Hoping for Boyle but think Bowling Green will win a close one.

I don't see anyone bearing Owensboro. How does anyone defend a bull and a pogo stick? @colonel-fan - loved it!!!

Calloway County reminded me a lot of CovCath tonight. Very disciplined, well coached team. Loved the way they played. Bowling green was just a little better tonight.

I agree Owensboro is the favorite. If they play well I don't see anyone beating them. I also feel the same as you do about CovCath, but thought the same with every game they played last year - so I can't count them out. It's a toss-up for me in regards to my second. I was really impressed with Boyle and like them as a team. They are fun to watch and I am pulling for them as my emotional favorite at this point. But I think Bowling Green is right there with them from a "chance to win" perspective. In really enjoyed all of the games today. Also loved the dancing kid. He's destined to be a mega-star!!!!!

Agree. I said the same thing to the gentleman sitting next to me.

I like this Owendboro team. Big, fast, athletic, move the ball well and play like a team.

Owensboro looks awfully impressive. Nice comeback to end the half by HopTown.

I don't pay much attention to these things, but I thought attendance looked pretty good for first round games, especially the early session.

.....and why does this come to light now? Seems like if there is any question of a player's eligibility it should be brought to light before now. What is the process in Ohio and ky? Is it completely up to the schools to determine eligibility on their own, or when a transfer arrives can you request that the organizing body perform due diligence and give the "all clear" before you play he kid and subject your team to this horrible fate?

Campbell County was just a different team last night than the one I saw in the 10th region tournament. I would agree they did not have the same "fire". I am not sure what the difference was, but they lacked the incredible intensity that they have had in the last 4 or 5 games. Their defensive intensity, which in my opinion was what made them tick in the post season (both offensively and defensively) was not in full force. Although zone defense was the RIGHT defensive scheme against CovCath, I wonder if they would have been better to play their aggressive man-to-man? This is what seemed to give them life at the end of the season and helped them to make a strong run. Not second guessing the coaching staff. I am by no means a scholar or even a student of the game. Just a casual fan's observations. And I am a "dance with the one that brought ya" kinda guy. I do not question the team's heart. I would think all of the teams that have made it this far have not done it on talent alone. My guess is that every team that makes it this far has a great deal of heart. But in the end they are just a bunch of young kids that have great games, and not so great games. Campbell had a not so great game on many fronts. Hats off to CovCath for playing a great game.

Of the teams that played on Wednesday, I thought Owensboro, Hopkinsville, and Doss all looked like teams that could run the table if playing well. At this point I would not give one the edge over any of the others. I don't think CovCath matches up well with any of these team, but I thought the same last year, so what do I know. Hoping for a good batch of games today, and looking forward to seeing Ballard, LexCath, Knott County, and Bowling Green play. Should be a lot of fun.

Owensboro was impressive. Their two bigs will be tough to handle...one big and athletic, one big and a freight train. They will cause match-up problems for anyone.

Without question the best game of the day. I didn't know much about Williamsburg and was expecting a Doss blowout. Williamsburg was very impressive. I agree they may have run out of steam.

I think the biggest unknown is how long Ruthsatz will remain there? I know nothing about him or his situation (or much about CCH basketball), but feel he is one of if not the best coach in the state. And someone who has Div 1 coaching potential. It seems hard to fathom that he will not receive an offer that lures him away...maybe even sometime soon???

It is a silly and ridiculous question. But it makes for interesting conversation....I guess. I am with you 100% - I hate to send it end every year. It's a similar feeling as I get when the time changes in the fall.....almost a depression (not clinically). It will be worse for me this year because my youngest son 2Runner is playing his senior season, and I have no more basketball playing sons in the pipeline.

It's hard to convince me a team that almost gets beat by a weak Newport team is playing their best ball. Agree that the 9th is a tough region to come out of though.

How true. He get's very little credit. Back-to-back Regional Titles with a school that has little basketball success historically. Impressive. And to take the Newport team to state that he did with the talent he had there - probably even more impressive. If you watched any of the three teams play - they all turned it on at tournament time. Maybe he knows how to get kids motivated when it matters!!!!!

Gotcha. The year before he arrived at Campbell County!!

Two regional titles. Last year and hopefully this year.
