We were contemplating just taking kids trick or treating on the way to the game. Then have warmer clothes to change into at game. We walk to the games anyway, may as well get some candy on the way. I just feel bad for the kids who don't get candy from my house this year. I finally live on a street where I would have gotten some trick or treaters. I lived on Grand the last 3 years and only got 1 trick or treater the entire 3 years being there! Oh well, sorry kids of Fort Thomas, I guess you'll just have to wait till next year. Go to the game, maybe you'll find some candy there. PS, I can't wait to see football again. That week off almost killed me!

Several people care about Mueller. I am not sure what your intentions are but you seem to love to get onto any thread that mentions HHS and bash them. I hope that you can resolve whatever issues you have with this school. It could become a debilitating phobia. Good Luck.

If you would have asked me a few weeks ago, I would have quickly voted for Ryle. After watching Boone have their way with the Raiders, Dixie's been picking up steam, and I'm a big believer in momentum: I will have to go with Spritz and the Red Colonels. I really do think that they can pull this one out and salvage their season. I just hope that it's not too good when it may be time for them to come to Fort Thomas in the post season. I am taking the Colonels in this one 28-21.

Dale Mueller-Fort Thomas Highlands. I would also like to put a plug in for Charlie Barr the Frosh Coach at Highlands. That man has won more games that any coach I know over the last 30 years. He is also a scout for the Varsity. I know that they are Freshmen and may not count to many, but he has had numerous undefeated seasons and is a key part to why Highlands Football is a has won all these state titles.

So depressing to fall so far from grace. I said it before and I'll touch on it again: I remember them being such a dominant force when I played back in the Billy Jack Haskins days. That guy electrified that whole ball club. I regret to see any competitor fall from such a sterling standing as the Tilghman program once was. They'll get back up, the good ones always do.

Good for X. I got to see their JV beat up on my Bluebirds and IMO their JV could contend on the Varsity Level in some of the divisions for a state title. They did make some mental mistakes, but they are JV and that's what they are supposed to do to learn. That program is going to be something special for the next few years with all those boys at running back. #4 is pretty amazing.

I am still trying to figure out what mayor of a huge football town would schedule trick or treat the same time as a football game? I am going to find out who helped schedule that and make sure that no one votes for them next election. I already voted due to my being out of town, but, I think it's crazy that we have to compete with that! I guess I'll have to do the ole' leave a basket with the sign of "just take one please" on it on the porch. A P.S.A. to all fans on both sides: Please be careful while driving through town going to the game! Our children, our future, our legacies are going to be out there and they may not be able to see you while crossing the street or driveways.

So, as the season is winding down, what are your predictions for this Madison Central team? Do any MC fans have some stats and info they could share about your team?

Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. When you have not won a game yet, you'll do anything to get it. I would hope that Zach would not do such a thing. He wasn't raised that way, and wasn't coached that way either.

WOW! I look at it as it's their gamble for putting their 1's in and risking injury. Did they try to put one more up quickly at the end or did they kneel on it?

As I was at this game watching this huge multi-platoon team, I just realized how much of a gap there still is between our 3A size school of HHS that plays up on 5A, and a true 6A school who has probably over 1400 boys to pick from. What a great program. I was a little disheartened by some of the comments made by the X fans during the game though. Their fans travel well. I also like the SUV and covered trailer for the medical staff. Nice touch for a JV football team to have that. Our Varsity and probably many other Varsities don't have such a thing. #4 was amazing but also was pretty much everyone else on that team. It was like our fast kids from Highlands were standing still when the X kids were running circles around them. I am not knocking HHS or the effort our boys put forth. X is just truly the fastest team I have ever seen. I think this X JV team has more all-around team speed than Colerain's Varsity. It just seemed like every kid on that team had break away speed and their D swarmed the ball perfectly. Their coaches were very complimentary to each player that came off the field after making a good play, they were told about it. I thought they were also pretty laid back for the most part, but if my team was firing on all cylinders, I guess I would be too. The refs had some questionable calls and there were a few times it seemed like they were confused. I didn't see them signal a few first downs and some other minor details. There was also the long run for a TD #4 but was called back. That kid has a 6th gear that I've never seen before. I am sure that he will play on the next level if he can get a little more size, which I think he will. Overall, I will say that X was everything I thought they were going to be and then some. Hats off to the Birds for hanging in there. Tough one to take on the chin, but sometimes it good to be humbled every once in awhile. It helps us keep perspective.

