Kristen Allen

Did anyone else get to catch her make the start today on ESPN for senior day. Pretty cool for her, they said it was her 3rd start of the year and I am sure one she will remember for a long time. I am sure she hasn't gotten the playing time she would have liked to over her 4 years but she played on some great Sooner teams and I bet she will have some stories to tell.

Congrats to Miss Allen on all she has accomplished over her softball career.

I didnt but good for her. She was an awesome talent from the No. KY area. Congrats !

Wacthed the whole game, it was Senior Day, so it was only right that she got the start. They said she has only pitched a total of 15 1/3 innings all year, when your ace can throw 72 mph and she tops out at 62 mph doesn't bode well. She gave up 3 runs in 2 innings and didn't get any run support. She did re-enter in the 6th after Ricketts got "shelled". Congrats to her for sticking it out at Oklahoma when she could have easily found another D1 school to start for. Not many from this area can say they played for one of the best programs in the country. :thumb:

Ask my daughter the career highlight of her high school career and without hesitation it would that she got a hit off of Kirsten. Of course that was over 4 years but she was on a small list of players that can make that claim.

She is the most dominant athlete I've seen in NKY in decades.

Cool, you are right that's a VERY small list.

Although I followed her HS days in newspaper articles, I remember the 1st time I saw her pitch, Regional finals at Dixie against Conner her Sr. year. My wife and daughter, who is a So. now, were commenting on how fast the girl from Conner was throwing in the 1st inning. Then when Allen came out and warmed up "our mouths hit the floor", and to think at that time she was throwing from 40 feet. Later in the game she sent one over the fence to "dead center". SPECIAL talent to say the least.

Tough one. Very close. May be tough to compare sports.

Agreed. Just the only one I could think of that would be in consideration over the last few decades...

Agreed.

I agree that she was the most dominant pitcher I've ever seen in the area for as long as she did it. Nice volleyball player also.

I thought Kristen Allen threw harder than 62mph? Morgan at Simon throws that?

Agree with the bolded 100%. For many NKY girls, not striking out against her was a huge accomplishment within itself. Awesome that your daughter was able to get a hit. That is something she will always remember. Congrats to Kirsten with the start on senior day.

I really think there are some misconceptions about how fast 62mph is. I am not an expert by any means, but I don't think anyone in Northern Kentucky can hit 60 right now including the pitchers at NKU.

I agree, I would be shocked it Morgan pitched any where near 62, she may have hit it once but does not pitch near that, When I saw her last year I would have guessed more around 55 but I don't have a gun so who knows...With her body 62 would be getting her D1 looks.

How hard was Allen thowing when she was at Ryle? I know the 43" has changed the game and a lot of pitchers had to adjust but my guess is as dominant as she was she may have been thowing a little harder at Ryle.
