Nice synopsis. From appearances, there were multiple "recruiting" issues here, but only one person thrown under the bus? The summer ball team issue isn't new... been around for years. There are arguments to be made for both sides of this issue. However, a player leaves his HS team to go play for another travel team and then transfers to that coach's HS program. That's not a problem?

Wow. Being an outsider looking in, there appear to be more issues with this case than are apparently being addressed. Many people have a lot of respect for the HC coach. My concern has often been and remains that coaches end up taking the fall in situations that are much bigger than something they say or do. They work for pennies, take from their family time, and receive very little in return. Seems like a mighty big decision to fire a long time coach for what is listed in article at least.

Not to mention, Young's arm was a very important contribution in Bellevue's success last year and will be this year.

While Bellevue will most likely not have the wins they would have had with Hunter, one ball player doesn't make a TEAM. The team remains regardless of their W-L record. I hope all those boys that remain remember this. I think all would wish Hunter well, but I think the winners in this situation are the boys that remain with their friends and battle for wins on the field. That's what being a team is all about.

Making any college team as a walk on is a great accomplishment! Congrats to this young man and may he make the most out of his opportunity.

I believe that Old Guy nor anyone should worry about this situation. While there are schools that end up having players from out of district, Sanders crosses his t's and dots his i's. With a coach as ethical and as experienced as he, there will be nothing inappropriate with any player at Bellevue. He wouldn't dare risk the season for his players or the progam.

About 20-30 minutes south of Campbellsville, 30 minutes from Bowling Green, a couple of hours from Lexington.

Bellevue's SOS has improved greatly over the last couple of years and I suspect that will continue. With the interest Jones has garnered, the team as well as teams that play them should get more looks from scouts & coaches which in turn benefits everyone. Bellevue lost Combs at second who was a good defensive player and had a good avg I believe. Not sure who will replace him, but overall, Bellevue returns a good lineup and pitching staff.

Congrats to the Lions on some great wins! "Attendance" at a game would mean just that IMO. I think everyone can rest assured that Myerhoff knows the rules and doesn't jeopardize anything for pete's sake.

I do think Clary is a hard working coach. He always has been very dedicated to the sport. However, I think much too much is being made about the fact of Lex Cath winning state. Many people picked them to win. They were hardly left void of any talent when the previous coach left. They have been successful in the last few years and did had some typical transitional adjustments to make over the season, but it's no great surprise they won state. I have been very impressed with how Clary has handled the media with this being his first year as head coach. I think he's done a very good job there. Time will tell if he's the best coach in the state though - not one year.

I say Trinity and simply because they're the stronger team overall. Should be a good game though.

I didn't see this game, but I did witness Bourbon County in another game this spring where I felt players, fans, and coaching staff did not show the greatest of sportsmanship. It was not a pleasant atmosphere for a ball game. One of the reasons I was pulling for Scott County although I had no dog in this fight. Interesting the kind of impression this sort of stuff can leave with folks.

Bryan Station isn't typically one to upset. It's been years since they fielded a competitive team. I'm thrilled for them and what Brooks appears to be doing for the program!! Good luck Defenders!!

If I am remembering correctly off the top of my head, in the last five years, you've had three state champs and one runner up from the 11th region. That's pretty good!

Well, Young has thrown very well for the Tigers this year and Bellevue's bats have been working. Everyone keeps their heads and plays good D, it should be Bellevue's game.

I haven't had to buy a pair of cleats for several years, but to the best of my recollection, they are between $100-$150 bucks? For many players, this amount isn't something that is in the family budget - especially on short notice. I suspect they'll have no option but to wear tennis shoes. Not the way things should happen.

Isn't Lexington Catholic's field turf? HS players have always worn their regular metal spikes on it. I think it's idiotic to expect players to buy new cleats. Tennis shoes are not appropriate on turf and if it's damp at all, that will contribute to injuries.

That's awesome for Thompson! He's pitched very well as have most of the staff this season. Can be tough to come in though and be composed when a game isn't going well, so good for him!
