A lot of people made their prediction before many games had been played. Now that we are 5 weeks into the season, here is a chance to reconsider your vote.

My vote would go to Rees McShara..

It has to be the best player on the best team, Antonio Andrews.

I watch Antonio play every week, and he amazes me with his talent and diversity every week. He is my vote!!!

I voted other, I think the Cross kid from Rowan needs to be on this list.

I've still got to roll with Miles. Granted I haven't seen many others play. Weaver shouldn't even be on the list. He's shut down for '09.

Im still voting Reese from Boyle. The kid has not played an entire game yet due to blowouts and look at his numbers. Just think what his numbers would be if he got the touches most running backs on this list get. Im not sure of the number but he cant be averaging more than 15 touches a game.

Just wanted to add that Reese averaged 37 yards a carry against Mercer. I know Mercer as a program seems to be on a decline. But 37 yards a touch is very impressive against anyone.

Rees is averaging 10.75 carries a games.

 

 

He has 43 carries for 841 yards and 13 tds through 4 games.

That's a statement a person would make if they haven't had a chance to see him play. I guarantee if you watched him play, you wouldn't feel that way.

 

As I mentioned in the other Mr. Football thread, when the schedules were released Boyle County had 8 teams that were ranked in the preseason on their schedule. Now at this point, it looks like over half of their schedule is down this year, including LexCath, which I believe is not the case. These teams may be "down" by their programs status, but I'd like to see how many district winners we played at the end of the year.

 

By all means, feel free to take a look at Boyle County's schedule and please let us know what games we can circle on our calendar that will add some validity to Rees' numbers and the year he is having. I keep hearing that Rees is doing this against teams that aren't any good, but I say that until the end of the season, we have no idea how good any of these teams really are.

 

If Simpson's team losing last Friday doesn't hurt him, if Collinsworth not playing on Friday doesn't hurt him and if Andrews playing in 2A doesn't hurt him, then in the same respect the fact that Boyle County is destroying people, so far to date, shouldn't hurt Rees. I am going to promote Rees as long as his numbers allow, but I am not going to tell you why somebody shouldn't be Mr. Football. They are all deserving, but I want my hometown boy who is having a spectacular season to get some statewide respect and some recognition for the spectacular year all of us Boyle County Rebels knew he was going to have this year.:ylsuper:

 

For the record, next year in this thread, I'll be telling why Lamar Dawson should be Mr. Football. We Rebel fans aren't going anywhere.:thumb:

Reese is averaging a 20 yard run every time he touches the ball. No matter who you are playing you have to respect those numbers. If you didn't it would just show a whole lot bias. Any of those other RB's on the list averaging 20 a carry? I dont know the stats I'm just curious?

Is there exact specifications for winning Mr. Football? None of these polls have Rees listed in their Heading, yet his name is mentioned several times in every one, even from people who arent from Boyle, why so much resistance?
