  1. It is obvious that Corbin is not playing the caliber of ball that they can play but in the other post about "playing flat" some posters believe that is a cop out. I think that this game is proof to the opposite. Sometimes teams just don't bring their A-game and for what ever reason they play "flat"! I hope coach Jewel correct things at half time!
  2. Sorry! I just couldn't resist myself!
  3. Are they playing flat?
  4. I disagree, I have been coaching for 24 years and I know when my team does not have their head in the game. At this level the players are going through a lot and sometimes get over whelmed with everyday life and they find it hard to get focused on the game. Heck, it doesn't take much at times. I have seen teams that were suppose to be 3 or 4 TD team better get beat (the people from that program says they played flat or something to that effect) and then face the same team 2 or 3 weeks later in the playoffs and win by 3 or 4 TD's. Who is the better team. Plain and simple, sometimes teams play to their potential and sometimes they don't. I always use the term A-game, we didn't bring our A-game tonight. When I was asked if we could beat Knox Central this was my response; If we bring our A-game and they don't we will win, if they bring their A-game and we don't they will win and if we both bring our A-game it will be a close one. At the half it was 13-6 and niether team had played very well up to that point. Now, what was the reason, I can only speak for my team. We had several players who didn't have their heads in the game for what ever reason and the weather was rainy and the field was sloppy and that worked against our team because KC was much bigger and a little stronger and the conditions worked against our strengths. The second half KC picked up their game and we didn't therefore they kicked our butt because their game was closer to their A-game in the 2nd half than ours was. Now can you say we played flat, I guess you could but I say we didn't bring our A-game. Now was KC one of the factors in that, of course but if they were the only factor then I would have said we brought our A-game but their A-game was better! Anyway, that is the way I see it on this day October 8th 2009! God Bless and good luck to everyone this Friday (except Madison Southern:D)!
  5. I don't disagree with you, I have never took a flu shot in my life I was just stating why everyone seems to be worried with the H1N1
  6. The problem with H1N1 is there's not a vaccine for it yet or the only one they have is still in the trial stage and that is what makes it a little more dangerous right now!
  7. How many teams have been hit by sickness? We have been lucky and it hasn't hit us other than a player here and there and then they haven't been very sick. However, a friend of mine said he has half of his team with either the flu or some type of bronchial infection and a good number of those start on Fridays. He said he didn't know if he could field a competitive team this Friday. But, that is in Tn. is there anyone struggling with sickness in Ky.?:puke:
  8. You tell'em Les, I'm so mad I can't! :madman: Just kidding!
  9. Well you know the old saying, when you get satisfied the game is over! We are very proud of our players but we want them to work hard and strive to get better everyday because Rome wasn't built over night and either is championship football teams. We want to get to a point where we can compete in our district year in and year out, it won't be easy and that's why we expect so much from our kids. When they start expecting the same from themselves and each other (which we are close to that now) we will build a program that will always be competitive! It's close so watch out!
  10. We are with you on that one!
  11. Thanks papagrit, I agree 100%. Good luck to the Rock this week!
  12. Winning 5 out of 6 yes, this is the first time ever being 5-1. However on two other occasions the Raiders have won 5 games in a season!
  13. Don't have any official stats. Roark had around 150 to 200 yards and 2 Td's most of which came in the 2nd half. Watts threw for 1 TD and ran for 2 all in the 1st half, he didn't play in the 2nd half and didn't play at all on defense. Dustin Goins had 1 TD through the air and 1 on the ground. Over 300 yards (possibly close to 400) total offense. We had 3 or 4 scores called back and 1 of them I can say was a real call. Defensively we played very aggressive for 1 quarter and then the defense seemed to become complacent and non-aggressive which frustrated the coaching staff to no end. But, I will say that Powell earned their TD's 2 in each half! The coaching staff was happy with the win (which coaches should always be happy when they win), they were very satisfied with the performance of the offense(could have scored 70+) but was very disappointed in the overall performance of the defense. We have a lot of work to do before Fridays showdown with Madison Southern so I hope the players are ready to go to work. I hope this gives some insight to the game but please remember the stats are not official just the best I could recall!
  14. Although I do agree with you that stats have nothing to do with who wins or who loses or even how each individual game is played, I don't quite think it is ever that simple! IMO!
  15. 5pt Henderson County 3 Owensboro 3 Knox Central 1 Male 1 North Laurel 1 Meade County 1 Carroll County 1 Russell County 1 Jeffersontown 1 Scott County TB 42
  16. I don't know much about SD but a friend of mine told me they have been very good the past several years. He told me they lost their head coach this year and doesn't know if they will play at the same level as they have been. Bell Co on the other hand has shown they are still running on all cylinders. I was told that when Bell played Alcoa they played with them until they got tired and that being their first game they probably were not in as good of condition as they are now. I will go with Bell Co in this one by 14!
  17. This will come down to who wants it the most in the trenches. Whoever controls the line of scrimmage will edge out a win. My prediction on this game is: Whoever scores the most point will win!:sssh: I can seem to make my mind up on who to vote for. I wish there was a to close to call choice!
  18. Final score. Congradulations Rock on a nice win. It was a great night for a football game and Rock always has a great football atmosphere. On another positive note, I met Papagrit tonight and glad I did. It was a pleasure talking to you papagrit! Good luck next week but I can't root for you the week after!
  19. I don't know, according to your name you have the answer!
  20. I believe I will have some fried pickles before the game!
  21. Not if what is said doesn't make sense and looking ahead to another team doesn't make sense! All I can say is eat some fried pickles and get ready for Powell! :ylsuper:
  22. I am with you. That is how we coach it, 1 hit FB, 1 hits QB and ! hits pitch-man no matter what! I think that ref was wrong!IMO
  23. I can tell you that the most important game for the Raiders is the one that is next on the schedule. We are not in a position to look past each Friday as they come. I can tell you right now the Raiders are 100% focused on Powell county and only Powell County! I am not saying you were saying other wise I just wanted everyone to know that we can't and won't over-look anyone! 'Vaya con Dios'!
  24. I am not sure if you were refering to MS losing streak but it ended last week when MS beat Powell Co
