  3. Since you were there TRENCHMASTER why don't you give us an overview of the game. Who were the best offensive and defensive players and so fourth! I would really like to know how this game played out!
  4. I didn't expect this one to be such a low scoring game. I hope someone gives us a summary of what happened!
  5. No apologies necessary as I did not take offense. This is a discussion board which means you say something and that triggers a response from me and my response triggers another from you. Your post was not disrespectful one bit I just didn't find it accurate so I gave my opinion on the subject. The thing about high school football is every team looses 6, 7, 8 or 12 seniors every year that they have to replace it is those teams that work the hardest to develope their young players in the off season who over come their loss the best. McCreary has and have always had as good of athletes as anybody in the state the key is getting them to play and then coaching them up so they can play at the same level as everyone else. I truely believe this years Raiders have been coached very well by the previous coaching staff as well as the current coaching staff so there is no reason why they shoudn't win football games and be in a position to when most of the games they play IF they should not win and since there is no reason for them not to win games anything else said about it is an excuse and has no business being said. It is my belief that excuses lead to negativity and negative thought breed negative results and the Raiders have worked very hard at getting rid of that stigma so I hope it doesn't ever show it's ugly head again. Again no offense taken I have enjoyed your posts and kindred conversation. Good luck Raiders and Go Get'em Guys!
  6. I have to disagree with the bolded statement. It is true that last years team had probably the single most talented athlete the program has ever had but in the last 23 years I have seen McCreary teams with more overall talent. Last years group worked their butts off all year long they put their time in the weightroom and in plometrics and they did this when there was and wasn't school and they did plyometrics outside when it was snowing and below freezing they were very dedicated to getting bigger, faster and stronger. It was the best off season I've seen in 23 years and that made the difference. In high school football there is no such thing as just showing up and winning you have to out work the other teams and last years group did just that and it was the difference in a 1-9 season w/no playoff game and a 7-4 season w/a playoff game. As far as this years team it is not just optimisim, these guys know how to win, the soph and juniors had a very successfull jv season last year beating teams like Scott Co Tn, Wayne Co and Somerset it was the first Jv winning season in 15 years or so and we know the 6 to 8 players who started varsity last year know how to win and I personally know the coaching staff and they are more than capable of preparing this team to win football games so no I am not being optimistic I am being confident in a great bunch of kids, a great coaching staff and a up and coming great high school football program. This coaching staff was hired early and has ran a very good off season program as well to keep things going in the right direction so the last thing this program needs is people making excuses for them (I know that's not what you are trying to do brother but other people will and excuses will only make the program go backwards) these guys are capable of getting the job done and I am confident that they will do just that. As far as winning and losing a I agree with you it is just one part of H.S. football the rest is about building character and learning to be part of something that is bigger than oneself but don't forget that generally coaches are the only ones that think of such things when a season is not going very good. Well, all I can say is I love this program and the kids in it and I am friends with the coaching staff and I give all of them my total support and I am confident in their ability to have great character, be a part of something bigger than themselves and to win football games and to win with respect and when the need arises (hopefully far and few in between) lose with respect. I am behind you guy 100% now "Go Get'm Guys!"
  7. It looks like it will be a wet and sloppy one on Thur. I am also interested in seeing the adjustments made by the Raiders coaching staff and to see the improvements since the Casey game. This Raiders team has the potential to be very very good and I will be supporting them all season. Go get'em boys!
  8. KHSAA says the Pioneer Bowl is at Knox Central and this thread says it's at Lynn Camp so where is it played at? Thanks in advance!
