I agree!! :thumb: I don't care what level Hayden is playing. I think he should be in the discussion for Mr. Football.

 

If it were today and I had a vote, I would give it Dominique Hayden. I wouldn't want to play Lexington Christian right now - a big game against LexCath could go a long way.

 

Rees MacShara and Antonio Andrews were front runners at the start of the season and still are - they are just amazing athletes.

 

I also like Tevin McCaden - if Bryan Station keeps on winning - McCaden must be considered.

Rees MacShara tops 1000 yards for the year after adding 194 yards on 17 carries with 4 td(he did lose a fumble, though:cry:).

 

I believe his totals are now 1035 yards on 60 carries with 17 rushing tds(18 total) through 5 games.

Xavier Shelton, a WR from Mayfield is putting up some incredible #s...He would have to be in the discussion at the very least...

Hayden had 191yds on 31 carries & 2 TD (104 for his career).

Now I know he may not be Mr. Football but there is a very good player down in Lawrence County named Shane Pack. He doesn't put up the big flashy numbers, he is a big bruising RB at about 6'1 235lbs. His stats right now are 57 carries, 469 yards, 8.2 per attempt, and 9 touchdowns all while being a top 15 punter in the state. Any time they need a yard or 2 he always picks it up. He puts that team on his back very often and has carried them to a 4-0 record so far. Now I know he isn't as flashy and won't be considered for it, he is one heck of a football player.

 

Shane had another big game tonight with around 145 yds and 2 TD's. The thing about him is he could be running for 200-300yds a game but LC spreads it around with about 5 backs. It all stems from Shane though. I've been coaching football for almost 13 years. I've coached against schools like Highlands, Trinity, X, Belfry, Pburg, Bell etc. I can't remember a game where a running back ran much more physical than Shane did tonight. He reminds me of Dustin May from Belfry. He absolutly trucked several kids one on one tonight and didn't go down.

He might be the best punter in the state too. He's getting a lot of looks. He might not win Mr Football but he's been playing like a 1st team all state fullback!

Tevin McCaden led Bryan Station to the win at PRP with 287 yds on 30 carries and 2 TD's. Station started their back-up QB and PRP stacked the line with 9 & 10 in the box and the kid still went for 287. He has almost 1100 yds and 17 TD's in 5 games against quality 6A teams, if he is not the front runner then this award is a farce.

After last night seeing Simpson healthy for the first time this year, he is the man.

What is the word on his injury? If he is going to be out for a while that would hurt his chances. If he dosn't miss any time after last night his name should be in their with the rest.

That's a statement a person would make if they haven't had a chance to see him play. I guarantee if you watched him play, you wouldn't feel that way.

 

As I mentioned in the other Mr. Football thread, when the schedules were released Boyle County had 8 teams that were ranked in the preseason on their schedule. Now at this point, it looks like over half of their schedule is down this year, including LexCath, which I believe is not the case. These teams may be "down" by their programs status, but I'd like to see how many district winners we played at the end of the year.

 

By all means, feel free to take a look at Boyle County's schedule and please let us know what games we can circle on our calendar that will add some validity to Rees' numbers and the year he is having. I keep hearing that Rees is doing this against teams that aren't any good, but I say that until the end of the season, we have no idea how good any of these teams really are.

 

If Simpson's team losing last Friday doesn't hurt him, if Collinsworth not playing on Friday doesn't hurt him and if Andrews playing in 2A doesn't hurt him, then in the same respect the fact that Boyle County is destroying people, so far to date, shouldn't hurt Rees. I am going to promote Rees as long as his numbers allow, but I am not going to tell you why somebody shouldn't be Mr. Football. They are all deserving, but I want my hometown boy who is having a spectacular season to get some statewide respect and some recognition for the spectacular year all of us Boyle County Rebels knew he was going to have this year.:ylsuper:

I'd give McCaden the nod right now. Hes had a huge year!

McCaden and McShara should be 1-2 based on numbers. A few guys that deserve some pub Alber from Ashland, Shaw Lafeyette and while not Mr Football Burchette QB from Pburg has led an amazing season!

Miles Simpsons performance last night was a head turner!!!

At this point I think it's between McCaden, McShara, Simpson, Collinsworth and Andrews. It's going to come down to stats and how their teams do in the playoffs and who they play along the way. Unlike previous years when there was a clear front runner, the race this year is interesting with so many deserving kids.
