  1. Coston stepped up big hitting 5 open threes created because of all the attention on Bolden. Englemon a rebounding machine. Where are all the "Holmes played a weak schedule" "PRP coming out of Louisville will be to tough for Holmes" proponents. PRP extremenly athletic but I bet they didn't score more than 5 baskets off of set offense. Holmes much more disciplined. Too hard to know how good Madison Central is as they played an inferior opponent today. Should be a good game Friday.
  2. Why Depaul? Regional MVP and a Final four while at KY. Way more exposure. Injured knee could have happened any where.
  3. In my era. Schloemer Beal Jennings R. Johnson Bolden This team would be pretty good.
  4. Holmes 1980 Quarters: Holmes 97 Ashland 92. Back and forth high scoring affair. Late into the night on Friday. Holmes was spent and got throttled the next day by eventual champ Owensboro. Wish the new format was in place then. Holmes got back to their rooms about 2am and had to play again at 11:30. Dicky Beal's senior season. This was back in the day when kids could shoot as evidenced by the score without the 3-point line.
  5. Stay away from the wack job parents in WV.
  6. I think the Park Hills Mafia has the separation issues. Don't think they have won without coach Listerman. Holmes is glad to have a class act and great coach on their sideline.
  7. Back to the game. Chames was huge tonight especially after Englemon injury slowed him for most of the game. His effort in the fourth and overtime playing with 4 fouls was huge and gave Holmes the opportunity to hang in and win.
  8. The complaining was going to come no matter who won. My Holmes bias had lots of examples lined up if they would have lost. Maybe some Charles Hurtt karma left in the tank.
  9. Dicky had plenty around him. Everyone knows Bolden is going to have ball with not many options. His shot this afternoon was money. Onions. Have to wait and see his progression after he grows taller and stronger. Bolden's game ahead of Dickie's at this point as a sophomore.
  10. Let's get this straight. Doug class of 78 Dickie class of 80. Dickie was a sophomore the year of the no call at Freedom Hall. Dickie only started one game his sophomore season, the state final game. Bolden is farther ahead of Dickie as a sophomore. Tough to compare the era's as summer ball was not as prevalent in the late 70's as it is today. Player's develop much faster today. I believe Bolden's ceiling is higher than Dickie's. Bolden's numbers are better but Dickie was on a better team. Bolden is probably the best player in the region as a sophomore Dickie was not even the best player on his team as a sophomore. Dickie was the dominant player his senior season and it paid off with a full ride to UK where despite knee injuries he had a fine career including a NCAA regional MVP. Hopefully, Bolden will become the next big thing to come out of Holmes making all of us Bulldog alumni very proud.
  11. I don't care if Coach Booher brings in Tony Yates to teach stall ball and Dean Smith and run the four corners if it means another trip to Rupp.
  12. Surely you are kidding. If you look at all sports, track, football, cross country, swimming, golf, ALL sports no school comes close. Have to include ALL sports. Don't forget about bowling!!
  13. Holmes just needs to play their game and not overlook Jags. If Holmes overlooks Cooper coach Sully will hand them the L. Just like last night Holmes needs to be sharp early and not let teams get big leads on them and force them to come back. This was the case in their only two losses this year. Although they did come back in both those games it is not a position you want your team in but it is nice to know they can respond if the game does get away from them early. Holmes 60 to 50. Shooting has to improve for both teams from last night.
  14. Thanks for the reprieve Dawgs. Got stuck in Columbus and had to listen on line. I know it is small town radio but the score should be the most important info they report. Several times they went to break and did not update the score. Can't wait to get to the game on Saturday. Sounds like I missed the traffic jam anyway.
  15. Good win for the dawgs. Nice bounce back after buzzer beater that could have demoralized them.
  16. Could be the best time to get Holmes or the worst coming off Friday's classic with NCC.
  17. Bolden is the best player I have seen since Dicky Beal. He is the real deal. Holmes played scared for three quarters, played not to lose instead of to win. I hope the rematch materializes in the regional final.
  18. 7- NCC 5- Cooper 3- Mason County 2- Bellevue 1- Bracken County TB Cooper TB- Bracken County
  19. I have 4 years of eligibility left and only need 1000. 10 a game 25 games a year and I am home.
  20. I disagree they would be at least 11-10!!
  21. I recall similar polls in 2009 stating Holmes could not go thru the Christian County, Lexington Catholic, Elliott County and Region 6/7 winner gauntlet. Can't remember how that ended up.
  22. The NKY homers seem to keep this website running.
  23. Just a little dig. Your top 20 is a least more credible than Mr. Cantrall's Commodore 64 rankings. Love this site and all the moderator's work.