  9. LoL, We are not in school yet papagrit! The scrimmage last night went pretty good, the Raiders had a rough start with a few fumbles on offense and a little confusion on defense but that was to be expected since there is a new coaching staff and they are running a new offense and defense. After the first quarter was over and they settled down the Raiders looked very good they had a couple really good drives showing they still have very good athletes running the ball and big strong guys on the line opening the holes. The defense was very aggressive and had very few missed tackles, sophmore Tyson Williams looked very impressive at linebacker and should be a huge impact player for the raiders. Storm Stephens was at QB and his experience showed as he ran the offense like a pro. Overall the Raiders looked very well coached and their conditioning level was pretty good for this time of the season, I think the Raiders will have a very good season so keep up the good work boys. Go Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. 8/13/10 the McCreary Central Raider head on over to Casey Co. for a pre-season scrimmage which starts at 7:00. Now I know this is just a scrimmage but it is important for all you Raider fans to get over there and support your Raider football team. I know Coach Smith and all the assistant coaches have these boys ready for battle so make the trip to Casey Co and support our boys. Go Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I would appreciate it if someone would figure out what all 6 classes would look like under the new system. I guess I could do the math but I am lazy! Thank you in advance. Also, I am taking it that this is 100% how they voted and will definately implimented.
  18. Just a few more weeks before the Raiders step on the gridiron for their first scrimmage. I have talked with some of the boys and they are fired up. They told me that they have been working hard and everyone is positive about the season. This is my favorite time of the year and I can't wait to see my Raiders go to war. Pack your lunch and go to work boys it's your time to shine! Go Raiders!
  19. Coach Rains is a good friend and is always willing to lend a helping hand and has always been a great role model for the kids he coaches. Knowing this fine man as I do I know he will land on his feet but more than that he will never hold ill feelings for those who have put him down. As always Coach Rains I wish you all the luck in the world and I will keep you in my prayers!
  20. Hey, where are all those McCreary County posters at. I am very surprised that you guys aren't on here supporting these young men's efforts and the efforts of the coaching staff. Believe me when I say that many of them get on here and read what is said about them and when they get a bounch of support from their fans they really appreciate it. So, lets here from all of you RAIDERS fans.................................Go Raider!
  21. I think with the quality of kids returning for the Raiders in 2010 along with a quality coaching staff the Raiders has a great chance to win 5-7 games and return to the playoffs for the 4th year in a row. I also agree that by doing just that the Raiders football program will turn the corner and continue to get better. This is going to be a program to watch out for over the next few years. Go Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. McCreary will have a very good base of players coming back from last year. They were 7-4 last year and the JV only lost to two teams oneida Tn and Pulaski Co. They have a very good bunch of young talent to go along with some seasoned veterans and should have a very good offensive line to help some talented runningbacks gain yards. They have a new head coach with half of the old staff still in place and they seem to have pick-up where the old head coach left off. They have been in the weight-room and have been doing plyometrics along with having a productive spring. I have also heard they are sending their line to "Hawg heaven" again this year. The kids seem fired up and ready to go and I think they will be ready when the first whistle blows! I predict that McCreary will have a very good year with a lot of real good talented skill player returning, a very strong O-line, a defense that should be able to give most offenses fits (probably the strength of the Raider team this year) and a very good coaching staff. The head coach Derick Smith is young and motivated and a very good coach, Justin Bozeman is one of the best if not the best defensive minds in the area and Matt Stiltner (a transplant from Tn) is an excellent coach who I have enjoyed coaching with the past 3 seasons. All of these things are positives that couldn't be said about the Raiders 4 or 5 years ago. I think this adds up to continued success for the Raider football program. I know a lot of people will probably harp on the fact that Watts and Roark are graduating but every program graduates great players on a yearly basis and there is no doubt that every program misses their senior playmakers from the past year. But, every team keeps working hard in the off season (as the Raiders have been doing) and low-and-behold new playmakers emerge when the new season begins and it will be no different for the Raiders as I have mentioned they have a lot of talented skill players. I for one am looking forward to the season and watching my Raiders win on the gridiron. Go Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. I heard they are looking for a new head coach in Leslie County. Can anyone shed some light on what happened over there?
  24. It's always tradgic when one so young is lost. My prayers to the Pickerell family and all those at Southwesterm. May God comfort you during this time.
