Ryle 5 Walton Verona 4
Nice win for Ryle, both teams are raising the bar for NKY. I love that Walton and Ryle are playing challenging schedules. I also like that they play as many games as they can get in. My daughter has played for 5 years now and I bet Walton has played an average of 10 to 20 games more a year. Some of that is do to success in All A and doing better in post season but I think your girls get better playing so many more games. Best of luck to both teams.

Are they the team he's waiting for an offer from?

College Softball
There will be a lot of it on TV this week. It almost feels like the first weekend of the men's tourney, makes me want to take off work Thursday through Sunday! ESPN will carry every inning of the SEC tourney. I may be the only one that cares about this on here but the Big South conf finals will be on ESPNU Sunday at noon. Radford is the #1 seed and hopefully they make it to the finals. They have a respectable RPI of around 50 but probably need to win the tourney to get in.

Kristen Allen
I agree, I would be shocked it Morgan pitched any where near 62, she may have hit it once but does not pitch near that, When I saw her last year I would have guessed more around 55 but I don't have a gun so who knows...With her body 62 would be getting her D1 looks. How hard was Allen thowing when she was at Ryle? I know the 43" has changed the game and a lot of pitchers had to adjust but my guess is as dominant as she was she may have been thowing a little harder at Ryle.

Brossart at St. Henry
I will go St Henry 4-0, St Henry has better pitching and their top players are better than Brossarts top players.
-
Notre Dame at Conner
I have not seen either play but I will agree with you, 6 to 1 Connor. 2 week ago I would have said Connor big but they seem to have come down a hair while NDA is playing well.

Kristen Allen
Did anyone else get to catch her make the start today on ESPN for senior day. Pretty cool for her, they said it was her 3rd start of the year and I am sure one she will remember for a long time. I am sure she hasn't gotten the playing time she would have liked to over her 4 years but she played on some great Sooner teams and I bet she will have some stories to tell. Congrats to Miss Allen on all she has accomplished over her softball career.

Mamee Salzer (St.Henry) signs with Thomas More College
I agree, It is really hard for parents to know where their kid belongs. Makes no sence to play on a team that is filled with D3 type players in the summer if you are or you think you are a D1 type player most college coaches won't come and watch you play unless you are a 6'3 pitcher and throw 68 mph

One of the things some people miss out on with the College showcase thing is just bc you play on a team that goes to those type of tourneys doesnt mean coaches are going to watch your team. I know of a lot of these teams that go to showcases and don't get a look. There can be upwards of 60 teams at these tourney's at 5 games a piece that is 300 games and if you are lucky there may be 30 to 40 coaches there and most are only going to stay for a day or two out of the 4 day tourney. I can only speak form my experience and only for what the D1 coaches I have talked to and dealt with say and this is by no means the rule but the way I have seen it. Most scholarships come with relationships between college coaches and club coaches. Take UK most their girls have come from about 4 or 5 different travel ball orgs, the Sluggers, TN furry, Southern Force, Atl Vipors and the Shamrocks out of VA. Its just easier for coaches that way they know the travel coaches know what kind of schedule they play and know what type of player you need to be to compete at that level. That doesn't mean you have to play on one of those teams to play for KY but it sure does help.

Mamee Salzer (St.Henry) signs with Thomas More College
I agree. Being so late in her senior year she more than likely is going to have to try and walk on at a school unless someone has something free up late. Hopefully she can get a prefered walk on and earn some money down the road. As happy as I am for Salzer I would be more happy if she would have stayed at Holy Cross may have changed some things. (not blaming her for leaving at all just would have been cool to have her there)

Ryle 5 Boone 0
The more things change the more they stay the same, as of today I would say Ryle top pick in the 9th. As far as Ryle and WV I think I will take Ryle, I am sure the game could go either way. This is for sure the game of the year as far as regular season goes in NKY.

Bishop Brossart 6 Newport 1
I think if I am going to have any thoughts on this I would need to full story. Did he refuse to shake hands or did he just simply not shake hands. It is my understanding that BGH is the score keeper so I am not sure there is a need for him to shake hands, does he have an injury that would make it difficult for him to go through the line? Or was BGH acting out and doing this out of anger? love softball drama!!

Any word on where Ginn from Walton may end up?

Bishop Brossart 6 Newport 1
Don't know much if anything about Newport but a couple of years ago they were really bad, not sure what their record is this year but seems like their scores have been pretty respectable. Seems as if they are moving in the right direction.

Boone 4 Reading (OH) 1
Seems like NKY teams have done well against Cincy teams this spring, Congrats to Boone

Pitching coach search...
Thanks I think!! I some what disagree, my daughter is very lucky to get to play at a high level during travel ball and there are some great coaches but again there are coaches that are not as strong but have great connections with college coaches and at that level that is the most important thing. We have 3 teams in our org, the guy the runs the org I would hardly agree with as far as x' and o's. I think at last count we had 41 out of 45 kids getting full or almost full rides to D1 schools, hard for me say he doesn't know what he is doing. The guy that coaches our team is great with x' and o's him and the head of the org never see I to I but they work it out. Doug Anderson formely with the DOOM who my daughter played with the last couple of years is not a great teacher but is a great coach. I would never go to him for hitting or fielding advice but every thing else he brings to the table is great. I would play with him any day of the week. I think it is hard to be strong in all areas as far as coaching, I think as far as travel ball goes you need a staff that all can work together and get the most out of it. I am not a great coach so these are just my thoughts on some things that I have seen. Heck I think Dusty Baker is the worse coach ever but is like top 10 or 20 in career wins so again what do I know!

Pitching coach search...
End of story, good luck to your family at Villa.

Mamee Salzer (St.Henry) signs with Thomas More College
Congrats, IMO Thomas More got a steal here as far as softball goes. I think Salzer is easly a D2 player and in the right spot could surely help a lot of D1 schools. TM has another really good player coming in next year who again IMO is a D1 type player, Anna Walters from Lebannon OH. Mamee has been one of the best players in the area for a long time nice to see her hard work pay off.

Notre Dame 9 Bracken County 0
Even though it hurts me to say it nice win by the Pandas, seems they are starting to play well at the right time. How has Bracken been this year?

Bishop Brossart 8 Highlands 2
I may get you to come over to the dark side after all!!

Pitching coach search...
History I do agree, and I tried to make reference to that in my post good bad or indifferent I think he deserves credit for the effort he put fourth at both NDA and in summer ball. Truthfully I don't know if he is a good or bad coach, I am just now sharing some details that were shared with me. As far as coaching my daughter I would be fine with it if he was my daughters HS coach, not so much for summer.

Bishop Brossart 8 Highlands 2
If you look at the stats for greater Cincinnati and NKY between Withrow, NDA and Brossart they have like 12 of the top 40 hitters in the area. I don't know a single thing about any of the girls and I don't want to take anything away from them. Those 3 schools are maybe average to below average overall if you are adding both sides of the river yet they have over 25% of the top hitters in the area, sounds funny to me. Stats are fun but wins and losses are better. A team like Brossart has done great over the years and BGH does a great job at promoting his kids but I would never believe any of his players stats. He can get on here with that dead horse and say people are crazy and maybe we are but it would be cool if everyone kept stats as close to correct as possible.
