Boyle County Jr. Lamar Dawson just picked up his 1st offer. He was offered a scholarship by UK yesterday morning. This will be the first of many, and as a UK fan I hope he stays home to help the Wildcats.

Wasn't Lamar the only sophomore in the state last year on some type of All-State team? Seems I remember hearing this but I don't know for sure.

Lamar Dawson would definitely have to be in the discussion. There may be some seniors better right now, but I would think he would be the best Junior in the state. He is already receiving interest from UK, Notre Dame and Arkansas. I'm sure there a ton of other schools but those are the three I have heard that are showing the strongest interest. Scary thing is he should only be a sophomore but skipped a grade when he was younger. The kid is very intelligent in the classroom and on the football field. I have also heard there is great LB playing for Madison Southern. Obviously they have had a hard time winning games the past couple of years, but I have heard a few different people say he is one of the most talented players they have seen around and if he were at a bigger football school the offers would be coming in by the dozens. Anyone know who this kid is or can back this story up?

To be fair, west had a horrible call against them also. The play you are talking about happened down around the 20 and Carbol pitched the ball left for a sweep and the back never caught it. The ball then rolled towards the line of scrimmage and 5 East players jumped towards the ball and 1 came out with it. There was 1 west player there also fighting for the ball. The ref on West sidelined then ruled that the RB was down on contact, which was absurd b/c he never even caught the ball or was even hit. It didn't hurt though because fortunately for East, west fumbled again 2 plays later and East recovered. The same ref then missed a call for West on a punt in the 4th quarter. West punted the ball and it got a favorable bounce and the East returner decided to run after the ball for some reason, well he passed the ball and it hit him in the foot and a West player jumped on it. Well the ref never saw it and gave East the ball.

I have seen Boyle play 6 games (Johnson Central, Rockcastle, Mercer, Danville, Lafayette and Catholic). I have seen West play 2 (Spencer and Garrard). From watching those games I foresee a 35+ point win for Boyle. As we have seen with Catholic, the main way to move the ball on Boyle is with a quick strike passing game and even that can only take you so far. But no one has been able to run on Boyle, not Johnson Central, not Eric Shaw and not Raglin for Catholic. And run is the only thing that West does, they may throw it 3 to 5 times a game. For them to have any chance they will have to display some type of aerial attack because they only run between tackles with their FB Duke Brown or they try sweeps with their wing backs. They lack creativity with their offense imo. Their defense has been a strength so far though only giving up around 9 or 10 points per game. They have faced a couple of good athletes but nothing like Rees or nothing like a diversified offense such as Boyle's. If Boyle comes out flat like they did against Danville or Rockcastle I could see West hanging around for a quarter or so but then Boyle will take over and put the game out of reach by halftime. Off topic a little bit but this West team isn't as good as an undefeated team would suggest but they also aren't as bad as some think. I like many of you think Boyle was a 3 or 4 td better team than Catholic, and I think West could put a scare in Catholic and possibly beat them because of the matchup. If Boyle beats West by 40 plus don't let that fool you into thinking that West can't beat Catholic. Boyle is just a really bad matchup for Boyle b/c their whole offense is run oriented and that just won't happen against this defense.

I thought that 76 yard run came off of a slip screen, but maybe it was a run. Even the paper said it was a run but i could have sworn it was a pass. Anybody get a better look at that than me or possibly see the same thing so I don't feel I'm losing it! Either way he did a great job but it seemed Coach French came out to prove to everyone that the team isn't all Rees and they have plenty of weapons. From the opening possession he put Boone in the shotgun and with 5 wide and Boone responded in a huge way. If he can continue to throw the ball like that and spread it out, it will tough for anyone to stop Boyle this year because teams can't just sit back and watch Rees. I think Lafayettes entire defense was geared to stopping Rees that 1st quarter and all of a sudden Boone comes out slinging it all over the field and by the time Lafayette starts realizing whats happening they are down 3 or 4 touchdowns.

I think they would need to matchup with Highlands first along with Trinity and St. X. They may not be able to get by Boyle either the way they handled Lafayette tonight.

Does Hometown Radio Network have an internet feed that you can hear outside of Kentucky? I heard that the Central Kentucky Sports Network was also broadcasting the games and I know have an internet feed, but there isn't anything much better than hearing Steve calling the games.

Yeah I just got on their site. They are starting a sports academy, LyonHeart Sports Academy. I don't think it is necessarily football specific. There was a story about it being for all sports, genders and ages and that it is to improve speed and agility.

