That was a great movie! it had George Clooney in it! I think he also did a movie dealing with football so I guess it is ok to mention on this forum!

Rockcastle/Madison Southern Predictions
I will give Rock the edge in this one because they will dominate the line of scrimmage opn both sides of the ball. While MS hasn't shown that they are a good team they have shown they are dangerously fast and sometimes that alone can cause teams trouble. Rock 35 Madison 12

Question for officials:
you can not throw the ball away in high school football. The QB must appear to be throwing to a receiver, in other words a receiver must be in the area that the ball has been thrown. I know because I was one of those idiots who jumped all over a ref because our QB was outside of the tackles and threw the ball past the line of scrimmage. To the credit of the official I was jumping all over, he calmly said "coach this is high school not college and you can not intentionally get rid of the ball I don't care where your QB is!" I looked at him with a cold hard stare and said "oh, ok" and then ducked behind all of our players and didn't say anything the rest of the game! As a coach I can say that I know all of the rules right up to the point that an official corrects me!

Rockcastle/Madison Southern Predictions
Haven't seen this one yet so I thought I would start it! Lets here everyone's opinio on this game. I am interested in the matchup, MS has a lot of speed where Rock has some speed and size to boot. I will hold of making any prediction for now!

McCreary Central @ Powell County
Powell seems to be a solid team. Their offense is a power run type offense as they utilize the Bone. McCreary needs to focus all of their energy on this game and work harder this week in practice than they have all year. I think our team will shake off last week and handle their business this week. I think Powell will be a quality opponent and McCreary will have to play hard to get the W.

I just wanted to say thanks to both of you! I think most everyone in the BGP family is on here to support their teams and high school athletics as a whole in a positive way and I am proud to be a member of such a fine group of people!:thumb:

If you honestly feel this way then why have such a negative post earlier. If you feel the need to answer this question via PM then please do so because I am confused about your two posts that are directly opposite of each other, one being very negative and the other very positive and supportive. It just makes me curious to where you are coming from!

My sons team (which is 5th & 6th grade) plays in a league in Whitley county and has only lost to Whitley Central Elem. and they have also beaten Wayne Co Red team. They still have 2 more league games and I know they still have to play Wayne Co. Black team. The JV has beaten Wayne County, Scott Co Tn, and Somerset and their only loss is to Oneida Tn. by 2pts. I am not sure who is left on the schedule but I know we have a game with South Western and Pulaski and I think maybe a re-match with Oneida.

Well, this doesn't really deserve an answer but I will give one anyway. Our 1st 4 games are not the toughest 4 games but they are definately not soft. Pinveille just beat a solid Paintsville team and they are 3-2, Leslie is still young but they are 2-3, Edmosnson is 4-2 and was in their 3-A regional final last year (week 3 of the playoffs) and Wayne is 0-5 but have played a very strong schedule. The teams we have beaten this year are 9-12. Like I said not super tough but not soft, somewhere in between. We are very proud of our accomplishments and if the off-season strength and conditioning program continues and the dedication of the kids continue then the program will continue to grow and get better and eventually some of those teams will be on the schedule I am sure. You have to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. I am glad that MOST of the people in our county are supporting are kids and program with positive remaks and gesture. I also appreciate the supportive remarks from people from around our district and from around the state it is people like you that make BGP a special place.

I never said it wasn't a legitimate point and I better than anyone know the history of our program. To date there has been two seasons where McCreary has been 5-5 and one of them was when Watts and Roark were freshmen but at the time Mccreary played a non-district schedule. So I can give just as valid of an argument that for the most part we have been just as competitive in the past during certain years. We have always had good athletes which has allowed us to have good teams from time to time. The difference with this year is the dedication to the off-season stength and conditioning program from 80% of our players. If this dedication becomes the norm our program will continue to get better. Our jv team is also 3-1 this year and the one loss was by 2 points. If our players continue to get bigger and faster in the off season they will continue to be competitive for years to come. IMHO! By the way my son is 11 years old 5' 2 and 146 lbs he is in the 5th grade and his team is now 5-1. He has already promised me that when he is a senior his team will beat Bell, Rock, Knox and Madison So on their way to winning the state championship.

McCreary Has some very good young athletes and IMO will continue to be successful as long as the players commit to the off-season program. I am not saying that they will not be a great loss but it won't be a program ending loss. We have 12 seniors I think but our JV has been playing very well and this is the 1st time ever we have been able to play freshmen games. We are getting more administrative support than ever with our new Principal. She has worked very hard to make sure we have everything we need and has been to every game. She arranged for a pep bus and a bus for our band to go to the Knox game. This was the 1st time in history the football team got a pep bus. So, a great loss, yeah, a program ending loss, not even close. There is a lot of people that said we couldn't beat Edmonson or Wayne Co and they said no way we could go 4-0 to start the season but we did. We didn't play very well Friday and like I said that had a lot to do with the great line play of Knox but I know the Raiders football players and this loss will just make them work harder. Don't be surprised Dreemland if you see the same kind of success in the future from the Raiders!

Knox Central/Bell County Predictions
I have to go with Bell in this one but I do think Knox will put up a monsterous fight. They are very good in the trenches which I am sure Bell is also. This may come down to which set of trench warriors want it more and is in better condition. I wish both programs luck and don't see it being more than a 14 point spread.

There are a lot of good young athletes in McCreary Co. Both Jr Raider teams (3rd/4th and 5th/6th) are 5-1 the middle school is like 2-3(4), the Freshmen are 0-2 but have played well and the JV is 3-1. However, I would rather not comment on the future of the program until this season is over.

Knox Central 34 McCreary Central 6
Well, I thought this thread would have already been started but it hasn't. So, I decided to start it myself. There is several people that doubted we could play with Knox and tonight they were right. I will make no excuses Knox dominated the trenches and that is where the game was won. The score was 13-6 at the half and even though I thought we played poorly in the first half we were in the game. Don't get me wrong, it was Knox's offensive and defensive line that had a lot to do with why we played poorly. I still thought we would come out and play a very good second half and put ourselves in a position to win the game. I was wrong again, Knox's line played very physical and it wore on our guys and then I think they started doubting themselves mentally and then it was all over. My hats off to Knox Central for a well deserved victory I have always said I have a great deal of respect for Coach Mills, his staff and their program. They were very hospitiple and the atmosphere was great. I wish them luck the rest of the season and we will now see what we are made of. Our players have to realize that good teams get beat by good teams and you just have to keep on working hard and get ready to play the next game. My dad always told me it isn't how many times you get knocked down it is how many time you get back up that counts. :isurrender:

Knox Central/McCreary Central Predictions
Commander I wish it was Friday 7:30 pm and the ball was in the air. Big game weeks like this seem to drag along. All of us over here in Mccreary County have a lot of respect for Coach Mills and the Knox program and we know it will be a war come Friday and that is the type of games all coaches, players and fans like, but waiting until game time is a killer. I am sure the rivalry game you all have this week makes the week drag out forever as well. Good luck this Friday!
