Another Rees MacShara video.

 

Again, I'd let it load and then watch it.

 

 

Saw the videos of Rees and would have to put him behind Antonio. They did show that he could play defense (at least a down or two), but the video still just showed him as a runningback. While he might be hte best RB in the state, I do not think these videos show that he is the best all around football player in the state.

The 1 thing that I did noticed in the Rees videos is his linemen are in the endzone seconds after the long runs. At one time I counted all 11 players in the endzone before he could turn around on a 60 yard run. I think he will be the first one to tell you, the downfield blocking is great!

I have no clue did Jeff Brohm, Tim Couch, Jared Lorenzen, Montrell Jones, Michael Bush, Brian Brohm, Douglas Beaumont, or last years Deuce Finch play alot of Defense?

I didn't realize when I posted these videos that they had to be videos showing he is the best all around football player in the state. I was just sharing what I found. I know someone in this thread or the other one asked if there was videos of Rees. I was just obliging that person.

 

It seems as though it doesn't matter what the videos show, Rees will never be as good as Antonio Andrews in some people's eyes, which is fine. I understand completely.:thumb:

Don't get me wrong, the videos were good as was the playing of Rees. It was very nice of you to show that you had found what someone else was asking about. I only mentioned the defense part because a few of the plays showed him on defense, so I assume he is playing on it as well.

 

Although I do not have a vote in Mr. Football, I would like to think that it goes to the best all-around football player and made the comment that the videos only really showed one aspect of Rees.

 

My UNOFFICIAL vote goes to Antonio because I support FC and its players and I think he has a good chance. If I was able to see some fo these other people and saw what they could do, I might agree that the vote belongs to someone else. It just seems that to many people go for a singel position player, rather than the best all around player. A few years back, when Micah Johnson was selected, some say it was because of his offense, say say his defensive skills. I would like to believe it was because he was good on both sides of the ball, the best ALL-AROUND player.

 

Thanks again for putting up the videos, they were good to watch and Rees is surely a great player.

Regardless of how good someone is at a particular position, does not make them the best all around football player, including those on your list. It seems that most of the players are QBs and RBs. I donot have a problem with those selections, but that does not mean they are the best all around player in the state.

You are correct Hatz that Rees does have a INT returned for a touchdown against Pikeville. Other than that he does have some tackles, but for someone to get to Rees they first have to get by Grant and Paul, then Lamar, and that's not happening so far this year.

I never said they have to play on both sides of the ball, but if they are really good on both sides of the ball or are not one dimensional, it gives credit to them as the best football player in the state. Just because someone is the best QB or RB, does not make them the best football player in KHSAA. IMO, if they are the best football player, they can do more than one thing, not just throw or run.

According to your stats on Andrews he has 9 total tackles.

 

Quite likely Rees has as many and like Rebel pointed out, the way Boyle has stopped teams, he doesn't get a lot of chances for tackles.

 

He does have the INT for a TD which is pretty special from the defensive side as well.

No problem. I guess I just wish the posts wouldn't turn into a "my guy is better than your guy because........" kind of conversation. They are both extremely talented football players when they have the ball in their hands and they both do different things on the field for their team's success. They are both deserving and are easily bona fide candidates(if not the top 2) for Mr. Football. When I began posting on BGP about Rees' accomplishments on the field, all I wanted for him to be mentioned with the top 5 players in the state, because I think he clearly is. I would like to think that I have helped earn him some recognition, but Rees has done all the work to receive the recognition he truly deserves. I am just a proud fan watching and I enjoy watching him play and then being able to come home and share the great times with fellow Rebel fans here on BGP.:thumb:

 

What can I say, I love Rees MacShara. He's easily my favorite Boyle County Rebel football player ever.
