One of the classiest thinks I have heard of. Major props to Coach Leep and the folks at Trimble County. We'll make sure that it gets mentioned tonight at our game.

This traditionalist thinks it a Very Classy move! Shows a lot of respect for Dallas.

How many points shy of 1,000 would be TOO many? What if he needed 25? If 13 only takes about a minute of action why not take two minutes and get 25 if necessary?

I see Clyde's point. I guess this would have to be done on a case by case basis, and depending on the coaches and school admins preferences. However, it is a good question. I would have thought the KHSAA would have looked into this before a precedent had been set. Kind of hard to criticize when the players and everyone involved hearts' are in the right place here.

 

Spindoc's got a good idea too about ppg average as well.

Count me in this camp too. This endeavor is obviously well intentioned, but to have to script 7 possessions is a bit much. The young man doesn't need the 1,000th point to define him. He is a winner and a champion, based on what I read, without this charade.

 

What a life lesson here, don't worry son, if life throws you a bad break, we'll script it for you to make it right.
