  1. I have no problem with Ryle being ahead of Watlon bc of the head to head, and I would think their strength of schedule would be close. No way Walton could be worse than second. Do people that vote in these polls even pay attention. What is this poll, I guess we need a BGP poll to sort this out.
  2. Nice job by GC, good luck in regionals
  3. I am going with Boone, I agree it is a toss up. Sure seems like Connor peaked to early.
  4. Isn't this Maddie Blevins a player? I have only seen her once about 4 years ago but I thought she was really good for her age. Her dad can't find a way around this, crazy!!
  5. What is the fee for the 9th region basketball tourney to be held at KY Bank, I would think a fraction of what it cost to hold the softball tourney at NKU. I doubt they make enough on the basketball to cover the fees.
  6. Holy Cross won big in 3, The story though is the districts not being held at NKU, I think it makes it feel like the playoffs being held at a complex like NKU vs a place like softball city. With the regions being held at St Henry it will be the same way. I have heard NKU wanted around $700 to host Districts and $1200 to host the region, I can understand both sides of NKU needing to make some money and the schools not wanting to pay that amount but I would think the field sits empty up there these next 2 weeks and the girls are not getting the experience they could have. So it is a lose/lose for both sides.
  7. SSC replied to SSC's topic in KY Softball (High School)
Very nice, best of luck to Brooke in college, I am going to have to start a master list of girls from this area in college to keep up with.
  8. Who would NKU be looking at this game?
  9. No disrespect, but I am not sure Highlands has done anything this season to deserve to be in the regions. Stupid they way they do the draw but I am not sure anyone would feel sorry for HHS if they lose. New Cath has done a little more and they would more deserving in my mind, so I believe they have more to lose. This district may be worse than the 35th this year and that is bad.
  10. I saw SK on Saturday and thought they looked fairly good, Morgan looked better than in previous years I have seen her and they caught the ball. Not sure how good their offense is bc of the pitching they faced but I would think they have a chance against Walton. That being said I will take Walton by 4.
  11. Could the game not be rescheduled ahead of time, I believe you have till Sat to get all the Districts games in?
  12. I do not know the Miller girl or her family personal at all but I am a fan of all girls that play softball, I have checked up on how she is doing this season several times and like to root on all local girls. She had one awesome game against NKU and 1 really bad game. This is why people get on BGH so much is bc he is not accurate. Miller had an awesome era this season and was only 3 games under .500, 1 great game vs NKU one bad game is it that hard to say, would anyone on here think any less of her for having a bad game.
  13. 35th District starts tonight at Softball City. HC takes on Cov Latin, HC should win this one. Holmes vs Beechwood, I will take Beechwood, if they win they make the regions which is kinda crazy! NDA vs HC, as much as it pains me NDA should come out with the win. HC is playing better as of late and if their pitchers can throw stikes it could be a game but HC would need a lot to fall in place in order to pull out the upset. Is there a worse place to have a district tourney at than Softball City?
  14. We attend at agree a lot and I am not totally disagreeing with you on this but I think all coaches look at different things. I can only speak on the situation that my daughter and most her teammates went through. Besides a question in passing like how are your grades none of coaches really did any type of research on them before making an offer. They did for the most part speak of what they will do when there to meet certain reguirments. And again none of the coaches at least with my kid asked about stats in general. I have heard Radford's coach tell people at camps he could care less about summer ball stats much less HS stats, he wants to know how you did when you faced pitchers that are going to pitch at the D1 level bc that is what you will be facing when there. My question would be how do the Brossart parents feel about BGH stats, I know I want to know what my kids true stats are or as close as possible. I do agree if it is questionable at this HS level it should be a hit. But if it is not give an error.
  15. Congrats to New Cath, sounds like the Louisville win tonight, There is a real good chance Beechwood will make the region tourney, even though they are in a weak district and the district is down this year the thought of them making the regions just a year or two ago was unthinkable.
  16. I wanted to give a shout out to Holy Cross's lone senior for the 2012 season. Leah Volphein (sp?) Leah has been a 5 year starter for HC and been part of the main group of girls that started playing softball for HC as it switched from slow pitch to fast. Most the girls at HC were against the switch so it was not an easy decision for some girls to play. I have a tremendous amount of respect for girls like Leah. She has never been a "star" or a girl that gets her name in the paper but always shows up and works hard. Leah has played volleyball, basketball, and softball for 4 years. So she has had very little time off during her HS career and HC is a better place bc of her!! We all here stories of the Ginn's, Salzer's, Moran's and Smith et all, and they deserve the credit but HS sports wouldn't be the same with out girls like Leah. Leah isn't going to go to school to play sports but my guess is she will be very successfully in life. Best of luck to her. I would love to hear stories of other seniors that we may not be familar with.
  17. I am agreeing with you, I don't know the teams but you are pretty detailed so looks good to me. Which region is stronger the 9th or the 10th? I would not have Bracken and Brossart in the 9th's top 5 but they would be close.
  18. I know I have been guilty of this and I was leading the pack talking about his Magic pencil, (which is all true) but I can understand why he doesn't get on here much. As a group we are pretty hard on him. I don't know him personally and I know some people at rival schools have a real problem with him, but is there an AD that does more for softball than BGH?
  19. I have no clue about her, but I have heard cases where walk ons sign. Morehead will have the KY all time hits leader and also the all time home run leader in Amber Riddle on the same team next season. Riddle hit a home run a couple years ago against HC and I thought it was going out of the 340" fences at FOPA. Unreal power. Congrats to Jenalee again!!
  20. Congrats to St Henry! Nice job also by Brossart, after seeing them early in the year I believe they have somewhat overachived this season. Brossart always finds ways to put a good season together.
  21. Will take St henry by 6, better pitching and their top players are better than Brossart's top players.
  22. I understand that, nothing Brossart could do. Don't understand why Ryle could not have done a little work and got their field ready.
  23. Porky, thanks we both love HS ball as well just in a bad situation, but we will get through it. I try not to miss any HS or summer games, I try an convince work that softball is more important but they don't always see it that way!!
  24. Awesome job, I am sure New Cath will benefit from this team in the years to come.
