Everyone knows why your son quit and it had nothing to do with who played JV! The Raiders will have around 20 freshmen and we plan on playing 4 or 5 freshmen games. Go Get'em Raiders!

There were 12 Raiders that survived the tough "Hawg Heaven" camp that was ran by Joe Prince at Campbellsville University on the 12th, 13th and 14th. There were 9 linemen(Patrick Parriman, James Ball, Ricky Triplett, Codey Smith, Cody Perry, Vince Staten, Jeremy Jones, Zack Ridner and Richard Parriman) and 2 skilled players (Zack Roark and Dylan Ross) that attended the camp that had 8 practices in 3 days. The Raiders did very well at the camp and a couple of players earned the attention of the camp coaches and Zack Roark was a stand out in the skills camp! Patick Parriman was one of two finalist in the defensive lineman competetion as he demonstrated strength and quickness as he went against the best offensive lineman at the camp. Codey Smith in his 2nd year of football also looked impressive as he was grouped with the camps best Offensive lineman. Even though Codey is a tight-end he is considered a lineman because he will block more than run pass routes and after the coaches saw his blocking ability improve as the camp went along we have discussed moving him to tackle. All-in-all we were impressed with the effort of our 12 Raiders and coming out of camp believe that their performance is an indication that we could have a very good season. I would like to thank Coach Prince and all the other coaches for a well ran camp it was a great 3 days of football! Go Get'em Raiders!

The Rock boys looked very good and it was a great camp. Coach Prince and the rest of the coaches go all out to make sure the players work hard and learn a lot. Our boys were tired by the last practice but all they could talk about was what a great camp it was! Good luck to Rock in 09!

I definately agree that Bell Co. reloads and does it better year in and year out than most in the state. I would also agree that if Bell gets beat in the playoffs the team that beats them will be favored to win the title. We kind of have an inside saying that goes like this "all we have to do to win a state championship is be good enough to win our district". No offense to Boyle Co or Lex. Cath. because we know there would be more obstacles with programs like yours. We just know that in order for anyone in our district to have any kind of chance they have to get their program to Bell's level of play, which is a tough thing to do! I agree with you Ram, one of my favorite sayings is "I am going to make you do up-downs until I get tired". I had an old time coach tell me along time ago "if you baby your players you will have a football team full of babies" and I say "hear, hear!"

It's close enough that I can already smell football in the air and every time I think about it I get goose bumps!

I can tell you that I didn't make the above statement about administration and I take offense to someone saying that I don't support them. I may disagree with something and the way they are done but I have always discussed my disagreements with them personally and do not talk about my disagreements in public. Myself and our superintendent are friends and I have always supported him. At one time (many years ago) I considered myself and our AD good friends and even though we may not be as friendly now I have never tried to do things to undermind him in any way and I think he would even tell you that I have always talked to him directly if we had any problems. I have worked hard for the kids of this county I attend boys and girls Basketball games, softball and baseball games, soccer matches and any other activities that I get a chance to. If a coach from another sport has asked for my help I do my best to help them. As CK said above our football facilities are lacking to say the least and I don't think any football coach likes the fact that the grass on our field is dead and our pressbox looks like an outhouse but I can tell you that I have seen worse days for football in this county and I have always tried to get things done in a positive way. So, don't get on here and say that I (as a football coach) have not and do not try to support the other coaches and our administration because that is very far from the truth. I guess it just gets under my skin a bit when people that don't know everything (or anything for that matter) about a situation or has a bias gets on here and talks about something they don't have a clue about. I think everyone from our county knows who I am and I am willing to sit down and talk (rationally) with anyone who want to discuss the situation with athletics in our schools. If we had, lets say, 100 people that had a vested interest in our athletics who was willing to sit down and talk about what was best for the kids (who by the way are the ones giving up their time for all our sports and are the reason why coaches should be coaching) and talk about the situations rationally and for the best interest of our kids then I would say we could get our entire athletic program heading in the right direction. I have been coaching in McCreary Co. for 20 years and this has never happened in that time period and the result is we (coaches) still don't work together like we should! My invitation is always open for anyone that wants to have a positive discussion about our athletics. To say again please don't get on here and put me in a group and then say that group is doing something that I have not done as an individual and as I said earlier I have always supported our administration even when I may not agree with them!

After reading all the posts I have to say that the Raiders are definately the #1 pre-season team. I know the Raiders players and they want to go to Rupp and they will work together to get there and as everyone seen at this years regional tournament they have the support they need as well. To clear up any rumors, I talk with Watts almost daily and he will definately be playing B-ball next year as will all of this years Raiders except the one senior that we lost to graduation. The B-ball team has been working hard this summer they are in camp at Gerogetown right now and have a busy week of games when they get back. Best of luck to the Raiders!

