I don't think he will win, but I will say, if Haydon was at at bigger school he would be very high in the conversation. He is in Lexington and he is a beast, he is a D1 prospect and is getting a lot of D1 attention. He is deserving, but like I said, I would be really surprised if a 1A player got it, no matter what the quality of schedule.

At this point, my feelings are that Collinsworth would win it over Rees MacShara and Antonio Andrews even though they will likely end up with better stats. Collinsworth has received far more statewide recognition than those two combined, and the voters know who he is so I would understand completely if he wins it over Rees or Antonio. I think it would take out of this world stats for Rees or Antonio to win. I think it'll be interesting to see how the race for Mr. Football shapes up because I have no doubt that, barring injury, Rees and Antonio may very well put up those out of this world stats.

 

I think you have a very realistic view on the Mr. Football selection. We can only hope that gridiron prowess trumps popularity and name recognition when the votes are cast. I am glad to see that your man has finally started getting the recognition he deserves.

Yeah, Rees has earned the recognition as well as Antonio Andrews. You really should take a look at this kid if ever possible. I'd like to see this Andrews kid play. I've heard nothing but good things about him so I'm sure he'd be fun to watch. :thumb:

I agree. The reason is most people only see the people on there team and the team they are playing.

 

I voted for Reese he is the best player I have seen this year and will probablly have the best stats in the state after week 10..

Now I know he may not be Mr. Football but there is a very good player down in Lawrence County named Shane Pack. He doesn't put up the big flashy numbers, he is a big bruising RB at about 6'1 235lbs. His stats right now are 57 carries, 469 yards, 8.2 per attempt, and 9 touchdowns all while being a top 15 punter in the state. Any time they need a yard or 2 he always picks it up. He puts that team on his back very often and has carried them to a 4-0 record so far. Now I know he isn't as flashy and won't be considered for it, he is one heck of a football player.

He sounds like a do-it all kind of player. Does he play defense? That big frame of his makes him sound like a linebacker.

He doesn't play a lot of D, they like to keep him fresh for offense since he is the main ball carrier, and they have a very capable set of linebackers already in there. But if it is a big run stop situation and they need some big bodies in they will bring him in.

Sounds like a good player. The fact that the team is 4-0 makes his numbers seem even better.
