00 am in the hospital after a sudden collaspe yesterday afternoon. He had emphazema and was a diabetic as well as having other physical ailments. God was gracious enough to allow his wife, all six children, and many grandchildren to be at his side as he left this world and entered the kingdom of God. He was much more to us than just our dad, he was our hero. Please keep our family in your prayers as we undergo some tough times in the days ahead. It appears as if we will have the mass this Saturday at St. Therese with the burial still to be announced. May God bless you and your family. Ray

Does not sound like a bad plan. Basketball may be the only sport that does not have such a rule. Baseball & Softball has a run limit after 5 innings, football has a running clock rule after a team is up by X amount of points, so it would not be a bad thing to have some type of procedure in place?? If we could always rely on good sportsmanship than this would never be an issue, but has everyone has seen over the course of this season the days of being a good and respectful sport has, just like Elvis, left the building. I think this thread will start some good debating.

I guess the best thing to say is, this game just used to be another game on the schedule for NCC, now it has some major impact to both schools. I do agree with Lucky Charms, act like you have been there before..... a celebration with the coaching staff is great, but to run the floor with the players is a regional final response not a regular season reaction. Good luck to both teams in the upcoming regional tourney's

Great Job coach!! I think you will see a big change in both programs due the the fact that the level of accountability is a primary concearn. It takes time to rebuild a program and Coach Sharp is on his way.

I did talk to some of the people from the Silver Grove game and they stated that their were up 15 players, but some of them could have been from the 7/8th grades? I will say I have to give Ray Kues credit to go ahead a play a varsity schedule with only 9 players and only 1 jr. with the rest being soph's and freshman.