I think it is the Central Kentucky Sports Network. I plan on listening, think it starts at 6:30. Have heard they do UK football preview, high school football preview and then soccer sometimes. Really just want to hear Dicky, he always seems to say crazy things when put in front of a mic.

Has anyone heard about a Football Preview show on Thursdays with Dicky Lyons and Shomari Moore? Heard they do a pick'em contest with like 10 games from around central Kentucky.

Seems like the Central Kentucky Sports Network is getting to some teams around central Ky that don't get much coverage. Doesn't seem like East and West Jessamine get much coverage aside from when CKSN is there. I know Hometown Radio Network does a good job getting Boyle, Mercer, Garrard and Lincoln areas. Gary Ball usually gets 1 of the Lexington games each week. I think WAZOO has the Catholic/Christian game this week and CKSN is doing the Henry Clay/Lafayette game.

Any way to edit the poll and replace Quan Weaver with someone else? Maybe the Shelton kid from Mayfield. No disrespect meant to Quan b/c if not for his season ending injury I think he could be a favorite at this point of the season.

Darrell Cross is not eligible for Mr. Football because he is just a junior. He will be in the discussion next year though. A very good talent but one that likely won't get much recognition because of where he plays. Though if you did get that chance to watch Rowan Co. he is definitely worth the price of admission.

I agree wholeheartedly that he needs to gain some muscle. Just looking at him he has good length and have heard he could even grow a couple more inches but he is very skinny. He could be very scary on the mound if he could pack on about 30 lbs.

I have to disagree with you on Cinnamon. I watched him throw a few times this summer and his best strength was the fact he got stronger in most all his games as they went along. He would start out 85-88 and then around the third inning be 87-90 and would sustain it through the rest of the game. His curveball wasn't nearly as crisp this year as I have seen in the past but his changeup was much better and was sitting around 72-76. It had very good speed differential. Also heard he went undefeated for his summer team and had an era below 1 with over 100 k's, not sure on stats but thats what was told to me. The last game I saw him throw was for the 19u Danville Legion team and he was still throwing 85-88 in the 9th inning against Oldham County.

I have seen a couple of posts on here stating that if such and such can win the title or get to the title game they can win MR. Football. If I remember correctly the voting is done even before the semifinals. Seems like I remember people around Boyle talking about his very thing when Brandon Smith finished second to Curtis Pulley because they played in the semi's and Brandon thoroughly outplayed Pulley.

Does anyone know the time of possession difference. Rockcastle did keep the ball for the majority of the game and it did limit the carries Rees had. It's just that every time he touched the ball it was a touchdown. Boyle only ran like 8 total plays in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. The flag on Boyle to end the half was about 15 yards behind the play it looked from where I was standing, so I am not sure what happened. As for the pass interference it was the correct call. The defender had his back to the ball and ran straight towards the WR with his hands up and bumped him before the ball got there.

I have also heard that the Central Kentucky Sports Network is going to be their broadcasting the game live in both audio and video on their network.

Who did the mustangs pitch? That's an impressive victory. Will the mustangs get another chance to play the knights in the tournament?

Danville beat Ashland 8-0 last night in the winners bracket championship game. Heard the Cinnamon (?) kid was throwing upper 80's and struck out like 18 batters. Danville also has scored 36 runs in their 3 games. Is there much pitching at the tournament or can this team really hit like that? What highschool do their kids play at?

How did Ashland look? Are they the team to beat? They are usually really good every year at the Jr. and Sr. levels for American Legion. Ashland plays Morehead this morning, with the winner playing Danville tonight.

Anyone in Ashland this weekend watching, I hear there are 8 teams from around the state playing in the double elimination tournament. The Mustangs team that won the 16u USSSA state is playing there as the Danville Legion team. Heard from people there that they beat Oldham Co. 14-13 and then Bowling Green 14-3. Are they the team to beat? Any info on the other teams?

The Mustangs looked good in the Championship and really throughout the entire tournament. They sure can hit the ball, and the Cinnamon kid is a really nice looking pitcher. Is it true that they haven't lost to a Ky team all year? Have they played KBC?

Well I know for a fact that Yeast had asked for a job in the Lincoln school system. He has also been looking for other jobs around Lincoln which could keep him closer to the team, but none became available. And I wouldn't blame Yeast too much, because it seems that Lincoln has a revolving door for coaches in most sports there. At some point I would have to stop blaming the coaches and look more at the A.D. and other school administrators to find out what is going on.