Nice link to that other thread gamehuntr, I am sure that if you look on any program there may be some kids that play both Varsity and JV. I just view it as a huge risk, especially for a kid from a school with the numbers that X has. I understand use the talent that you have, but when you have 6 deep in the running back spot, maybe you could find enough kids to not have people playing on both sides of the ball, or on 2 teams either. Ideally, you would like to have enough kids to not having anyone be forced to play Offense and Defense, and if you are lucky, Special teams as well. I think we should all just wait to see what happens Saturday.

I agree. How can you kick a program when they're down. No one has gotten on here and ripped Dayton for not having any wins, and the last time I checked, what gets you in the playoffs is W-L record. As of right now, BBHS has just as many as Dayton. I think dude needs to chill out. That's not polite or very sportsmanlike toward a program that has kids going out there and getting their brains beat in just so an adult on here can make fun of them. You should be ashamed of yourself. If dude is a Dayton fan, I just stopped being one.

I have absolutely no idea how they could possibly win. I am just rooting for and picking them since my wife went there and they need a win sometime. I like Zach and hope the best for him, but I would much rather see my wife happy. :thumb:

It is very depressing to hear that Paducah Tilghman is doing that bad. I remember it like it was yesterday playing them twice in 1992. First at the Thoroughbred Bowl at Tates Creek, then for the title game in Louisville. Billy Jack Haskins was one of the most electrifying players I had ever seen. What was funny is that the state printed the title game programs with the QB from COV CATH on it and they didn't even make it. I think his name was McCormick. He was pretty good, but it was Jude Hoffman and the Cogswell boys that I remembered the most from CCH.

Well, we started the season with many more but lost several to the jingle/jangles. Those were required to make the team when TD was coach. I believe that you had to run 10 of them and each had to be under a certain time. We also lost 2 of our most talented players during two-a-days because he refused to let them get water, which we all now know is a big no-no. If those guys would have stuck around, it would've made our year a lot easier. In retrospect, I can't say I blame them for leaving now, but they missed the ring. I would say that my nephew's team that got 3 rings in a row was a pretty special team, but my other nephew that graduated last year had a pretty fantastic team as well.

In 1992, we only had 35 kids on Varsity/JV and won state. I think that mathmatically, we were pretty special.

Sorry Mr. Deaton, I have to go with my wife's alma mater. It's not that I want you all to lose, I just want to see BBHS win one game this year.

Well, like others have stated, we're already with our back against the wall from a numbers standpoint and that's including using the freshmen on JV. If we have kids that'll miss for the ACT, then who knows who'll be in the lineup. I think if there are kids that do not start on varsity, they should be playing JV anyway just to be getting the reps. I think that the JV team as I saw it last, should be the one out there. I don't forsee risking Bardo or any other Varsity players for a JV game. Now if they bring back Austin, who was the starting QB at the beginning of the year, then that's understandable. Either way, and with whatever lineup that is decided upon, I'll be there with bells on. I wish the spirit shop people would come to JV games. It's not as crowded and it would give people an opportunity to buy more. I know Henry, you'll tell me to get involved, but I have been trying for a few months now and haven't made too many connections yet. I just think that if they would sell items at the JV and Frosh home games, you'll make a lot more money having more space for people to buy. I also think they should work something out with the FTJFL to sell during their games as well. The Varsity games are so crowded and when you try to walk by it seems too closterphobic.

The cannon or help coaching?

You know, I would like to win a game like this just as much as the next guy; but to do it with an "altered" line up is not a true win in my book. I would feel very cheated if I were the kids that have been busting and grinding it out all year on Frosh/JV only to have their chance to shine dashed by a junior who is more talented but hasn't played much with or have the chemistry with the rest of the team. It kind of reminds me of the movie "The Replacements" with Gene Hackman and Keanu Reeves. No one (and I am clearly speaking of the kid that will suffer's parents) wants to see their kid get benched just to put up a W on a JV squad from a powerhouse school when he was clearly good enough to start all of the other games this year. I know like everyone else does that Dale will be on that sideline just like he is during the Frosh games, but I just hope that they don't put a bunch of Varsity kids in just for a win. To play kids that are coming back from injury for a rehab assignment if you will, is a whole different story. Rotating someone in just to get reps is different than playing the whole game with a different person.

I would say for special occasions they might. Having one of the best programs in the state at your facility, may be one of those occasions. I hope Mr. Jones doesn't mind all the attention and assistance that he may receive from the Varsity coaches.