Every single kid who came to practice got to play. If they did not play on Friday night they got to play on Mondays. Every kid got to play. We dressed 50 we played 50. As an earlier post said this year we will also play a 6 game freshmen schedule. If you would like to comeover to the athletic complex and look at the schedule in person come on over, we are there every morning by 7:00am. Just say "I am the Banker and I am here to look at the schedule" and I will be glad to show you all 3 schedules. Go Raiders!

Somebody please tell me where we live because I am confused. The weatherman says that I live in south/easternKY. I may be wrong but that puts McCreary County in a part of eastern KY at least that's the way it looks to me. No matter where you want to label us on the map we will have as good of QB and TB combo there is and we all hope they have a stellar year. Good luck to everyone in 2009 I can't wait to get started. Someone needs to start a thread with the count down thing again!

I think Watts will play D-1 and Roark will have a shot as well. We have a very good group of young men and more coming up each year. To those of you that give supporting thoughts and gestures I truely thank you! It means a lot to the people that work hard (players coaches ect..) to hear people say positive things about their efforts. Thank you!

I say that because there were 10 of McCreary players that made the all district team do I need to write it in crayon. I thought you were a raider fan???????????? You would think that you would be happy that they made the team instead of acting like you think they don't deserve it. Remember, the other coaches in the district voted for those players, our coaching staff has 0 votes for our players so those coaches were impressed enough with the talent level and performance of those 10 players to give them enough votes to make the all district team. As for the other teams, I don't know how many players they had to make the all district team because my concern is our playes and as a fan it should be your concern. I get so tired of the "nay sayers" and it is those same people who think they know everything and know absolutly nothing. I am very proud of our kids accomplishments and how hard they have and are working during this off season. I hope that they get rewarded for their hard work but know matter what happens this season I will be the proudest coach in the state because they have and I am sure will continue to work like champions and that is all a coach can ask of his players! I hope we have better supporters out there than you are B.O.T.S.:irked:

McCreary will play a freshmen schedule for the first time that I can remember. This just shows how far the program has come in the last several years. The youth teams are always competitive and the middle school team has been playing very well for years and the high school has made the playoffs the last two years and should continue to improve.

Dear Lord I pray that you comfort this family in their time of grief. We are not suppose to out live our children and when we do it breaks our heart forever so please Dear Lord touch this family with your loving hand and guide them through this tradgic time and this I pray in Jesus Christs Holy Name, Amen!

I agree, Moses is an excellent QB. He has a lot of talent and makes very good decisions with the ball. WB has done an excellent job over the last several years of developing QB's and receivers. They have had a top QB with the last 3 QB's that played there (including their present QB). As I said earlier, I wish WB all the luck in 2009!

Aaron Watts from McCreary will definately be one of the top QB's in 2009!

Every 6 weeks ends a cycle of strngth training and plyometrics in Raider Land and then the kids test to see if they have improved. Yesterday they ran the 40 and everyone had improved there were several keds who ran 4.7's and 4.8's and most of the uperclass lineman were in the low 5's. The fastest time of the day was by a freshmen who will be a sophmore, his time was a 4.6. They also test in a couple more areas such as the shuttle. Today the Raiders will be maxing in the weight room and I look for marked improvement there as well. These kids have been very dedicated and have been working hard. I truely believe the payoff will be the best football season in Raider history.

Watts had almost 900 yards and only played 5 and a half games. he is a great athlete and is complimented very well by Zack Roark. It should be a fun year but we have the toughes schedule Mccreary has ever had and play in the toughest district in 4-A. Bell, Knox and Rock were all in the top 10 at one time or another last year and most of the time they were in the top 10 at the same time. But, I am definately looking forward to August!

I will also say that Zack Roark from Mccreary Central is a top 5 back for 2009. He is strong, quick and very hard to tackle and behind a very much improved "O" line he will be even more dangerous.

Watts and Roark from McCreary Central has to be as good of one-two punch as there is in the state. Both are great athletes and both are working their butts off to get ready for the 2009 season. Watts 6'2" 200lbs and Roark 6'1" 210lbs both are strong and getting stronger daily and both are very quick.

I held all 3 of my kids back 2 of them were girls and one with no sports aspirations after H.S. The maturity level in elemetary or middle school may not be the issue but when my kids go off to college and are basically on their own i want them to be as mature as possible. I was a very mature high school student who was not near mature enough to go off to college at the age of 18. I lasted one semester and then decided to serve my country in the U.S. marine Corps (which was the smartest thing I have ever done). my point is, sending kids to college at the age of 17 is rediculous IMO we have a kid that just turned 16 and is a junior. No way will he be ready for college and I think letting a kid go to college that early is an injustice to the kid. I also agree that it is no ones business but each individual parents but I know everyone (including myself has an opinion). But you are wrong about one thing, a school can not stop a parent from retaining their child. If a parent wants their child to repeat a grade the school is obliged to comply. They can try everything to discourage the parent but in the end it is the parents decision!
