Camels (in my opinion) have struggled all year getting Wilson the ball. They can do it when the entry is easy, but limited plays designed to get him a clean entry pass, and limited ability of the guards to find a way when he is aggressively guarded.

Two that rarely see minutes in any game. Not a factor.

A lot of chatter about the impact of the loss of a top player in a game that doesn't matter. At all. Not districts. Not regional. Not state. Not relevant. Who cares if Scott won by 50. These games are scrimmages. Nothing more. If they meet in the 10th region tournament, then it will matter.

I would agree with this in past years. But this year CovCath was simply a better team. NewCath has very limited scoring options outside of Weyer and Moeves. I thought NewCath actually played as well as they could, and kept the game closer than it should have / could have been.

Thankfully there was an incorrect call against each team in the 4th - the mistake(s) had NO impact on the game. I don't believe the second was a make-up call, I sincerely think the ref was just confused. What I did think was "funny" was that he used the volleyball line when he made the mistake, but immediately went to the correct line to inbound the ball (both times). I really think he just was in the moment and was confused on the multiple lines.

Opinion. I personally wasn't expecting it. 6-7 from the field - almost perfect. All threes (I think). Seemed to come at crucial times. Wasn't a knock on Weyer - I expect him to have great nights - he's obviously their stud. Moeves was the "someone else that stepped up" - which NCC seems to need desperately. From an "uneducated guy in the stands" perspective, and not taking who scored the most points into consideration, I was excited about Moeves' night. And ..... I'm grateful that it's OK for me to "think it's OK to think Moeves was the star". Thank you for that!!

Thanks for the recommendations!! I would not have gone to the HC/NCC game without your recommendations. It was a great game!! I think I'll post again next week for ideas for "The Game of the Week in NKY"

Glad I went - very exciting game!! Best one I've seen all year. Very impressed with HC's tenacity, aggressiveness, and spunk. Moved the ball very well, played tough, aggressive D. Was very impressed with, Schrand, Bezold, and Jakubowski. Also impressed with Moeves and Weyer. Moeves was the star of the night for NCC. Not impressed with NCC's offense. Outside of Weyer and Moeves, not a lot of other scoring options. Not sure why Weyer did not get the ball down low more. He/they seemed to be ok with him shooting threes, fade-away 10 footers etc. There was nobody on the court who could handle him inside.

Sometimes it's a tough transition to go from being "the guy" to "one of the guys". Very talented, explosive player. I was surprised by the numbers.

Where is this game being played? I didn't see it on either of the team's schedules. Is it this Tuesday the 22nd?

I liked the lineup change, but don't think it was the reason for the victory. Wilson inside WAS!!! Not only from a scoring perspective, but he had a huge rebounding game as well. Camels will have a mediocre year if they don't hand him the ball every time down the court. Last night much better focus on getting him the ball

I've watched most of every cc varsity and JV games for the past 8 years. Many freshmen games as well. I do think the coaching staff identifies talent early on (7th and 8th grades) and decides those are the kids they want to develop. But I think most coaches do that. I also think they "miss" every once in awhile, and are a little slow to react and play other kids when they miss. But they eventually see the reality of the situation and get it right. I think more often than not they have the best talent in the right places. This year is no exception. The kids you have specifically mentioned are good players and deserving of varsity time. And they are starting to get some. But the differences in them and those that start in front of them is very slim. To the extent it's a coin flip. Bertsch in my opinion has more upside than zumwalde. That's why he starts. Geiman is also good, but he is not discernibly different than the young man that starts in front of him. I'd be ok with either starting. I don't think for a second it's politics, last name, or anything else sinister. I also believe at cc or other schools it hardly ever is. It's usually only seen that way by someone who does not have the ability to see things objectively.

I was at every game last year. Neither measner nor bertsch played any real varsity minutes. All their action was in mop-up mode.

Camels beat a very good Montgomery County team in the finals that first year.

I thought the camels looked overmatched for three of four quarters last week. Put together a great fourth quarter to make it close, and had the ball with a chance to win in the final minutes. Small. Limited running game. Iffy defensively. Haven't seen highlands yet, but if they have any size In the backfield, it could be a long night for the camels. Pulling for the camels but my gut tells me they will be lucky to keep it close.

Here is a coach who is trying to use his position to do good for students in general - not just his players. There are good and bad coaches, just like good and bad kids. Most coaches love the kids they coach - by a huge majority. Not sure why you are turning a very positive thing a coach is doing into a negative about coaches. Coach Siple should be commended for doing this. My guess he has no motivation other than helping kids. Also - there are a few comments regarding where a coach's responsibilities begin/end. I dont think this falls under the heading of a "responsibility" for a coach. But - it sure is a great thing for them to get behind and support!!! Athletes are "cool". If a coach can get them to use this "coolness" to display compassion for others......PRICELESS!!!
